Seesaw Miners

Xanadu Weyr - The Firelizard Theatre

There are many different things to look at here. In the northern part of this field lies a massive fort made out of wood. About 10 feet to the right of the fort, there are wooden sit-toys carved in the likeness of dragons and even painted as such. In the middle of the field are two sets of swings suspended from a wooden beam, held up by two wooden beams on either side. To the left of the swings is a 5 by 6 rectangular box filled not quite to the top with sand from Xanadu Weyr's Beach. To the right of the swings are monkey bars, completely crafted out of wood. In front of you are two seesaws, both made out of wood. Finally, to your near left are two benches underneath a large Lemosian Ironwood tree. You find yourself standing in the Courtyard of The Firelizard.

It's just barely dawn and Hyrlon is, as has become a staple activity of late, looking for Janelle. She'd always liked the playground, so he started there, casting his glance for his… friend? He wasn't certain, their status was still… under construction…

Janelle is, indeed, here.. only this time, she is here all on he rlosesome, no wher, no firelizards, just the handler on her own. And apparantly the teeter-totter isn't too much fun, by herself. she's sitting at the hinge of one, shifting her weight to send imaginary people up and down, up and down.

Hyrlon's eyes brighten slightly and he chuckles, "Want me to sit on one end and you on the other so it works right, Janelle?" He, too, is dragonkin-less at the moment, "How was your shift?"

Janelle looks up, melancholy being relaced by a much-apreciated grin. "Always coming to my rescue.." One leg swings over the edge, so she can stand. She heads in Hyr's direction, offering a hug, before seating herself down on the near end. "Shift was uneventful, really."

Hyrlon hugs her back and grins as he moves to the opposite side of the see-saw, "I'd think that was a good think. We had a small gas pocket on mine. Had to evacuate and pump our tunnel… No injuries, though."

Janelle nods some, "Good, but borring." Borring isn't -always- bad though, is it? "Any word about Kanta yet? How Kask's doing?"

Hyrlon's mouth takes on a grim set, "Kanta's trapped behind a cave in. They're workign day in and day out to get her out. Kask's distraught. I… I think she'll make it… Hysk and I were going to go back on our next rest day and help more."

Janelle nods some. She pushes up into the air, letting Hyr go down to the ground. "At least, knowing Kask's been found is going to help us.. so long as KAsk's not absolutely wild, that'd be a good sign that Kanta's still doing alright."

Hyrlon nods, letting the see-saw swing down, then pushing back up off the ground, "She's trying harder than anyone to get to those trapped on the other side… and that craft-rider who was there the day of the cave in was sharding useless… I basically had to tell him how to put an air shaft in." He shakes his head and sighs, "Definitely not a mine-worker, must have some other speciality…"

Janelle shakes her head briefly. "Even I could've helped with that.. Mind you, I"m trained for search and rescue." She chuckles briefly.

Hyrlon chuckles, "Yeah… he definitely /wasn't/"

Janelle grins briefly. It's followed by a sigh, however, as she shrugs. "What will be will be, though.. There's reason for everything, even if we don't know or understand it."

Hyrlon shrugs, "He was at least strong enough to keep the apprentices and line and force the pole through, which was good… just not used to baby-stepping riders through things…"

Janelle wrinkles her nose, "Hey.. not all apprentices need to be 'kept in line', there, Journeyman." She grins, still going up and down at will, on the sea-saw.

Hyrlon grins, "Of course not, but at the hall there are a lot of fresh ones that need more help than someone as skilled as you." Flattery? Of /course/ not…

Janelle snorts. She's grining though, wordless when it comes to any sort of retort on the matter.
