Attack of the Crabs

Xanadu Weyr - Caverns
A massive cavern in it's own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as are the walls where numerous tapestries hang to provide brilliant colour and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt, leveled carefully but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.
The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area, however, is the one near the Kitchens where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. Its plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr and equally plain that on such occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are appropriated from all the other areas.
A big fireplace is set into the wall near the Kitchens as well, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good view of all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colours of undyed wool.
Exits lead off in all directions, a big archway the largest and that leading outside. Shallow stairs to the west lead to the offices and administration area while tunnels to the east lead to the infirmary, kitchen and resident's quarters. Southwards, a sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs and southwest is a wide tunnel, carefully roped off to avoid accidents.

Through the enterance to the caverns comes a stack of crates with legs! Oh… no maybe not legs. It's just T'eo. But what on earth is he doing with those? Though they don't remain in his arms for very long. There must be some rise in the ground in that one spot because T'eo hits it with the toe of his sandals, lets out a curse, and down he goes! And the crates with him! CRASH! The flimsy woden crates smash open to reveal… little crabby things.

Trilanna was having a nice drink of juice and a sweetroll when the entrance is noted, soon followed by the crash right nearby where she had been standing. She blinks at the little crabby things and wrinkles her nose. "What in the shards?" She's quick enough to get up and offer assistance, tiptoing around the crabby things. "Are you alright?" She asks quietly.

T'eo is laying face down among the bits of crates, a few splingers in his hands from the fall. He leaps up before she can extend her hand to panic. Why? Well, the second the little beasties had realized they're luck they took off, scuttling around teh ground. "No! No come back! Oh Shards! Niva's gonna kill me! Help! Help, get a bucket!" he calls to her urgently as he grabs them up." Luckily these guys didn't have claws.

Trilanna is glad for the no claws thing, she wasn't looking forward to getting and pinchied and such. She deposits her glass and roll on a table and moves towards, hmm, where would she get a bucket..Aha! The kitchens! She comes back with two large pots instead of buckets, but, hey, they'll do, right?

"Yes! Yes that's it!" T'eo cries greatfully, tossing the buggers in. But there's so many. He tries like mad to grab large amounts of them, but unfortunately when he flings them towards the pots not all of them make it in. So he must go one by one. The Caverns is alive with the squeals and surprised yells of the people inside. Many take off. Some of the more -manly- riders try to help, but they're quite weirded out and once they believe to have done their job they leave. "Just wait untill they get into your beds, eh?" T'eo calls after, annoyed. He's down on his hands and knees under the tables.

Trilanna watches curiously as the crabby things are tossed into the pots, scooting out of the way of flying crawlies. She blinks as the pots fill up and she heads off to go get some more pots.

T'eo is still down rummaging unders tables after the little guys. Ember and Hestia have arrived at Raenth's suggestion to go after the crabs, but Hestia was definately too small to lift any. She squeaks to T'eo reporting where she sees them. The whole things is rather comical for one to walk in on. T'eo under tables, flits flying search and poor Tri running back and forth from the kitchens to get more pots for capture of teh crabs. Then it happens… "ARGH!" T'eo's managed to get stuck in the legs of a chair. The crab he was after scurries off.

Kysli blinks a little as she well, walks into the rather comical scene for a person to walk in on. Yeeeah. She sort of blinks a few more times as she stands there and sees a crab scurry past. "Hey T'eo… need some help?" Okay, yeah, she's trying tno to laugh

Mylla wanders in from the hatching cavern, a little happy smile on her face as she takes a look around for her friends. It doesn't take her long to spot the rider with the crabs problem. She giggles, her brows rising as she walks over, careful not to step on any escapees. "What's going on here?"

T'eo groans softly. As if this wasn't enough of a problem. "Uh… yeah… just grab 'em and toss them in the pots." He wriggles about in his chair, tryings to back out the way he came it and erking and erfing the entire time. A little crab runs by his nose and he grabs it, pausing his efforts to remove himself.

Kysli grabs a pot and scoops up the crab that's now running back past her again, plopping it in. "Uh… what in Faranth's name /happened/ T'eo?" She's sounding actually rather amused as she starts grabbing crabs left and right as they scuttle around.

Mylla very carefully steps through the cavern, her eyes wide as she sees the sheer number of crabs crawling around. "Well, I'm glad I decided against wearing sandals today… and that is a very good question."

T'eo looks at himself trapped in the chair, then the crab, then the chair… crab… chair. Hm. He tries to toss the crab into Kysli's bucket as it's comeing closer. "Well… urf! You see… I was carrying crates." Lots of crates. "And well… you know… the floor's uneven." Raenth rumbles to Bergerath. « He tripped on those sea legs of his and fell over. Crates and crabs everywhere. » Thank you, ya big oaf!

Kysli shakes her head a little and kind of guessed the whole T'eo tripping over his own legs bit, even without her dragon relaying it to her. "Need some help getting out of there?" is said as she crouches down next to T'eo and his chair.

Mylla rolls her eyes, crouching down to oh-so carefully grab one of the crabs. Those things do have nasty pincers, after all. "You had to drop the crate with the crabs, eh? Figures."

T'eo erks and wriggles backwards. He can do this. yep yep… He can- He shoots back and bumps into Mylla as she stoops to pick one up. "Ack!" Hestia lets out a squeal and one of the crabs clams itself to the ground with her little toes under it. Ember sails over and chews on it's shell to help her.

Kysli runs her hand back through her hair and can't help but just… laugh, sitting down on the ground crosslegged and laughing. Yeah, it's being quite helpful really but this is all just too… funny.

