Xanadu Weyr - Caverns

A massive cavern in it's own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as are the walls where numerous tapestries hang to provide brilliant color and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt, leveled carefully but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.

The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area, however, is the one near the Kitchens where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. Its plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr and equally plain that on such occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are appropriated from all the other areas.

A big fireplace is set into the wall near the Kitchens as well, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good vieof all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colors of undyed wool.

Exits lead off in all directions, a big archway the largest and that leading outside. Shallow stairs to the west lead to the offices and administration area while tunnels to the east lead to the infirmary, kitchen and resident's quarters. Southwards, a sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs and southwest is a wide tunnel, carefully roped off to avoid accidents.

It's one of those days where Ysa is found everywhere else /but/ her office. Or her weyr. Which really only left the outside to hide, or curled up with her dragon on the sands. She doesn't look like she's had a lot of rest, either, from the bags under her eyes, but food is one thing she can't really go without for too long. So that takes her to the caverns, keeping her head low in hopes of looking inconspicuous. For food she stacks a few rolls on a plate and a nice steaming mug of klah before moving towards an empty table, closer towards the edge of the caverns where she hopes to disappear into the shadows for a little while.

Zevida is sitting quietly in the caverns, sipping pleasantly on her cup of klah without a care in the world, it seems. Her eyes are focused on the table before her, blissfully unaware of anyone else.

Ysa manages to work through her first roll and about a quarter of her mug before her green eyes finally do their usual sweep of the caverns. She was hoping she could just sit and forget about everything, but she still had that urge to see who was where and if she knew anyone. And unfortunately, she did. First reaction, her eyes narrow at the goldling, but then she just snorts and goes back to her second roll, though her one hand does slide to her pants, patting at the pockets for a moment, only to make her frown deepen.

Zevida tilts her head slightly, towards Ysa and quirking a brow slightly at the woman. She says nothing, watching for a moment as she sips her klah with disinterest. Finally, she rises, heading towards the direction of the other and settling down. "I have no interest in R'miel, if that's what you're worrying about. It was a flight." She states simply, nothing more and she returns to sipping her klah boredly.

Ysa was trying to put off the confrontation that really was inevitable. But the goldling decided to take the first step of moving, making her look up in surprise. She catches her unguarded expression fast enough, lifting a brow right back. "I know it was a flight," she says, snorting. But of course, that doesn't make her any less jealous. "What 'm worried is R'miel's interest, not yours. Much. Among other things…" She studies the other woman a moment, just over the rim of her mug as she takes a long drink.

Zevida sips at her klah, peering at the other woman. "So, you're worried he's going to dislike what he's got and take off?" She asks curiously, smirking slightly. "I doubt he'd be attracted to me, told me he wasn't and I told him I wasn't. Avaeth would take what makes him a man before letting anyone get lovey with me." She points out, sipping at her klah. "I'm not going to get pregnant either. I got between fast enough. I don't want his brat anyway. Your problem is your own, don't get mad at me because you don't think you have what it takes to keep your man." A shake of her head and she continues. "If you must, give him a lesson in appreciating what he has. Take what he's got, leave him raw and then give it back if he learns his lesson."

Ysa winces. "Got it. And I'd appreciate if Avaeth not do that. If it were anyone, I'd rather I do that myself." Though she doesn't sound like that's going to be done anytime soon. Hopefully. "I'd suggest going to the Healers if ya don't want to get pregnant in the future. It's what I do, and you'll be grounded with your gold soon." She nods out towards the clearing, in the general direction of the hatching grounds where her own is resting with her clutch. "Not that I care if ya have a kid of not. The least of my concerns, so long as he doesn't bring it to me if it's his." She continues with a growing frown, knowing fully well how much her weyrmate likes children. As far as babies go, her own son is as far as her affections extend to by the sound of it. "I think I've tried that already. Not sure what else I can teach him, as much as I've said I don't worry, I do. Can't help it." She shrugs both her shoulders helplessly and sets down the mug, picking at a half-eaten roll.

