Xanadu Weyr - Caverns
A massive cavern in it's own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as are the walls where numerous tapestries hang to provide brilliant color and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt, leveled carefully but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.
The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area, however, is the one near the Kitchens where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. Its plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr and equally plain that on such occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are appropriated from all the other areas.
A big fireplace is set into the wall near the Kitchens as well, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good view of all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colors of undyed wool.
Exits lead off in all directions, a big archway the largest and that leading outside. Shallow stairs to the west lead to the offices and administration area while tunnels to the east lead to the infirmary, kitchen and resident's quarters. Southwards, a sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs and southwest is a wide tunnel, carefully roped off to avoid accidents.
Messev nods. "Yeah, I'll make sure to do that." Both of them are sitting on a couch, eating food. Messev has juice, Kysli has wine.
Kysli actually is out of wine, it's a sad thing, pout… anyhow, she places the empty glass down and starts working on food some more. "Sounds good."
Niva wanders into the caverns from the direction of the office, though this time she's free of both papers and offending knots that need new owners. Instead, some clothing is tossed over her arm as she makes her way to the serving table, carefully pouring herself a glass of klah, turning to peer at those in the cavern.
Messev drains his glass of the last of his juice, setting the glass on the floor a bit aways from his feet so he doesn't knock it over. Niva's arrival in the room gets a wave towards her. "Yeah." he says to Kysli.
Kysli glances in the direction of the wave and grins. "Hey Niva." is said with a grin.
Niva arches an eyebrow at Messev and Kysli, though she inclines her head to the brownrider, crossing the room to deposit the clothes over the back of the couch. "There ya go Kys." And then she flops down in a chair of her own.
Smelling strongly of sea water, ship rot and turpintine, a rather weather but content looking T'eo meanders in, fussing a little with his windknotted long hair. He doesn't seem to have attained any more grance than usual on land as he trips over a small rise in the enterance way and stumbles to catch himself. Yes, he's gained several looks, but definately not surprised ones. Erhem. He regains his composure and shoots an accusatory stare at the ground.
Messev smiles at Niva as she comes closer, then the entrance of T'eo gets an astonished glance.
Kysli blinks and gives Niva a slightly confused glance. "There I go what? What's this?" Niva probably forgot to mention to Kys what she was 'plotting' or something. T'eo entering gets a stiffle laugh, covering by one hand. Snerk.
Ah yes, the great, graceful (acting?) Weyrleader arrives and Niva just rolls her eyes as she takes a sip of her klah. "You might want to practice regaining your land legs, you know, before you walk into meetings with the other 'leaders. They might be a bit more.. critical." And she winks at him, shifting a bit, and then glancing at Kysli, with a bit of a grin. "Clothes.." That's all the explanation Niva must think it needs, because that's all that's said.
T'eo clears his throat as if not uite understanding the Weyrwoman, but of course he does. He takes it all in stride though. Quite literally, as he heads on over towards them, curious. "Hello all." He says, trying to ignore Kysli's stifled laughter. He can walk… really he can. He casts a curious look at the clothes.
Messev glances at T'eo, blinking slightly. His gaze goes to the knot, and suddenly he looks as if a light went off over his head. "Hello, sir." he says, then also eyes the clothes. "What are thse for?" he asks.
Kysli grins brightly at T'eo. "Hello" And then Niva gets a glance. "Yes, what /are/ these for?" She's quite curious as well as confused and goes for another sip of wine and pouts, darnit, forgot it was empty.
Niva keeps her laughter at T'eo quiet, before glancing back at Messev, blinking at him and Kysli. "Well, she borrowed clothes from me, and I promised her some. There they are." Faranth only knows how long ago that was, but well, Niva isn't always the most prompt person.
T'eo gives the boy a double take. He definately wasn't used to being called 'sir'. He gives him a broad grin that's followed by a chuckle at the very befuddled Kysli. "I shall be back," He declares, heading over to get some tea. He returns but a few moments later and takes a seat nextto the pile of clothes, giving them a scrutinizing look.
