Description
Joiran is a recently promoted journeyman chef. He's a hard worker, he'll perform even the most horrible of tasks, even if he might complain about them, but rules have never been his strong suit. He's a bit of a ladies man, but he is trying to change - one does not get asked to stand every day, after all! Even though he's no longer a candidate, he's trying to do his best, in the hopes of being searched again, though he's beginning to wonder if he even /wants/ to be among the riders.
History
Two of Myra's younger brothers, Joiran and Lorallen, had recently come to Xanadu for a short break from work and home, a celebratory outing for Joiran's eighteenth turn day. One thing led to another, and Lorallen got himself searched, right in front of Joiran and Myra. Not wanting Joiran to feel left out, and, truth be told, missing her family, Myra found her way to giving the young chef a white knot as well.
There had been two clutches in close proximity, so the lads stood for both. Neither boy impressed, but they consoled themselves with the thought of the next clutch. Joiran was far more confident of their chances, and Lorallen drew a great deal of encouragement and strength from his brother. He was tempted occasionally to step down and go home, but something held him back. The younger boy spent time in the galleries, just looking out at the eggs. Joiran thought Lorallen was wasting his time, and never actually visited the galleries himself. He felt his brother was foolish to think that that might make a difference, foolish! Myra's encouragement of the younger brother's silly dreaming didn't help at all.
The second clutch hatched, though Lorallen was wondering once more what he was doing there. It was, therefore, a great shock when he exited the hatching sands via the weyrling's exit, with Pride of the Summer Green Mhairiath in tow, and Joiran trudged out of the other exit, for a second time. Still, Myra was there to console him, and she took him in under her crafting wing. The man was uneasy with his greenriding siblings after that, quite clearly disapproving when it was revealed that the father of Myra's unborn baby was not the man she called weyrmate at the time. Not that he approved of that weyrmate, either.
