Xanadu Weyr - Weyrleaders' Office

Office and retreat, this is the domain of Xanadu's Weyrleaders. The door is in the eastern wall, quite close to the southern end while the northern wall is dominated by big, expansive windows, framed by sumptuous deep blue drapes edged with a brilliant gold braid and tied back with a thick rope of braided gold and blue cord. In between, the eastern wall is covered floor to ceiling with shelves that house all sorts of records, manuals and supplies that are used on a day-to-day basis. The southern wall has the Weyrleader's desk — plain fellis wood, well polished and masculine. From behind his desk, the Weyrleader can look straight through the windows and out onto the main airspace of Xanadu. The western wall is where the Weyrwoman's desk resides: a lovely piece of furniture made of warm cherry wood. From her seat, a glance sideways gives her an equally good prospect out the window. There are a few other seats, some comfortably arranged around a low round table for small, informal meetings while there also some that can be drawn up to one of the desks.
On the south side of the door, the space is occupied by a low oblong table where refreshments can be set without someone needing to intrude. There is also an 'incoming' tray where incoming correspondence or similar items can be left.

The day is progressing like any other day, with people to see, things to do, and all that jazz. And so, as she generally is, Niva is settled in her office this mid-morning, the mess of her desk actually rather contained, as if it looks like she's expecting people. Further proving this fact is that a series of knots and papers are stacked up - neatly all things considered - on the desktop, as Niva watches the door, for whoever is next.

"For the last time I really /didn't/. Look, it was Baltin who did all that in the stable earlier. I mean, I wasn't even /there/ but a minute." Which would explain the straw in Y'ki's hair, right? As he's nudged along through the door, the weyrling just glares at whomever it was that escorted him, and scratches at the back of his head a little bit. "Of all the stupid.."

Niva taps fingers on the desk as she waits, tilting her head to one side as she catches the tail end of the protests that are drifting into the room through the open door. The weyrling's escort is given a brief nod of her head in silent dismissal, motioning Y'ki into a chair. "It was Baltin, hm? Not you, weyrling?" For now, there's a rather stern expression on her face as she regards the boy carefully.

Y'ki blinks for a moment, and then looks at Niva, brows arching steadily upward for a bit. "Well yeah. That's what I said, isn't it? I mean, geez, I've been busy all day and everything. I didn't do nothin' I wasn't supposed to." The indicated chair does get a bit of eyeing then, before he flops into it, slouching down somewhat.

"Of course, a nearly graduated weyrling wouldn't risk anything by causing trouble, hm?" She tilts her head as she watches him, glancing at the straw in his hair before back at him. A soft sigh and she turns to rustle through the papers, til she finds the one apparently meant for the bluerider there with her, though she doesn't turn back to him yet. "Just be happy you're seeing me, and not your weyrlingmasters, hm?" Niva offers over her shoulder - she at least has children of her own, and knows how they can be.

Y'ki settles his elbow on one of the chair arms, propping his chin in a palm. "Really? Cuz so far there's not been too much of a threat there." Weyrlingmasters? Pushovers! As far as he's concerned, anyway. "So what am I doing here, anyway? I mean..I really /didn't/ do anything.."

"Really. Because now you have to report directly to me. We want you to continue your work with the dolphineers, and so we've assigned you to Asteroid wing. R'sul and I will expect you to come to us or your craft superiors with any issues." Niva offers as she turns back, unpinning the paper with his name, before offering the knot over to him.

Y'ki tilts his head for a moment, lifting it from his palm in order to look at the knot, brows lifting. "Huh? You mean I can? I mean..well..I guess I will and everything, if you guys /want/." Yes, he'll pretend to lack enthusiasm there. Really.

Niva has to laugh slightly at his reaction. "Don't get to excited there, rider." She offers with a grin. "Take the rest of the day off, and tomorrow morning you'll be reporting to your wing for duties. And tell Baltin that he needs to see the headwoman." With those words, it seems that Y'ki has been freed from her presence, since she's already looking over her shoulder at the next appointment on her list.
