Everything's Fine

Xanadu Weyr - Meadow Ridge
The meadow continues its gentle rolls and dips, grass tall and short waving in the slightest of breezes. Each hill seems to grow a bit higher, a bit steeper, as eventually, the meadow works up to a large ridge, the top flattening out at its new elevation.
From the top of the ridge, the view is certainly something to be admired - higher than the majority of the trees, one can look out over the rest of Xanadu Weyr proper. The houses in the lower meadow - each roof a different color - and the clock tower peeking upwards from the its forest surroundings are all visible, as is the cliff that houses the Weyr Caverns themselves. And yet, the ridge also holds an amazing view of the night sky - horizon to horizon - unaffected by the light pollution of the more heavily traveled regions.

Settled upon the ridge is a rather distinctive looking building - nearing three stories tall, circular grey walls have carefully been erected, and a large dome is settled upon this solid foundation. Large panels make up the roof, aside from one section which remains open, and from which the telescope the struction houses peeks out. Sitting adjacent to the tower is a long, low building, meant to serve as offices, record rooms and dorms for those who man the observatory, as well as providing a handy platform for those who seek to use smaller, hand-held 'scopes.

It is a rest day. One of those coveted days where apprentices of all crafts have a day to themselves to rest and eat and be merry. On these days, ka-el usually finds himself being dragged to the beach, which seems to be the usual spot for him and his friends during the summer. But today … while not quite hiding out, he's not exactly making himself easy to find. He's been rather scarce lately. When not working, he's been keeping to the dormitory to study or lingering about the forges to practice. Orik has been quite happy. Finally it seems as if the boy has his head screwed on straight again! It's just past breakfast time and the sun has not yet fully risen. Kale sits on the ridge, high above Xanadu, with Alloy laying lazily at his side, sprawled in the grass. Kale writes in his notebook, his pen scritching quickly on the paper.

Idrissa has been looking for Kale, off and on all day as she managed to get away from the stables for a time. Willow is there riding upon her shoulder, Ripley on the other. A faint sigh escapes her while she pauses to look around, not seeming to see Kale at the moment. Willow on the other hand, or wing, knows Alloy is around. The green firelizard is up and zooms off fluttering one way and then another before she catches sight of the bronze. A sharp trill escapes the green and she circles around the pair before she lands next to Alloy and poke at him. Pokepokepoke. Rissa watches and then moves that'a way.

With Willow no longer proddy, Alloy is back to his old self. That is, when he's poked he churrrs lazily and rolls over onto his back. Laaaazy firelizard! He blinks his eyes at the green, looking at her with a 'yeeesss?' sort of look on his face. He wiggles his tail, then yawns hugely. Kale pauses in his writing, glancing over to Alloy. Oh, Willow is here too? He quirks a brow, sitting up a bit. If Willow is about….he looks up and around, searching and soon spying Idrissa. He cringes a bit, brows lowering vaguely. Can he escape before she sees him? He glances around. Nope. The only way away is where she's coming from!

Good luck escaping! There is no escape at the moment. Idrissa is making a beeline right towards where Kale happens to be. "So… You've been hiding out here huh?" He won't talk to Soriana, and now he is even hiding from her? Really… That doesn't make her feel very good, even more so that she saw that cringing look he had when she was getting closer. Willow chitters out while she hops on her paws. No she is not all proddy but her belly is proving there will be little eggs soon it seems.

"Hiding?" Kale looks up at her with a minute frown. "I'm out in the open. How is this hiding?" Sure. Out in the open in an area where few people ever go. Definitely … uh, not hiding! His eyes linger on her for a long moment before he points to his notebook. "I'm studying," he says, further building up his case. Definitely not hiding! Alloy finally rolls over and gets onto his paws, yawning one more time. He snuffles at Willow curiously. Something is up! He keeps forgetting what it is, as his mind is a busy busy place, but he kiiinda remembers this is something important. Ish. Kale glances at the two firelizards, then picks up his pen again, jotting down a few more things. "Willow's looking well.." he murmurs.

