Xanadu Weyr - Weyrling Grounds
Cradled in a cup shaped bite out of the mountain, this wide, grassy flat has become home for Xanadu's weyrling dragons. It's set surprisingly high above the level of the beach, visible from the eastern side of the grounds where a long path snakes its way down the hill to the sand dunes below. All other sides to the grounds are bordered by the hard granite cliffs, two entrances clearly visible. One is merely human sized and leads deep into the mountain, to the Caverns. The other is broad and high, the entrance to the Weyrling Barracks.
With the lunch hour ended, the weyrlings have once again been released to their afternoon duties - lessons for some, practice for others, and other chore or craft projects for the rest. Yet, it is not only weyrlings who have been returning to the Weyrling Field, for Marte has headed that way with her own brown Vwayath. Its there that she's waiting under the grey sky, jacket closed despite the summer hour, protecting her from the cold breeze off the water, and in preparation for the lesson to come.
Zevida wanders in, following behind Avaeth who has taken lead for the evening. Dictating what the pair would be doing today, each little detail of how things were done, simply because of her fussy mood. There is a huff from the gold, moving to settle herself into whatever shadows lurk. Zevida does not follow, instead, simply watching her lifemate with a quirk of her brow. "I don't know why you're so sour…"
So it's lesson time, yet again. Perfect! Well, perfect for certain things, at least. Like for Y'ki to finally put on those leathers that he'd hidden away after his first bit of trying them on. After all, with the lesson plans and everything, a good set of leathers is probably best to have on. Which is why he's decked in them! Black. Oh yes, tons of black. Head to toe in tight-fitting leather, with a light touch of silver and blue along seams. His jacket has fluff around the collar, with just below it an obviously blue tunic is worn. The leather creaks just a little as he heads out, giving Ecoatleth's straps a faint tug to keep the blue moving. Yes, he /has/ to attend this lesson.
With the weyrling class split into much smaller groups for this, the all important lesson that will make or break them, Marte eyes the pair that have been assigned to her for a moment, motioning them over to stare at them one at a time - the youngest weyrling first, and then the goldriding weyrling. With a deep breath, she moves away from the brown to address the pair of them. "Weyrlings - As I'm sure you know, betweening isn't a laughing matter. If either of you are distracted at all, it can end badly. Please, if you aren't ready for this, just tell me - We'll reassign you to a later group." And Vwayath stresses this important to the weyrling dragons even as his rider speaks.
Avaeth tilts her head slightly, peering at the others before ruffling her wings and settling contently. A smile from Zevida and she joins her lifemate with ease, her hand moving to gently stroke the golden hide. "She's ready now." Is all she states, towards no one in particular. With Avaeth settled down now, the straps go on and are slowly worked to fit snugly into place.
Y'ki tilts his head for a moment, a brow lifting. Well hey, this isn't one of their /normal/ teachers. Thusly, Marte is slotted into the category of..'sub'. "It's just the two of us, you know. 'Weyrlings' just sounds dumb when it's not a big group." He rubs at a leather-clad arm for a moment then, before he gives a simple shrug. "No problem at all getting it done today. We've been ready forever!" Nothing happens fast enough! Ecoatleth should've been allowed to fly off the hatching sands! Or something..
Better a sub than a teacher they know how much they can get away with right? Marte straightens, looking both of them over before motioning for them to mount up. "Up, and strap in." Then, while pausing so they can do that, she continues to give directions. "We will all take off, and then you will take the image from Vwayath, and we will between to above the main clearing. Once we're there, Vwayath will give further directions. Do /not/ fail to envision correctly, I really don't want to lose either of you." Or face the consequences. And then Marte's turning back to mount her own dragon.
Zevida finishes with the straps, slowly mounting up with a bit of a struggle. Her nose wrinkles slowly and she glances towards Marte and Vwayath, quirking a brow. She glances back down and focuses on strapping herself in.
Y'ki climbs right on up, hauling himself between neckridges and into the straps, fiddling with a few of them to buckle up. Zoomzoom?
A simple pump of her fist, after Marte gives the weyrlings a careful one over, and its a signal for the mini-wing as it were to take off, and hover over the weyrling field.

Xanadu Weyr - Weyrling Sky
A pocket of calmer air, this patch of airspace is dangerous for a very different reason: the presence of Weyrlings whose flying ability is exceedingly unpredictable. From here you can see all of the Weyrling grounds and the Weyrling beach.
[DTU/Project] Ecoatleth and Avaeth sense that Vwayath sweeps clouds into the minds of the weyrlings. « You will take the image from me. Take it carefully. »
There is a long pause while the full rider checks the weyrlings once more, giving them time to get the image from Vwayath before dropping her fist once more, signaling for them to all go between, to the center bowl, letting them go before she follows. (dtu btw)
Away from Vwayath, Ecoatleth nearly manages to hover in place, his wings flapping steadily to keep his position in the air. At all the imaging, the blue's head tilts just a little, before rounding to look at Y'ki just a bit. Whatever the two exchange, Y'ki just gives a faint little nod, before…they're gone!
Away from Vwayath, Avaeth waits for the image, registering it slowly and finally.. The signal! She's off, without a pause. Without waiting.

Xanadu Weyr - High Sky
It is easy to see why the settlers of Xanadu chose this exact spot to live out their lives. Here high above the Weyr one gets a good perspective on the landscape that drew the eye of that rider long ago that sought out the home for a new Weyr. Mountains loom protectively above this pristine little valley, while an energetic river races headlong down the northern side, in a hurry to reach the lake that rests peacefully to the east. Grove after grove of trees dot the land, creating endless shade for the human or dragon.
As well-placed as the natural aspects of the Weyr are, the founders worked hard to keep with the uncontrived rhythms of the valley while destroying as little of it as possible. All of Xanadu opens up below you, welcoming the odd visitor into its friendly arms, or calling a cheerful 'Welcome Home' to the rider and dragon after a visit away.
After a short jump Marte emerges from between with the weyrlings, quickly looking to check that both of the weyrlings are still there. ANd then she's passing on directions through Vwayath. « We will jump back to the weyrling sky. Then we will practice jumping back and forth. Tomorrow we will jump further. »
Away from Vwayath, Avaeth glides gracefully, listening to the command and she lets out a soft huff. Then, without pause, the pair is returning into between.
Away from Vwayath, Higher in the Sky, Ecoatleth does in fact..reappear. No, there'll be no long travels in the dark today. Y'ki shoves his goggles up though once he can actually breathe again, grinning with a fairly proud look on his face. "Going back then?" Well, no point in sticking around, anyway. He shoves those goggles back down once more, and then? Fwoop! Gone once more.
As the trio once again reappear successfully over the weyrlinggrounds, she waves a hand, once again having Vwayath pass the direction to return to the bowl, to begin their practice, each time with more imaging to be done by themselves.