Mylla is a bit surprised to be bumped, only saving herself from falling facefirst into crabs by grabbing the side of a nearby table, dropping the one crab she managed to collect thus far. "Eeek!"

T'eo is at least out of the chair. He sits among the throng of crabs grabbing armsfuls of them and tossing them into the pots… sometimes missing ofcourse. "Kys! Kys! Come on, now! Help me!" Hestia's free and Ember has teh crab, flying over to drop it in a pot and swoop off to another one.

Kysli stiffles her laughter with one hand and scoops up grabs into her pot as she manages to stop snickering. "Okay, Okay, sheesh." ANd she tosses one of the crabs at T'eo, a little one of course. "Catch, my pot is full."

Mylla gets herself steadied and stands up again, turning to stick her tongue out at T'eo. "Oh, not even an apology, huh?" Nevertheless, she ducks down and starts scooping up crabs herself to help.

T'eo has an armful at this point and yelps , leaning back to catch the little one on his pile. He blinks at Mylla a moment. "How about a crab? They make pretty good pets." He suddenly realizes that with his arms full he can't exactly stand up. "Oh dear. Mylla can you bring a pot this way. Eeek! Ooh! One's down my shirt! They tickle! He he!"

Kysli is trying not to burst out laughing again and plops the lid on the full pot and just leaves it on the floor as she grabs another almost empty pot and scoops crabs in. "T'eo, you make this weyr much more interesting, you know that?"

Mylla scrambles up to her feet, her arms only somewhat full of crabs. She scans the nearby tables for abandoned pots and finds one, dumping her crabs into it before carrying it over to T'eo, careful to avoid stepping on any of the critters.

T'eo dumps his load into the pot and tries to retrieve the one in his shirt, giggling the entire time (yes, giggling). "He he… I'm sure Niva and… he he Casp… wouldn't put things so… eek! There it is! hah!" He dumps it in the pot. "Delicately. Thank you, Mylla, my dear." He finishes. He goes to grab up more of the crabs, getting to his feet first so he's not confined.

Kysli makes a note to herself that she should attempt tickling T'eo at some point in the future and goes around on her hands and knees dragging a pot along and scooping the crabs into it as she goes.

Mylla giggles and grins at T'eo, sinking to her knees to collect more crabs. "It's no trouble. But, uh, shouldn't this count as extra chores? So that I get a day off tomorrow, maybe?"

T'eo nearly trips over a rather large one but manages to keep his feet and snatch it up. It bites him. "Ow!" He throws it with great force into the pot. "Careful. Larger ones bite." He continues, taking more pots that are lined up. The kitchen hands have come out to watch. Some being so nice as to help. "Well… I dunno about that. I'll mention it up the ladder but I know I'm not getting a day off after this."

Kysli could mention that T'eo /caused/ it so would more likely loose a day off but she won't, she's amused anyhow and then hops to her feet after filling the pot up, grabbing the one she'd filled earlier as well. "Where do these need to go T'eo?"

Mylla thinks about that for a moment as she continues to snag the crabs, plopping them one by one into the pot. "Well, y'know, if I was getting a day off, we could just pretend that some weyrbrat came and knocked over the crate, or something…"

T'eo laughs a little at Mylla. Or is it at Ember who's gotten into a wrestling match with a crab. Both maybe. "Yeah, but somehow I think half the weyr now knows what happened." WhY? Just that bronzen thing attached to his head. Yep. "They… er…. go to the stores for teh kicthens. Supposed to be food for us." He explains. "S'the last time I do a favor for the Fishing Craft." He mutters.

Ziven slowly enters the weyrhall and immidiately takes a step back as a crab crosses his path, a eyebrow arching as he follows it, his body swivling in his spot. Then his attention is quickly caught by the flying crabs sent by T'eo, as well as the pots overflowing with the scuttling creatures. Odd. Very odd.

Not to mention the scuttlign crabs that are in ever nook and cranny of the cavern plus well… everyone else as well. Kysli passes Niv with a grin on her way to the kitches and returns a moment later with two large empty pots one of which she hands to Ziven. "Want to give us a hand?"

Mylla dumps another handful of crabs off, then starts inspecting the floor again with a sigh. "These things are everywhere… was it really just one crate?"

Ziven wrinkles his nose as she crosses over, grabbing a few of the crabs that cross his path and plunking them into one of the empty buckets. "Do I want to know how this happened?" Zi asks in a curious manner as he pauses to look at the sheer chaos, "You'd think they were trying to take over."

Kysli can't help but smirk a little as she's already in a rather odd mood. "They are, it's a massive plot, you know." And then the wingleader disapears under a table after another armful of crabs.

Mylla looks over at Ziven, nodding as solemnly as possible. "It was a massive, planned assault. Nobody saw it coming. Were it not for the united firelizard front, they'dve surely taken over the weyr."

Ziven snickers quietly as he eyes the overflowing buckets, "Indeed" The healer says in an amused voice as he starts to cross the floor, bending over to grab a few of the crabs, being careful not to get anywhere those nasty claws."

Kysli emerges from undereath the table, pushing her pot in front of her and then makes a nice 'squeak' noise as one that had been on the tabletop lands on her head.

Ziven laughs quietly as he hears Mylla's comment, plopping his crabs into his pot, "I highly doubt you'll get a day off, they don't care about us as it is."

Kysli grabs the crab from her head and pauses as she hears Ziven speak. "We don't?" That's news to her at least and the crab is tossed into the pot before she grabs another scuttling past
