Reach for the Stars

Xanadu Weyr - Clearing
A wide clearing stretches from east to west, the ground packed hard although grass grows across most of it. Trees are strictly forbidden in this space, their danger to the constant draconic traffic reason enough to banish them to the forest that creates a border to the north. Where the ground is less trampled, tiny flowers poke their delicate heads out from their shaded hiding places with upturned petals to wave to whoever may be looking.
The cliff looms imposingly on three sides, stretching upwards all the way up the side of the rock edifice where, high above on Xanadu's Star Stones, the ever-present watchdragon sits on the lonely peak. Directly south is the hatching arena, the large round complex taking up a large portion of the perimeter, a line of trees visible beyond it. Southeast are wide steps leading up to the caverns and eastwards is the large entrance to the Infirmary. Somewhat north of the infirmary is a human-sized archway that has a frequent quantity of traffic — it leads to the Wandering Wherry Tavern. Tucked neatly under the arch, to one side is a tiny wood-frame shop bearing the name 'Petals and Pots Garden Shop'. Southwest lies cliffs where windows for the administrative offices have been cut. Underneath them are the entrances to the crafters complex and the resident's cavern while north and west along the cliff's base, a broad path leads to the feeding grounds. Due north is the spacious trail that leads to the rest of the Weyr - the meadow, the forest beyond.

With things so tense in the dragonhealer's annex, Thea has become increasingly concerned with the effect on the candidates. Not that she doesn't have a lot of other things on her mind, but the young ones are the future of Xanadu Weyr and thus their emotional well-being is of great importance to her. With that in mind, the Candidates have been instructed to pack 3 days change of clothes, bring a pillow and bedroll, dress warmly (it is winter, after all) and meet in the clearing. The Weyrwoman doesn't have a lot of time, the AWLMs busy with wing matters, so it falls to her to gather and transport them. When all are assembled, she begins getting them aboard Seryth, who is patiently crouched, and helps those who need it, to buckle into the flight harness.

One of the most recently searched Candidates has been indeed sleepless and concerned over the events of recent. Young Mikal soothes the restless young firelizard on his shoulder as he steps out of the barracks with his pack slung over his shoulder that she isn't resting on. He glances around to the other candidates as if to see if they have any guesses to where they are going. Wordlessly he climbs aboard, needing a bit of a hand as the queen is a larger dragon that he is used to mounting.

Soriana is pretty well the poster child for worrying too much about what's going on in the annex. But, well, she's here now, and the prospect of adventure is enough to make her smile, though she hangs back a bit to let some of the candidates less familiar with dragons get on first and get the 'good seats'. Besides, the young gold firelizard on the shoulder of hers opposite the brown is taking a fair bit of her attention - packing three days of clothing is easy. Wrangling a baby firelizard is more challenging, especially this one. Haruhi's giving the dragon a challenging look, like 'I can totally take her'. Eventually, though, Sori goes and joins the rest on Seryth's back with easy, familiar motions. No hand needed for her!

Ooh, mysterious things are happening. Mysterious things like… suddenly being told to get your things together and meet at a dragon! If ka-el's mind was troubled before, this at least would be a good thing to distract him. But as it is, a large source of his troubles has been alleviated with Alloy's return! And so it's with happier spirits (if still not still slightly troubled thoughts of Yumeth's clutch and its wellbeing) that hearrives in the clearing with a backpack stuffed with the asked for things, bedroll under his arm, and Alloy clutched on his shoulder. He glances around at the candidates here, grinning at nearly all, waving to Mikal, then marveling at Seryth's sheer size! Alloy marvels. Like the others, he climbs aboard. Definitely not as graceful as some, but he gets there!

Idrissa has follows along after the other candidates, a pack with the things she needs, pillow and bedroll all rolled up and teathered to said pack to keep it in place. Clothing wise she has on thick long sleeved shirt, jeans, boots and a nice thick jacket. Her little green firelizard is clinging to her shoulder, eyeing the rather large Seryth, which actually makes Willow start to quiver. Rissa blinks and ohs softly before letting the little green scramble down into her jacket and curl around her neck, all safe now! Sure.. Rissa follows after the other getting on Seryth, a quick thankyou being offered to both Thea and Seryth. An she goes about getting strapped in. She catches sight of Kale and Alloy and grins. "Hey, he came back!" Is offered before a faint oh escapes her, no one heard that right?