Idrissa watches Kale a few moments before slowly sitting down next to him, without asking. "Well I haven't seen you since the other day in the cavern." You know the one where Soriana left, and was starting to /cry/. Willow chirrups out and shifts on his paws as she green settles down there next to Alloy. Aww, aren't they cuteness?

Well, there's certainly a good reason for that. He's totally been avoiding the cavern! People are there. Soriana tends to be there. And Idrissa. And if there's one thing Kale knows for certain, it's this: He does not want to face the both of them together. He's quiet for a moment, apparently not minding so much that she's joining him here in his .. hideout. "Been busy," he answers, gesturing to his note filled notebook as proof. "Got a few exams coming up that I want to pass with high marks. Orik's been in a good mood lately. Hoping if I do well enough, he'll let me do a project with him." Which will keep him even busier. Maybe he'll even be taken somewhere for a while. It's a win-win. Alloy snuffles at Willow again. Oh yeah, now he remembers! Something grand is going to happen at some point. He nips the green's cheek, projecting images of food.

Idrissa is quiet as she watches Kale for a few moments, a slight frown seen as he goes on about him being busy, and exams and the like. She looks off trying to think of what to say it seems. Though the attitude from Kale makes her wonder if she should bother with it. "I see," is said after a few thoughts run through her head. "I spoke to Soriana… You really should talk to her Kale. She thinks you want nothing to do with her." She'll just hop right over the fact that his been 'busy' and try to inform him of things he should take care of instead of being neck deep with the smith things. "Unless this was your goal in the end. Make her feel that you hate her and what nothing to do with her. Then make me wonder if you’re done with me as well." This is what happens when teens in relationships don't talk, they start wondering if relationship is over and done with. "If that's what you want fine, but would be nice if you told us instead of hiding and saying nothing at all." Willow chirrups and croons out while she noses and nips back at Alloy, oh food! That would be great.

Kale stiffens at the mentioning of Soriana, his eyes lingering on a word in his notebook for a long time. Not comprehending. Merely staring. Of course she talked to Soriana. Why wouldn't she? The two of them have known each other longer than either one have known him. He doesn't ask what was said, though it turns out that he doesn't have to. His brows begin to furrow as Idrissa goes on, finally peeling his eyes from his notebook to set them on her. But before he can comment on Soriana, she continues with .. herself? Taken aback, he blinks, head rearing back a little as he watches her with a quizzical look. Confusion, beginning to mingle with anger. "Where'd that come from? Didn't I already tell you everything in the observatory? About you? About her? When did I say that my 'goal' was to hurt anybody?" Alloy, oblivious to Kale's frustration, chirps happily and bounces off. Time to go hunting!

Idrissa wouldn't go into detail on what was said even if he did ask! "I haven't talked to you in days, you're here in the middle of nowhere and you don't seem like you want to talk even now." A slight shake of her head is seen. "I don't think you meant to hurt anyone, but Soriana is hurting. She thinks you don't like her and I know you do. Instead of talking to her you have chosen to say and do nothing which is /just/ as bad as hurting someone." Will chitters out happy and curls up in the grasses while waiting for the food to be brought to her!

"This coming from someone who's always so forthcoming with her thoughts and feelings," retorts Kale, quite unkindly. His notebook is flipped closed. "Why is it so shardin' amazing to you that I don't want to talk to you or anyone else about my girlfriend who just ended it with me? Why is it that you think it's only her that's not feeling so grand right now? Perhaps choosing to say and do nothing is the best thing I could possibly do for her. Have you considered that?" he asks, voice growing unintentionally harsh. "I've already told you, Idrissa. She wishes to be with others besides me. Now she can without any issue from me. She'll get over all've this when she finds someone new and she'll be … she'll be happy and that's what matters."

