Enkavir

Description

Long and lean, Enkavir stands just above six feet in height; he is toned without being bulky as he goes from gawky youth to broad-shouldered narrow-waisted adult. Chestnut hair sparks russet in the right light, longish waves that are perpetually in disarray, tumbling over the top of his ears and into his eyes. Direly in need of a cut, the haphazard mop seems to have a life of its own and his tendency to grab it, shove it, push it up and out of his eyes means it never looks quite the same from one hour to the next. His brow is pronounced, accentuated by thick dark brows that leave his eyes deep-set. They are pale hazel, shifting from amber to glass-green to almost brown on a whim, but intense more often than not. His nose is narrow, but downturned slightly at the tip, his cheekbones high and his mouth soft to the point it would be almost pouty were it not so often twisted into a wry smirk or a scowl.

History

Summary:
Enkavir is a young man just out of adolescence. He has gone from the son of a SeaCrafter, to an Apprentice StarCrafter, only to find that the life of a crafter is not for him. The past few turns have been spent caring for his ailing grandfather and helping out the rest of his mother's extended family at a small cothold near Ressac Beach Sea Hold. Never one to accept generally accepted truths or the beaten path, now that his grandfather has passed on he is seeking to make his own way in the world and to find his own truths. Why he thinks Xanadu Weyr is the first step on the road supposedly less travelled is anyone's guess, but that is where he has ended up (started out?) with a new knot and the title of Recordskeeper.

Firelizards

Untamed Wildfire Bronze Spark
Flames leap from the conflagration on the underside of belly and neck, lapping up both sides of this bronze's finely-wrought form. Spark showers rise over the blaze of shoulders, back and hindquarters, coppered by a veil of soot. As an ashen landscape denuded of growth, the stark blackness of trees silhouetted in front of fire's glow leave scorched traces along his headknobs, neckridges, spine and tail. Between charred spars wing membranes are lit in an unnatural dawn of sun through the amber haze of a smoke pall.

Montana Forest Egg
The hues on the shell of this egg sculpts a panorama of majestic wild beauty—peaks, which fade into distant blue haze. From the gold of open rangeland, shades of dark green form trees of larch, pine, fir and spruce that march like silent sentinels up steep-sided, rugged gray mountains through which rifts have been carved by glacial advance in ages long past. Thundering streams foam whitely, leaping over boulders, cascading down rockfaces, plunging over escarpments to whisper through tumbled rocks at the bottom of boulder-strewn gorges.

Hatching Message: The entire crackled side of the Montana Forest Egg decides to suddenly cave in and out tumbles a hatchling, nicely-proportioned even at this early age. It scrambles to its feet, whirls upon the offending shell, and attacks what is left of its former home with sharp claws and teeth. After the shards are trampled into the ground, ire cools and there's something else it needs to do. But what?

Credits: The theme for this clutch was geographical locations, which is what the egg and hatchling descriptions are based off of. In keeping with this theme, each firelizard personality is based off of a person associated with the area. The Untamed Wildfire Bronze Hatchling's personality is taken from Robert Jordan, a native Montanan and the main character in Ernest Hemingway's 'For Whom the Bell Tolls'. In the story Jordan, an expert in the use of explosives, is assigned to blow up a bridge during an attack on the city of Segovia.
