Laundry Gone Awry!

Xanadu Weyr - Clearing
A wide clearing stretches from east to west, the ground packed hard although grass grows across most of it. Trees are strictly forbidden in this space, their danger to the constant draconic traffic reason enough to banish them to the forest that creates a border to the north. Where the ground is less trampled, tiny flowers poke their delicate heads out from their shaded hiding places with upturned petals to wave to whoever may be looking.
The cliff looms imposingly on two sides. Toward the southwest, a spire stretches up to high above where the everpresent watchdragon sits on a lonely peak with Xanadu's Starstones. A massive rocky spur extends to the north, curved slightly to hold the clearing and pocked with doors and windows.
The hatching arena and Dragonhealers' Annex sit to the southeast, built together into a single complex that takes up a large portion of the perimeter beneath its domed roof. To the southwest, wide steps lead up to the caverns, and almost directly south is the entrance to the Infirmary. Nestled between the infirmary and the main caverns there's a human-sized archway with frequent traffic - it leads to the Wanderin' Wherry Tavern.
Tucked near the arch, just off to one side is a tiny wood-frame shop bearing the name 'Wildflower Boutique'. Windows have been cut along the cliff in various places along the cliff. Those of the administrative offices are placed to have the best view of Xanadu's airspace - to the southwest, over the entrance to the caverns and the infirmary. Others mark the dormitories and those of lucky residents, while toward the northern edge of that spur cluster the windows and entrances to the crafters' complex.
The rest of the Weyr lies to the north and east - a broad road that leads through the meadow and the trees of the forest beyond. At the far northern edge of the clearing, just inside the perimeter kept clear of trees, a clocktower sits and proudly displays the hour.

It is spring.. well late spring at least and there is plenty of warm weather to go around, plenty of fun to be had and all that good stuff. A green dragon is gliding downwards towards the clearing and once near enough Tahryth lands with a slight hop to her step while her wings shake and tail sways. The green is moving on towards the Craft Complex while Idrissa is busy flipping through a bunch of papers on a clipboard that she has. "I think it's more for the kitchen though.. It's sugar, and flavoring and the like." She is having a conversation with Tahryth and the green warbles about thinking it should be taken elsewhere. There is a few moments talk between the two before finally the green givens in and is heading towards the caverns, not that she is going in them but near enough to drop the crates she is carrying.

It's always during the most ordinary days that the extraordinary unexpectedly manifests, isn't it? Like today. It's calm! And springlike. Dragons are soaring overhead and landing neatly in the clearing. See? Ordinary. Now … for the unordinary. *thud…thud…thud, thud, clunk! clank! Cloink!* These odd sounds are coming from the directions of the craft complex in increasingly loud increments. And at the apex, there's a squeal. "Aiee!" Thud! The door of a smaller addition to the side flings open, and from it spills a wave of water, complete with suds, spilling out onto the soon-to-be-muddy road.

Charged with kitchen duties today is always a plus, as it happens to be the youth's favorite duty out of all the ones given, although the others aren't bad, Kaitro does enjoy cooking. He's about to step out onto the clearing when there's a sudden ruckus, sending a flood of water pouring at the candidate's heels and getting both his socks and shoes soaked. He yelps, leaping backwards and landing with a squelch. His eyes cast towards the source of the water, "What in Faranth's name…" He trails off, distracted only for a moment with Idrissa and her green, a hand lifting in greeting.

Idrissa pauses as she hears the noise and glances back towards the Craft Hall once more. "What… is going on…?" Not that she expects an answer. Tahryth warbles out once she catches sight of Kaitro and turns moving towards him and lowers her head to eye the wet ground he is stepping in.. and now she is too. The green makes a face and snorts out while lifting her head and there is a lash of it before she lifts a foot and gives it a shake which sends mud and soapy water flying. Watch out! Idrissa ahs a touch and smiles to Kaitro. "Hey.. You alright down there Kaitro?" She turns an soon hops down onto her dragon's front leg and then to the wet ground which she makes a face at.

"Oh no. Oh no no no no!" A freckly faced girl probably no older than thirteen steps out of the fountain that once was a laundry room. She holds up her long skirt, though it's a useless effort. She's soaked! And soapy. And looking rather pale as soapy water streams down the pathway. That…is surely going to bring attention to herself. "Sorry, sorry! Ohmygosh I'm so sorry!" she says at the wet-socked Kaitro over yon and..oh no! Is that a rider? And a mud-flinging dragon! Oh no! She looks back to the laundry room where heavy thunking sounds are still heard and soapy water pours out around her ankles. Then, she squelches outside, hurrying towards Kaitro. "You there! You, um…you're a Candidate, ain'tcha? Yeh've gotta help me! It's in the rules books, innit? To help where there's maybe trouble?"

If being soaked with soapy water wasn't enough, soon Kai's getting mud flecked all over him, causing some of the stuff to land in his hair, on his clothes and speckling his once clean clothes. Kai lets out a little sigh, deciding that this is just not his day. Kaitro's eyes flicker towards the girl, blinking. "Yeah…I'm a candidate. What do you need help with? I might be able to help…"

Idrissa pauses slightly and looks sheepishly at Kaitro. "I'm sorry Kaitro.." She sends a look to Tahryth and eyes her dragon a bit. Really?! The green warbles and lowers her head to give Kaitro a few licks to work on getting the mud off, see? She HELPS. Rissa glances to the girl and she peeks at her curiously. "What happened..?" Though with a glance to the laundry room she could guess.