Zevida smirks softly, nodding her head. "I'll tell her to let you if he does try anything. Bind and gag him for you if you want." A sip at her klah and she nods her head, "I'll go to them to get something, then. Rather not have any brats from flight men." Rolling her eyes, she sips again and looks towards the general direction. "She will be, yeah…" A wrinkle of her nose and she shrugs. "If I do have a child, I'm not letting anyone take it. Nor will Avaeth.. She's quite.. Protective.." Pausing, she considers for a moment. "Kick him out of your weyr, have some other guy move in with you, let him know it's a ploy. Be all flirty with him, publically. Let everyone know you've moved on. Maybe he'll get the hint and come crawling back for your affections. If he don't, he's a damn fool and you don't need him. Simple as that."

Ysa can't help but return the smirk. "I'd appreciate that. If I find him hog-tied in my weyr one day, I can take a guess at who did it, too." She turns serious with a nod. "Flights are few and far between for us golds, but anything can happen. So 'm just as prepared now." She leans forward, one elbow on the table, the other arm gone onto her lap. "That's good to know, though a goldrider's duties get pretty busy. In the office while she's on the sands all day, or you'll be out at meetings 'round Pern. Got to find someone to take a brat. But it's a good thing Xanadu's just full of good nannies." At her suggestions, she sits back and crosses her arms, with her hand fisted around something. "I've tried something similar once. Spent the night with our friend instead, though I'd rather not have anyone else in my weyr. It was bad 'nough being convinced by R'miel at the time to be weyrmates, which isn't bad at all now." But there lies her anger, as she snorts and looks away to the clearing.

Zevida snickers softly, nodding her head. "Should be easy enough to get 'im down. With Avaeth's help." A soft chuckle and she nods, turning away. "Which is good. Don't like them at all. I felt like I was going to explode, and two bronzeriders pressuring me into talking didn't help Avaeth at all. She popped up after that." A sigh and she sips at her mug. "Good thing I don't have a full workload yet.." A soft sigh and her eyes close, listening to the other. "Hm. So, sounds like he doesn't spend a lot of time at the weyr, or you think it was stupid to become weyrmates if he's running off like that? Try someone he doesn't know. If he knows them, he knows you probably won't do anything because that person likely has high morals and he knows… Or, you got to get over having someone else in the weyr and invite them to stay a few nights. He won't learn if you're not willing to sacrifice a little to get him to learn."

Ysa shakes her head at the mental image, though quite amused. She's still smirking, probably a bit too interested in that idea anyways. "I like 'em less even after R'miel won the last flight, and it's been my third in the last six turns or so." Which is actually quite a few compared to some of the other golds, but she doesn't seem to mind it at all, going back to her klah with her free hand. She snorts again, meeting the other goldrider's eyes now. "Yet? How 'bout starting now… I think there's already a nice stack of papers piled onto your desk in the offices." And here she opens up her hand, where there was a nice curled up Jr. Weyrwoman's knot. The papers, most likely, were a bit from all the other juniors, too. "I didn't want to be weyrmates if he wants to keep sleeping with others. He's stopped, but there's still the old habits there, an' I don't trust… certain women." She can point out one or two. "I doubt L'ton would mind too much to spend more nights, though I wouldn't do that to my friend M'iken." She frowns again though, tilting her head a bit. "I haven't had to worry over the last turn or so, but 'm not worried of not finding someone to share a bed with if it does happen. I just don't want it to…"

Zevida grins slightly, nodding her head. "I see. Discomforting, really. Don't see how the greenriders can handle it." A huff of breath and she looks at Ysa fully, meeting her eyes as well. It's then that she stares blankly, hiding the look of dread. "Well, shards. I walked straight into that one.." A laugh and she leans forward to take the knot. Not like she has much of a choice anyway. "Mm. I see. Well, if he's got a brain, he'll avoid those women. And, it's not like you can watch him all the time. Again, someone 'e doesn't know. He knows L'ton.. Why don't you try Ch'tra, he doesn't know Ram too well. Ram don't know him too well either. Could spark something… If he steps out of bounds, you got to do it. No way around it or he'll keep walking over you and making you look like a fool. Don't want that."

