Xanadu Weyr - Beach
The unerring range of subdued white rises and falls in a multitude of sandy dunes, creating an endless amount of tiny valleys constantly demolished and rebuilt by the frequent arrival or departure of a dragon. Smoothing out as it slopes gently to the edge of the deep blue water, the sand darkens and a shell here and there stands out for children to collect. The beach itself is set along a low cliff - the height lessoning as one heads eastwards, blocking a portion of the beach from direct access.
The wide wide stretch of water opens up to the east, the far distant shore way beyond the horizon and the beach curves ever so slowly round to east and west, distant arms of land embracing the wind-ruffled Caspian Lake. East leads up to the mouth of the Rubicon River, where the protecting cliff is merely an arms length higher then the sand, and beyond that, a winding road leading out of Xanadu's territory. Westwards, the beach narrows as the cliff swings out, leaving a path wide enough for dragons in single file before cutting in to the sheltered cove designated the Weyrling Beach. However, cut in the cliff face to the north are a variety of rough, wide staircases, providing access to the clearing and to the meadow.

A very sunny late afternoon at Xanadu and Kera's duties for the day are finished. A quick change out of her uniform and to pick the package then she's off to track down the transport rider. Minimur tries to land on her shoulder, but with the heavy bundle, she shrugs him off. "Not now ya Mini, this is heavy enough already." is muttered as the brown veers off to flutter ahead of the strolling apprentice. Several spots are checked before one last place is attempted. Balancing the wrapped package on her hip, she takes the path towards the beach. Several dragons catch her eye quickly as they enjoy the waves while their riders tend to scrubbing. Kera squints against the glare of the sun, looking for someone specific, as she starts trudging through the sand.

Idrissa is down enjoying a water day on the beach, with Tahryth not to far off. The pair are resting under a bit of an overhang near where the Weyrling beach can be seen to enjoy some of the cool breeze that is blown up through there. Rissa has on a tanktop, shorts and no shoes, her hair is pulled back and the scars across her arms are easy to pick up. She isn't expecting anyone to come looking for her, and after a long day of doing deliveries she seems to enjoy the quiet moment.

Kera continues through the sand, passing by several dragons and riders, along with other weyrfolk. Friendly smiles and waves are given as she goes by, and finally spots her target ahead getting a bit of sun. Taking a moment to pause and shift the awkward package to her other hip, she moves along once more. Once she gets a little closer, she calls out. "G'afternoon Idrissa." Then to the dragon "You as well Tahryth." A quick dip of her head offered to both while she gets closer. The scars are noticed, but she sees scares frequently in the infirmary, thus doesn't think they need commenting on. "I was about to give up finding ya for the day." She crouches down, and settles the bundle down carefully.

Idrissa has had her scars for a very long time, still she isn't one to normally have them so visable. Her hand rubs slightly against her right elbow eyeing the scars there quietly for a few moments before there is the voice that catches her attention. She shifts to glance over to Kera, a soft smile seen while she nods. "Hello Kera, how are you?" Her gaze settles upon the bundle curiously. "Another package to get delivered?" Tarhyth lifts her head, a soft crooning warble escaping the green to greet the little healer.

Kera reaches up to swipe at her seaty face is Minimur comes blurring from the treeline with several other lizards. A quick shrill whistle has him breaking off from the group and winging over to hover briefly over Kera before landing on her shoulder. He chitters greetings all around before rubbing against the healer's cheek. Peering back to Idrissa, she nods with a quick grin. "Sorta. As soon as ya take it, it will be delivered." Flashing an amused wink she waves the rider closer towards the sorta cubelike hide bundle. "Something I thought ya could decorate your weyr with…maybe." Kera seems really amused and is trying to not grin too much.

Idrissa ponders this, a slight ah escapes her and she looks back at the bundle looking a bit unsure. "You… Didn't have to get me anything." This said softly as she seems a but unsure what to say. Another moment passes before she shifts forward to slowly pick up the cubelike bundle and chews on her lip a moment before going about slowly opening it. "Not to sure what to say… Last thing I was really given was my Weyr." She's never been given many gifts, nore does she expect or look for them either.

Kera shrugs as she waves off Idrissa's worry. "I know that. But I got this idea in my head, and well.." She giggles a moment while gesturing to the bundle "…you'll see." As Idrissa takes the bundle, Kera slowly eases back to plop onto the sand without unsettling Minimur. She scratches along the brown's neck, notcing a dry spot which she starts attending to while the rider opens her present. "Then now ya have something to add to the weyr."

Idrissa peers at the box curiously, she soon chuckles, blushing even as she smiles. A glance is sent to Kera once she's looked it all over. "You did this all yourself?" She questions curiously while closing the lid and seeming a bit amused by the words upon it. "Thank you Kera… I love." The rider seems to honestly mean that too.

Kera grins as Idrissa as she takes in the box and gives the the hold she had on her humour. Chuckling freely now. "It does open without the breaking of glass of course. But I just thought it would be amusing." Stifling her chuckles a bit. "It can either be placed on a table, or hung. However ya wish." She reaches into her waist pouch for a small oil jar, which she begins to dab over Minimur and rub in. "Glad ya like it. I'm afraid though, you'll need to deliver it the rest of the way. That thing seem to get heavy after a while of carrying it around."

