Xanadu Weyr - Caverns

A massive cavern in it's own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as are the walls where numerous tapestries hang to provide brilliant color and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt, leveled carefully but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.
The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area, however, is the one near the Kitchens where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. Its plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr and equally plain that on such occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are appropriated from all the other areas.
A big fireplace is set into the wall near the Kitchens as well, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good view of all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colors of undyed wool.
Exits lead off in all directions, a big archway the largest and that leading outside. Shallow stairs to the west lead to the offices and administration area while tunnels to the east lead to the infirmary, kitchen and resident's quarters. Southwards, a sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs and southwest is a wide tunnel, carefully roped off to avoid accidents.

Free of the girls today, as they're off visiting relatives, Delenn makes his way towards the serving table for that necessary starter cup of klah. Regardless of being foster-daughter free, he still got up at the crack of dawn as it
is now. The nanny after all, is still a nanny and has his own duties to tend to. Yawning, he covers his mouth with
the back of his hand before picking up a mug.

And oh, who's behind him, looking a bit tired too as he waits for the pitcher of klah, it's K'vin. He smiles softly at Delenn, his cup in his other hands. "Good morning." He tells simply.

Pivoting on one heel, Delenn looks at the older gentleman behind him and offers him a warm smile. "Good morning sir,"
comes the cheery reply, even as he fills his mug with piping hot goodness. Rather than put it down, he offers to pour
K'vin some of the contents. "How are you this morning?" he asks as he pours, stopping when the rider suggests it and
setting the caraf back down in it's place.

K'vin smiles brightly. "It's too early to tell actually." He says with a teasing wink. "But so far, it's good." He adds
with a smile. "Do you want to join me at a table?" He offers.

Delenn laughs softly, inclining his head to the man before he peers around him to look at the seating available before
turning his bright green up to K'vin and nodding. "Certainly, thank you very much for the invitation." He gestures with
one hand to indicate that the rider should lead the way.

K'vin nods and does lead the way to a table closeby. "There, here should be nice enough, not too close to the serving
table but not too far either." Once sitting, he outstretches his hands. "I'm K'vin, bronze rider." He introduces
himself

The nanny steps carefully towards the table indicated, smiling warmly to the rider and pulling out his own chair to
gently slide himself into it. Legs are crossed at the ankle. "This is prefect really." Delenn agrees, setting his mug
down so that he can offer one of his considering more slender hands to the bronzerider. Yes, those would be long
manicured fingernails there. The youngerman's skin is smooth, pale and soft in texture. As if he hadn't worked a
single hard day in his life. "I'm Delenn, nanny." he returns, and after the proper time has passed for the polite
handshake, he retracts his hand again. "It's a pleasure to meet you, sir."

K'vin nods his head again. "The pleasure is shared." He replies courteously. "Have you always been here? I don't think
I saw you before." He says softly as he sips his klah

Delenn leans back in his chair and palms his mug between his two hands, relaxing a bit before the morning's duties.
"That's awfully nice of you to say," he smiles, seeming genuine about it. "Oh no, I've been here a few months, just
up from Rubicon with my two fosterlings." he supplies and himself takes a sip of his klah.

K'vin nods his head again and hmms thoughtly. "That's weird, you remind me of someone but I can't really nail down who
is it." He hmms again thoughtfully

Delenn blinks a few times, and places a single finger against his chin. "You don't seem the type of man that would
partake in the exchange of the flesh for marks. So it's unlikely that you knew my mother," he starts and purses his
lips together a moment before dark lashes lower towards his cheeks as he considers. "I do have a half brother in
Eastern, Ryski. And then there's my half sister Saefti…they're nearly twelve now." he smiles proudly, before
tilting his head to the side. "We share the same eye shape, and a few other features from our father, but for the
most part, I look like my mother." A pause, "I really don't know who else I might possibly remind you of…" Hmmm…he
sips again at his klah.

K'vin clicks his fingers. "Yes, I know Risky and Saefti." He blinks and blushes. "In fact, I am weyrmated to their
mother, Tay." He admits after a short pause. "She's really a sweet person and both of them are nice too, just a bit
unruly."

Delenn blinks once, "Are you really?" he admires, and then shakes his head at the irony. "That's quite amazing really.
I'm often over at Eastern to see Ryski, it's very strange that he never mentioned his mother living here." The nanny
does laugh softly though, "I suppose the twins get it from their unruliness from their sire, or at least I would
imagine. I have no basis of comparison. As I have never met your weyrmate." he says and offers the older man a soft
warm smile, "I'm sure she's absolutely lovely, sir."

K'vin nods his head. "That she is." He says with a fond smile. "Lovely and a very sweet person." He smiles again. "I wish
Ryski and Saefti stayed here, maybe we could have built something in the end.

Delenn sips again at his klah, listening with a gentle smile and an occasional nod of his head. "I think Ryski in
particular is trying to strike out on his own, and I only just talked him out of trying to join the guards over there.
He was driving his foster father up a wall, it was quite the scene," he tells, eyes widening a bit. "I love him dearly,
but talking to Ryski about anything is oft like talking to a wall of stone."

K'vin nods his head again. "I did realise that after a couple of weeks." He answers with a grin. "But I'm sure this kid
doesn't mean any harm, he just want to show he's here but he's doing it wrongly."

Delenn hmmm's and nods, another sip of klah and the teenager's eyes widen a bit more. "Oh dear, look at the time." he
peers and suddenly stands, all movements rather graceful. "I am so sorry to just barge out like this sir, but I seem to
be running late. Please excuse me." he flushes and bounces once in a hasty curtsy before bounding out quickly in the
direction of the children's cavern.