"A lot of the greenriders seem to love it," Ysa notes with a shrug. "At least, quite a few I've known over the turns." She actually does chuckle for a bit at that. "Ya sure did. You'll be in Nova wing, like the rest of us. Best wing there is, full of work and… work." She was at a loss of words to describe it, though there's plenty of sarcasm to go around. It was her desk that had the most paperwork piled up at the end, due to procrastination. She runs the same hand through her unruly hair once the knot was taken. "'m gone half the time myself. It's just like ya said, I look like a fool when half the Weyr knows if he's been sleeping with someone else. Ella's the one with the gossip, though Ram's not that tough to break if something's gone wrong. He doesn't keep secrets well." She frowns at the thought of the other bronzer. "Not sure if I can just weasel my way with 'nother bronzer. Ton's a friend, at least, though I'll be the first to admit that 'm weak under the influence." She chuckles again, more to herself. "But doesn't mean I'd sleep with the first man that gets me a drink." Or maybe it does, if it's her 6th drink and she was plastered already.

Zevida lets out a soft pff, shaking her head. "Oddballs, I think. Nothing pleasurable about it." Mostly because the flights are so violent, at least with Avaeth attacking the bronze that caught her. "Hn.. Work. Fun." Sarcasm for her too, and, another sip of her klah as she finishes the drink. "I see.. Well, don't let him make you look like a fool. Doubt he's sleeping with anyone now, don't mean he won't in the future." A careful look before she snorts. "That's why I don't drink and will not drink… Shells, so glad Avaeth and I went everywhere we could before she flew up and we got this knot." She wiggles it with distaste before slipping off her weyrling one and placing on the junior knot.

Ysa shakes her head slightly. "I guess after rising so many times a turn, they find something fun out of it. Who knows. But the greens aren't that bad like our golds when they rise, anyways, though it's all the same to me." She wrinkles her nose, meaning the end result of course. She chuckles again, if a bit nervously. "I guess I've tried to trust him 'gain not to. Before R'miel it was always tough for me to find the time to be with anyone, that it's a bit calming to have a weyrmate." Don't have to work for it in the tavern, that is. She arches her brows now, looking at the new Junior Weyrwoman. "Ya got to drink sometime," she says. Not as a question, but as a suggestion. "I'll probably spot ya a drink or two in the tavern. I've heard that too often, but it's always good to relax after a long day stuck behind a desk." Perhaps this goldrider is planning a Juniors' day out?

Zevida hms, nodding slightly in agreement. "Good think Avaeth won't rise as much." A slight smile, shrugging. "Trust takes work. I don't trust many." She points out, casually, but, still not offering much about herself. "I don't need anyone. Don't need a 'mate, only need Avaeth. That's all…" Not like she /doesn't/ like someone, but, complicated. A shake of her head, "don't like the feeling it gives me. I can accompany you, but won't drink myself. Hate it."

Ysa bobs her head in agreement at the trust comment. "It's normal not to trust many," she says in all seriousness. "But doesn't mean ya can't be 'round the people, or have fun." And by fun, she doesn't just mean chatting, as she waggles her brows. She shrugs again. "But Ella's been 'round for me more than anyone else, at the end. Can't argue that if everything comes crashing down, it's not all that bad at the end, so long as she's there." She sighs again, though there's more of a genuine smile at the mention of her lifemate. "Well, I've been one to keep an eye on others if they're not used to it, if that's what you're worried 'bout. But a good bar's always fun, drinking or not, if ya go at the right time." She peers at her nearly empty mug, frowning, before she takes the leftover rolls and pockets them.

Zevida pffs softly, shaking her head at that. But, she doesn't say anthing for a moment. "Don't like 'that' either. Considering, I hardly remember my first and.. The flight was a horrid way." But, nothing more is said about that. Slowly, she rises and offers a slight smile. "All you need is your lifemate. Got a kid too now, so, you need him too. Don't really need a 'mate." Her shoulders shrug and she eyes her knot. "I suppose I best go find my desk and see what's been piled on. Avaeth is getting impatient too." A fond smile and she takes her mug, refilling it and exiting the caverns without another word.

Ysa's grin fades quickly at that, and she frowns instead. "Oh," she says simply, pursing her lips out in thought instead. She's got more on her mind, but she'll leave it at that. Instead, she also gets up, with firelizard snacks in her pocket, she's ready to go back home. "Well, you've got duties now to keep you busy, and then the sands. Make sure ya get all your traveling 'round for ya get grounded with Avaeth," she reminds with a shrug. "There's still plenty I need from R'miel. Can't really see myself without a 'mate anymore." Or, well, anyone else. She chuckles now, nodding. "Won't be too difficult to find. Have fun," she calls after the other goldrider, turning in the opposite direction to head back to the weyr.