Idrissa smiles and nods while setting the box down. "I'll put it someplace easy to get how's that?" This questioned with an amused tone while she gives the box a faint patpat. "Not to worry. I have Tahryth here that I'm sure will love to help me take it the rest of the way." A soft smile is seen. "How have you been?"

Kera nods with a smile as she continues to oil the brown, said lizard slinking down her arm as she works the oil in. Her attention slips to Tahryth when the green is mentioned for a couple of seconds before the rider has her attention again. "Good thing for you, I think I may have a bruise on my hip from how I was carrying it." She rubs over her hip as if it is sore, but she's only joking, given away by the grin she has. "I've been alright. Studies, duties,… I had a visit from my mom and dad. They want me to come home a few days to visit." The apprentice gives a little roll of her eyes at that.

Idrissa chuckles softly. "You should have found someone to take it for you." This said with an amused tone at the idea. A nod is seen while she lets her arms settle down upon her lap. at the rest she ponders a moment. "You should go see them… I know it seems like they are all being 'parent' like but.. yeah.." There is a pause, a slight frown seen and she glances off a moment at the thought.

Kera considers the comment and shrugs "Nah, I didn't want to take the chance of someone breaking it if it got tossed around." Smiling as she finishes with tending to Minimur's dry spots. "Besides, why pay someone else to lug it around the Weyr when I can do it myself." At least she knows when to spend her marks and when to save them. Listening to the advice about her parents a little sigh is given. "You're right, I know. I'll have to talk with Journeyman Cyrus and see how many days I can manage."

Idrissa smiles a bit and nods before she looks back to the other. "Good point." She offers softly at the idea. "Just talk to Cyrus, I'm sure he'd understand why you'd need to the time off." A soft smile is seen for a moment, her mind wandering. "Trust me, it's good to spend time with them while you can."

Kera nods slowly as she gives that a bit of thought. "I'll see what happens with it." Her gaze drifts around the beach and she watches the various dragons here or there as she goes on. "How bout yourself? You been spending time out in /those/ beast barns?" The apprentice is referring to the runners that she's noticed the rider has a liking for. "Maybe that's why I've had so much trouble tracking ya down for the past sevenday?" The apprentice's attention slowly drifts back to the rider while she talks.

Idrissa shrugs at this and lowers her gaze to her hands looking over them a few moments, picking at a nail a few moments. "I've just been busy with everything going on around here lately. Figured it would be best if I wasn't around." So much has happened at Xanadu over the turns, so much heart ache and scars that linger. "I still work with runners when I can, they make me happy so I can't give that up."

Kera 's head cants slightly as she watches Idrissa, nodding slowly after a moment. "Well, if they make ya happy, then's fair enough. For you that is." She gestures to the rider briefly "Me. Nah. I learned my lesson to stay away from them long time ago. My dad had one that used to kick and bite whenever I got near." Shifting her position she points out a scare across her shin. "Got me good a couple of times." She shrugs off the memory quick enough, as she considers her friend. Busying her hands with fiddling with her brown. "I'm not sure I understand what ya mean Idrissa. But if ya want to talk about anything, maybe I can offer an outside observation…or something."

Idrissa smiles a bit and chuckles, a shrug is seen. "I just have a way with them I suppose. I never truely had a problem with one. Only managed to get knocked around with some brusies and the like." As for the rest she lifts her head a touch. "It's alright Kera, nothing for you to worry over." This said softly, not wanting to drag her into the mess that is her life it seems.

Kera gives a little nod. "Well, if ya change your mind and wanna chat, I can be found in the infirmary, or craft lounge." A smile is offered to her friend before she an amused huff slips out. "As for the runners. I still say they are vicious and sneaky." A determined nod dips her head after that before she sighs and gets to her feet. "I need to get something to eat. Wanna come with to the caverns?" She brushes off clinging sand from her legs and backside.

Idrissa smiles a moment and soon nods. "I will.. An.. No I think I'm going to hang out here for now." A glance is sent towards the caverns before she glances back to Kera. "I don't think runners are that bad… Would you maybe want to go riding, I could try and show you? I'd even let you ride my runner, his sound and safe, honestly."

Kera 's brow lift clearly says that Idrissa just may have lost her mind. A quick shake of her head "I don't think that is a good idea Idrissa. I don't get along with them, and they don't like me. Best we keep some distance." Her nod clearly says she thinks that is just an excellant plan. A wiggle of her fingers to the green pair "Have a g'evening you two." Kera includes Tahryth in her head nods and waves then she's off, moving quicker now that she's not lugging the heavy little cabinet around.

Idrissa looks amused at the look, a soft smile seen. "I bet I'll change your mind at some point." This said with an amused tone at the thought. A nod is seen and she waves after the other then. "Have a good night Kera." Tahryth warbles out after the leaving healer.