Beam! Yesss, he's going to help! "Y'see…eek!" Please excuse her as she stumbles backward a bit, away from a lickity dragon's tongue! Better him then her! "Uhm.. Y'see, I.. I-I mean somebody broke the new clothes washer machine…thingy," she says, pointing to the craft-side laundry room, still oozing soap and clunking. "It's goin' berserk! I couldn't stop it an' now it's spewin' out water an' soapsuds an' everything everywhere!" As if they couldn't see. Big, pleading brown eyes bounce from Candidate, to rider, back to Candidate. "You've gotta help me! The Journeymen are gonna skin me alive!"

Brows arch into his hairline as the dragon tongue licks against his body, "er…not that I don't appreciate it, I can go get washed off later. It's really no problem…" He laughs, reaching up to push the dragon's head from him as his eyes flicker towards the candidate. "Thanks, Idrissa, I appreciate it. But I can go take a bath after this. It's no problem. Really." And he's about to get dirty again anyway. His attention returns towards the girl, a brow arching slightly. "Right. Someone broke it. Did you try unplugging it?" And he'll go inside, trudging through the soapy water to see if she did that.

Idrissa shakes her head slightly and looks a bit amused before she smiles to Kaitro for being a good sport with Tahryth. The green warbles out and actually looks like she is going to give that freckled hair girl a lick before the girl is escaping! Idrissa peeks at the girl before nodding. "Come on then.. Let's go look at it?" An get more dirty in the process! She follows Kaitro n towards the room in question and peeks inside at the mess.. "Oh boy.."

"Uh huh. Someone." Not her. No siree! .. They believe her, right? But the girl is delighted that she has a pair of heroes to help her! While thankfully, escaping a dragon lick. She guides them back to the source of the problem, trudging through the river of mud, back to the laundry room. Did she try.. "Unplugging?" Well.. She tried yelling and screaming and being frantic! Unplugging, not so much.. "Uuuuh. Wellll.. Oh no!" She points to the washing machine in question. It's trying to do its job, really it is! But 'somebody' sure did pack a lot of laundry in there and probably half a container of soap too! And so, clogged, it continues to try to churn its load while water and soap gushes from the rim, turning the little room into a messy lake an inch and a half deep. Ga-THUNK, Ga-THUNK! The girl presses her hand to her ears. "Can ya make it stop??"

Kaitro grunts loudly as he trudges through the soapy water, shaking his head at the girl in disbelief. He doesn't say anything except to go to the washer and shove it out of the way so that he can get to where it's plugged in. He pulls the coard which causes the washer to loose power and stop spitting out water. "Well, here's the problem. There's way too much stuff in here and the system's all clogged up. Whowever used this last didn't use it right." And the candidate starts to pick out clothing, throwing them into a hamper so he can get a look at the moter. He may not be a handyman, but he has a little bit of experience with this sort of thing.

Idrissa tilts her head as she watches, and is doing her best not to go splashing through the puddles as she goes. She lets Kaitro get to work at unplugging the machine and will be there to give a hand after the fact! Clothing is pulled out and this and then and she is soon peeking inside the machine to see what is going on under the hood. "Maybe it was just too filled with clothing.. Or soap.. OR.. water..?"

Ga-THUNK! Ga-THUNK! Ga-…silence. Blinkblink. The youngster slowly uncovers her ears as the machine finally stops its noise, and…best of it, the steady stream of soapy water gradually comes to a stop as well. She beams widely. "You've done it!" she says, clapping her hands together. "Ohmygosh that was some awful clangin', wasn't it?" She sloshes through the water, then pauses. "Geeze, it's a mess in here!" Whoever will clean it up? She looks guiltily at them both at the mentioning of clogs and overstuffed clothing. "Oh…erm, is that what it was? Golly..heh-heh, I reckon whoever did that won't be doin' it again notime soon!" Sweatdrop. "Is…is the machine ruined and broke forever?" she asks, moving close enough to peek inside too, ducking the soggy clothes that are being tossed.

There's a brief bout of muttering as Kaitro half dissapears into the machiene doing his best to unclog the system and grumbling the whole time he does it, finally he pulls himself out and wraps his arms about his chest. If he was dry earlier, he's certainly drenched now. "Well, I've removed most of the clothing. It should work now." He mutters half to himself, turning towards Idrissa, "I'm gonna turn it on now, see if it works." He'll wait for her to be free of the machine before plugging it in yet again, and soon the washer is running again, this time as intended and Kai gives himself a little nod. "Right. It's fixed. This mess should get cleaned up and I'll go get a mop to do that. Make sure you don't load it as much next time." And he's off to go get a mop.

Idrissa nods a touch and moves back while brushes her hands off and she grins as the machine works once more. "Hey… Good job Kaitro." She offers before he is off to get a mop it seems. "Alrighty, I'll help her clean stuff up." She's nice like that and she points to the girl. "Come on then, lets pick it up." Oh no she is not going to do it on her own! It'll take a while for certain..

The youngster watches on nervously. She'll be done for if she broke this fancy machine! Will it work? She looks hopefully at Kaitro as he proclaims that he's going to plug it back in. She takes a few backwards steps, bracing herself for the worse! She covers her ears and then…Eureka! "You've done it, again!" she exclaims joyfully, bringing her hands together in awe. "I sure owe you one, Mister Candidate. You've done saved my hide!" Even though this wasn't her doing at all! She's ever-so-grateful that the two of them are so kind enough to even help her clean up. Well isn't this her lucky day! "Thank you. Thank you!" she says before she too hops to it. Cleaning up is always far more fun when it's done with others!