Idrissa deserved that, she knows that she did. The change in his voice makes her pause a moment. "I'm trying to do better at least. Trying to talk to you." She points out. "I know you don't feel grand Kale, I've been worried about you and instead of talking to me… Someone who is supposedly your girlfriend, you have kept it to yourself, leaving me in the dark." A shake of her head is seen. "How do you know that truly? Did you actually speak to her on what she wants and doesn't want? A comment without you finding out what is going on doesn't mean you know the whole story." As for Soriana being happy well she isn't sure. "I don't think she ever will be happy like that again Kale. I don't think she'll be looking for another relationship again." The other she has had have turned out bad after all.

"What is it exactly you're wanting to talk about, Idrissa?" asks Kale, a frown etched over his face. "You use this word over and over. Talk. Talk. Talk to you. What do you want to talk about? What have I left you in the dark with? I've already talked to you about her. I've talked to you about you. What else is there? Alloy?" He ignores Alloy, who returns right on cue, having caught a young tunnelsnake. Yummy yummy, it's lunchtime, Willow! Summertime = good hunting! Kale rises from the grass, standing up while idly brushing off the seat of his pants. "Leave me be about Soriana, will you? I don't know what's left to say about her. She made it pretty clear to me what it was she wanted to do. Now, she can do it. Why wouldn't she be happy?"

Idrissa glowers slightly while she peers at Kale. "Fine." Is all she says. If he doesn't want to talk then she won’t talk! She folds her arms in front of her and just stares off at nothing, nothing at all. Willow chirrups and bounces on her paws over close to Alloy, yay foodz! The green is rather eager to try and snag hold of that tunnel snake, snapsnap.

Fine. Great. Awesome. No more talking, which is just how Kale likes it. He peers down at pouty Idrissa with a lingering frown, ready to pout along with her. Having girlfriends is the most confusing, difficult, and frustrating thing he's ever done thus far! They're so … so … ugh! He exhales a heavy breath, eyeing the firelizards who are snapping and tugging on that tunnelsnake that came from … huh. Where did it come from? Seems as if he missed the whole hunting ordeal. Although walking off is seeming more and more like a grand idea, Kale lingers, gradually returning is attention to Idrissa. "Don't confuse what's goin' on with me and Soriana with me and you."

Idrissa lowers her head slightly and scratches at her cheek a few moments. "I'm not confusing that Kale." So much for /not/ talking. "I just see two of my friends in pain and there isn't anything I can do to help them." She shakes her head a moment and soon glances towards the two firelizards that are busy working on eatting the tunnel snake it seems.

"But it's not your thing. It's our thing. And everything's going to be fine," Kale assures, though not quite sure how fine he'll be feeling when (and it's undoubtedly when and not 'if') he inevitably sees Soriana snuggled up with some guy. Or between some guys. Smiling at them like she used to him. That look of hers that made him feel as if he was something special. Something great to her. .. But yes. Everything will be fine because everything will have to be fine if she is happy with those faceless others that are receiving what was his special look. Fingers are roughly combed through his hair at the thought, and a breath is exhaled. "Sorry I was angry with you."

Idrissa has gone back to being quiet it seems, looking at her finger nails as if she could possibly find some answer there within the dirt of her nails. No… No answers to be found! "It's alright. I'm fine." She's use to people getting mad at her, she's use to the yelling the angry words, just not use to it being Kale whom is angry with her. It’s happened more lately though it seems.

Fine seems to be the word of the hour. Kale nods a little at her, watching for a while longer before he tips his head in the general direction of the weyr. Well, the rest of the weyr. "Gonna grab some lunch. Maybe eat on the beach. … Wanna come with me?" He knows she likes the beach. He owes her enough to try to cheer her up a bit.

Idrissa glances over to him for a few moments, wondering what to say on that. She chews on her lip a moment before nodding. "Alright." That would be sort of nice. She shifts and stands up, brushing herself of to make sure no grass is clinging to her it seems. "Ready when you are then."

Kale will have to remind himself that he does still have Idrissa, and if he wishes to keep her as a friend or anything else, he'll have to remember that, else she'll start forgetting. Once she's up, he manages the first smile of the day, albeit a small one, and takes her hand. "Thanks." And then he's off with her to pick up food and hopefully have a pleasant beachside lunch.