Messev just shrugs slightly. Lowly apprentice… "How are you today, Ma'am?" he says to Niva. My, who's the polite one?
Kysli can't help but smirk at the politeness it's funny, really, it is. The clothes are peered at. "Oh… I don't remember that…" Ah well, clothes are picked through curiously at this point.
Niva is caught rather off guard by the ma'am. After all, she's used to little impolite scamps. Oh, and the screams of her daughter. "See anything you like, T'eo? Though, you might stretch them out.. And you'd probably need a sweater." A wink and she remains in her chair, sipping at her klah.
T'eo gives her a disgusted look, sipping his tea. "I don't even know how you'd put something like this…" He holds up a a paticular piece. "…on, let alone go out in publick with it."
Messev sits back for now, just listening to everyone talk around him.
Kysli blinks at the particular piece that T'eo holds up. "Niva.. you /know/ I'd never wear that." Slight shiver. Gah… evil clothing. Hopefully there is something wearable in the pile.
Niva rolls her eyes slightly as she eyes the piece picked out. "She doesn't need to go out in public, though. She can just wear it for T'bear. Or, you could wear it for L'alie." Another wink at T'eo and she shakes her head. She thinks everything's wearable..
T'eo chokes on his tea and drops the piece quickly. He coughs a bit then looks at the piece. "… not my style…" Though he wouldn't mind seeing L'alie in that. He carefully sifts through more stuff. Women… weird creatures. "I do't even OWN this much stuff let along have it for extra."
Kysli stiffles another laugh at T'eo but nods. "I know exactly how you feel." She's not the best specimen of a woman remember. Picking up the pile she starts plucking through it. "Not that there is actually much cloth /in/ them to begin with."
Niva laughs softly, shaking her head. "Oh, I really thought it would be." And then she shrugs slightly. "You'd be amazed what can be accumulated.." Perhaps she likes to procure a bit more then she has room for. And she wrinkles up her nose at Kys. "There's more then enough. You can always layer."
T'eo laughs wholeheartedly. "Yeah, Kys… you can wear three of these." Holds up the piece he origionally held. "Make it a challenge for Tab." He gives her an innocent grin and takes another sip of tea.
Kysli quickly tosses a roll at T'eo with a glare, she's definitly blushing at this point. Oh yeah. Pulling out a skirt she grins slightly. "I like this one.. little short but… it'd be okay."
Niva tugs a lightweight, sleeveless top from near the bottom of the stack, tossing it at Kysli as the brownrider examines the skirt. "How about that?" And she makes a face at T'eo. "Put L'alie in 3 of those, and see how /your/ night goes, Mr. Weyrleader."
T'eo snickers and eyes Niva from over his mug. "You forget, I'm a sea crafter. Impossible rigging is my specialty. Even if it's of a different vessel." He continues sifting. Hm… He pulls out another skirt. "This is nice. Not that I'd wear it, but I like teh color."
Messev keeps an interested check on the discussion about clothes, looking at each item as they're picked up. "Wouldn't want to wear those when it's cold. Or in a cold place, rather." he comments, talking about the sleeveless shirt.
Kysli picks up the sleeveless shirt and grin, obviously liking it. Hey, it has an existant neckline that is actually well, decent? "Aw… but T'eo… I think you'd look stunning in it." Smirk.
Niva continues where Kysli left off. "I'm sure you have the legs to pull it off, T'eo.. I mean, you are a seacrafter." And she grins at Messev. "That's what jackets and sweaters are for…"
T'eo chuckles. "Yeah, I don't have the hips." But he seems to have stopped teasing and is being a bit more helpful. He tugs out another top that's a bit modest aswell then pauses in his digging. "Er… what's -that- for?"
Messev looks over the clothes and grins. "Someone should try them all on for a fashion show." he suggests, looking from one person to another.
