Niva and Kysli

Xanadu Weyr - Beach

The unerring range of subdued white rises and falls in a multitude of sandy dunes, creating an endless amount of tiny valleys constantly demolished and rebuilt by the frequent arrival or departure of a dragon. Smoothing out as it slopes gently to the edge of the deep blue water, the sand darkens and a shell here and there stands out for children to collect.

The wide wide stretch of water opens up to the east, the far distant shore way beyond the horizon and the beach curves ever so slowly round to north and south, distant arms of land embracing the wind-ruffled Caspian Lake. North leads up to the mouth of the Rubicon River, wide and shallow but an impractical route to the road that can be seen following the coast beyond. Southwards, the beach narrows as the cliff swings out, leaving a path wide enough for drgaons in single file before cutting in to the sheltered cove designated the Weyrling Beach. Westwards, dunes fade into scrub which swiftly gives way to thick forest, a wide path near the river leading back to the heart of Xanadu Weyr.

Bergerath is curled up on the sands of the beach, in the shape of a shallow 'U'. In the bottom of the dip sits, Kysli, reclining against her bond. A tail is wrapped protectively around her and the brown croons softly.

Niva wanders along from the trail, scuffing sand with her feet as she goes, not really watching where she's going or paying much attention to who might already be where she has arrived.

Kysli may not notice the other or be noticed, but Bergerath is observant and sends a questioning croon in the other woman's direction. «Join us?» is asked softly in her mind, barely intrusive.

Niva lifts her chin, blinking for a long moment and looking this way and that before wandering closer. Standing on her tiptoes, she peers at Kysli for a moment, then at Bergerath, and then back at Kysli before nodding her head and closing the distance the rest of the way quietly, hesitating enough to not sit down yet.

Bergerath swings the tip of his tail outward, careful not to hit the healer, it's almost like a gate opening or something. If she wants she can join the rider in the nice encircled spot. Open invitation. Kysli is awake and offers a small smile to the other. "Hello"

Niva gives half a smile to Kysli, watching the tail for a moment before slipping in and sliding down to sit next to the rider. "Hey there…" Eyes close for a moment as she leans back before glancing over at her curiously. "Are you doing alright?"

Kysli nods, "Yeah…" she still has the panflute hung around her neck like C'ian would always carry it. The tail-gate (erk.. just noticed that after I typed… but it works) swinging shut and a head comes over to watch both of the women curiously… and hopefully as well, right in front of their faces easily in reach. "What about you?"

Niva notices the flute, nodding slowly for a long moment. "Are you sure? At least you seem more relaxed…" O'course, there isn't a big crowd of people around to comment on the whole situation. Glancing curiously at the brown, she blinks for a moment before grinning slightly, reaching out one hand idly for his muzzle.

Kysli smiles slightly as the brown lowers his head and moves it in closer. "He's begging" is said quietly. And yes, the rider does seem more relaxed, and the lack of crowd has a lot to do with that. "You never answered…"

Niva glances over curiously at Kysli with a blink. "Who is?" And she rests her hand lightly on the brown's nose, provided he doesn't move. "Me?" A pause and she shrugs slowly. "I'm doing well enough. I try not to think about it." Which is why she's been more and more time working extra shifts in the infirmary or staying downside, rather then finding a ride up to the weyr.

Kysli nods to the dragon who is crooning and nudging the hand. "Bergerath, for scrithches." That gets a smile. "You need to rest though… you're going to wear yourself out." Yes she sounds concerned.

Niva gives the brown's nose idle scritches as she glances over at Kysli with a quick shake of her head. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. I'm getting enough sleep…" Its good practice, really.

Kysli tilts her head, sitting up straighter so she can get a better look at the other. Examing her for a moment she gives her head a little shake. "No, you aren't… you /look/ tired." And usually when one looks tired they have gotten to that point physically already. Bergerath croons more and nudges the hand.

Niva leaves her hand just resting on Bergerath's nose as she glances over at Kysli, quickly shaking her head. "Really.. Really I'm not." And she tries to look more awake then she did before she hurriedly glances away. If she can't be seen, she can't look tired, can she?

Kysli sighs and gets to her feet, offering a hand to the other. "I'm getting you to the weyr for at least a nap." She shakes her head, how come healers never seem to take care of /themselves/.

Niva looks up at her, crossing her arms infront of her, arching an eyebrow. "What if I don't want to take a nap." So what if she's acting like a little kid. "I don't want to go to sleep. At least not up there." Because they have problems admitting they themselves have problems. That's why.

Kysli seems to think about this for a moment. "Why not up there?" First address that issue than go for the others.

Niva makes a face. "Cause if I go up there I have to admit that's he's gone." At least she actually said it. She really must be tired if she's not refusing to answer.

Kysli offers her hand again. "Not like he's ever there… but if you want we can go to my weyr." Just someplace with a good bed. The younger woman needs rest and soon. "A tired healer isn't a good thing."

Niva makes a face and shakes her head. "But he was there enough. And now, Alhenaeth isn't even up there, since he's on the sands. So its even worse." And she looks at Kys with wide eyes, biting her lip. "Do you care?" And with a quick shake of her head, she looks slightly sheepish. "There hasn't been anything big, so it hasn't mattered."

Kysli shakes her head, "No, I don't mind… as long as you get sleep. Come on" Hand is still there for taking. "And if there is any emergency, you aren't in any shape to deal with it."

Niva eyes the hand for a long moment before sighing softly and taking it with a reluctant nod. "I suppose…. But you'll wake me up if there's anything important? Or if I sleep too long?"

Kysli nods and helps to pull the other up. "Can you get up on Bergerath yourself?" One would think the healer would be used to climbing up on a larger dragon anyhow.

Niva nods hurriedly, standing up and turning to start up Bergerath's side. "I'm not that sleepy…" Really now. Although she usually manages to hitch a ride from a petite green after her shifts. Easier that way.