Kysli gives Messev a Look… "Niva, don't even /think/ about it." They are clothes for her… wait, she shouldn't have said that should she have. Oopses.
Niva just arches an eyebrow at T'eo with a grin without answering that question, looking back at Messev with an arched eyebrow. "I think that might be a good idea.. Kys, why don't you show us how everything looks on you? Hm?" And the weyrwoman sits innocently in the chair, "Though, Messev, T'eo, you're welcome to join her if you really want to." A wink and she finishes the last bit of her now cold klah.
T'eo snickers and looks at Kysli. "I think I'll leave this to you… Or Messev. Which ever wants. Though I suggest you Kys, seeing as you'll be owning this, er, pile of treasure. Well… you -could- give stuff to Messev if he really wants."
Kysli glares at Niva. "How about… no." Maybe she'd /consider/ it if Teddy was here… but no, nope… heck no. She curls up into the couch, arms crossed inf front of her.
Messev blinks at T'eo."No, thanks. I like my clothes. Don't think I'd look good in a skirt." he says doubtfully.
Niva rolls her eyes slightly. "Why not even just those skirts and tops you liked? I mean, those weren't bad.. Or else it didn't seem like you thought they were." Glancing over at Messev, she winks. "Everyone looks good in one type of skirt or another, really." Elaborate plot? Maybe.
T'eo looks at all of them. "Well I certainly ain't doing it." Pokes Kys. "Yeah… just try on the ones you like. I wouldn't expect you to show off something like…" Fishes through. "…this."
Messev blinks and eyes what T'eo is holding with a startled look. "Um, I don't think those were included, were they?" he asks, glancing at Niva. My, he looks shocked.
Kysli blinks and then turns to look at Niva with an incredulous look. "Niv…" But then she just starts to laugh… oi.
Niva amazingly manages to not blush as she eyes the garment in T'eo's hand with a noncommittal shrug. After all, if she makes a big deal out of it, its all over, right? And then at Kys's comment, she reaches for them, wrinkling up her nose. "A good weyrleader wouldn't do that, T'eo." And a wink and they're hidden in her jacket pocket.
T'eo gives a boute of silent laughter to this. "Yeah well… A good weyrleader can also keep his balance and probably wouldn't be faced with a pile of women's closthing with which to mess with. But with that I should take my leave. Raenth and I both need a good scrubbing. So have fun with your mini fashion show." He stands and winks before heading out.
Messev waves to the Weyrleader as he leaves, then glances over. "Well, um, you can wear the clothes and show everyone else?" he suggests.
Kysli gives T'eo a wave and smile as he leaves. "Later." Blink and she just shakes her head. "I think I'll try them on in the privacy of my own weyr, thankyou."
Niva rolls her eyes at T'eo as he leaves, shaking her head before glancing back to Kysli, sniffing slightly. "Not even just one? So that we can see how it looks and see how T'bear's gonna react ahead of time?" How that works is anyone's guess.
Messev mock pouts. "Aww, no fashion show?" he says with a grin.
Kysli shakes her head slightly. "Nowhere to change anyhow." Nope, really there isn't… just trust her on that one. Leaning back in the couch she gnaws on a roll… one she didn't toss at T'eo
Niva shakes her head. "Go change in my office. Its right there, and there's nobody in it." Nope, she's not dropping it that easily.
Messev grins. "There you go." he says.
Kysli gives the boy a little glare, though she seems amused. "Do you want to go to Landing or no." Slight smirk but ah well.
Niva rolls her eyes some, the offending garment remaining in her pocket as she gets up, stretching some before she gathers up her dishes. "I suppose I should go relieve C'ian of being solely responsible for watching Vivian." After all, that's not something that should be inflicted on any one person longer then necessary, especially as the child's learning to walk. "Enjoy your new clothes, and your trip to landing." She inclines her head to each and wanders off out of the cavern.