Xanadu Weyr - Clearing Sky
The busiest spot of the Weyr, this is an interesting place to watch if one has a safe vantage point. Dragons and firelizards are almost always in the air here, the latter sometimes an unpredictable swarm flittering in and out of *between*. South is a massive tunnel, beginning at ground level but stretching high enough to be flown into although as yet, there is a strict injunction from Xanadu's Queens that no dragon is the venture down that tunnel without explicit permission. Near the tunnel is a huge ledge, big enough to hold all the Weyr's golds and most of the bronzes at once. The rest of the cliff is pockmarked with ledges marking dragon weyrs and in the nearest, you can just make out the deep gouges made by generations of dragon claws.

Xanadu Weyr - High Sky
It is easy to see why the settlers of Xanadu chose this exact spot to live out their lives. Here high above the Weyr one gets a good perspective on the landscape that drew the eye of that rider long ago that sought out the home for a new Weyr. Mountains loom protectively above this pristine little valley, while an energetic river races headlong down the northern side, in a hurry to reach the lake that rests peacefully to the east. Grove after grove of trees dot the land, creating endless shade for the human or dragon.
As well-placed as the natural aspects of the Weyr are, the founders worked hard to keep with the uncontrived rhythms of the valley while destroying as little of it as possible. All of Xanadu opens up below you, welcoming the odd visitor into its friendly arms, or calling a cheerful 'Welcome Home' to the rider and dragon after a visit away.

Between

Darkness and cold like you can't imagine. Nothing to see, feel or hear, except the beating of your heart.

Then, as suddenly as you entered the emptiness…

Yokohama - Cargo Bay
Since the gravity units were restored and now are maintained in working order, the cargo deck of the Yokohama is constantly buzzing with activity. With research needing to be done, equipment to be moved, or a plethora of other tasks taking place people are always coming and going, either from the planet 'below' by dragon back, or meandering in and out from other places aboard the ship.
This area is well lit, the floors themselves have had space set aside specifically for 'betweening'. Three large marked off areas remain clutter-free of people, dragons and equipment. With these 'landing pads' clear, dragons avoid the danger of teleporting into an area of space already occupied and causing a tragedy. Several massive sun lamps have been set up over off to the left, in an effort to make the stay of dragon-kind more comfortable.

Mikal inhales sharply as Seryth rises up. Just before going between he clenches his eyes, holds tight to the straps and murmurs a quiet count.

Once everyone is mounted, Thea double-checks the clips and straps making sure everyone is secure. She's already done the harness flight check before they'd arrived so after clipping herself in, she gives but a short warning of, "Hang on," before Seryth launches. She's big, gains altitude more slowly than the smaller zippier blues and greens, but her kick off is a mighty one, wide wings snapping loudly in the cold air of the claring, echoing off the rock walls. They climb steadily until they can see the panorama of Xanadu Weyr below them, the snow-capped peaks of the mountains beyond and the Sea of Azov fading into the glittering morning air. Then, with just a brief, "Going *Between*", the Weyrwoman's voice carrying a glimmer of mischief in the warning, they enter the blackness only to pop out 3 beats later. In outer space. Well, inside the Yokohama, the ship that brought the Ancients to Xanadu. They're floating weightlessly in the cargo bay. It seems that the grav units are down. There will likely be some surprise, but Thea is unsnapping those who need it and giving gentle pushes. "Just relax and float," she tells them.

Soriana coaxes Haruhi down from her shoulder to a more stable position in front of her. Somehow, it seems like a good idea for the little queen's first dragonflight. Toral's more familiar, and even he hunkers down behind a human windbreak, sending a little flicker of reassurance to the other firelizards. Up into the air they go, and Sori's smile turns to a bit more of an outright grin. It's good to be in the air, on a dragon. The world spreads out before her, not that she can see well past the others, and then the chill of between takes over from that of winter. One, two, three- The arrival is more disconcerting than the journey. She's floating, suddenly; like swimming without water. Like… Toral spreads his wings and launches himself, and the brown firelizard springs up like a loosed arrow, far faster than he meant, and goes into a head over tail spin that ricochets him off the ceiling. Sori's staring up at him, undoing her straps by reflex as she hears the others being loosened, and as she tries to calm the panicky brown, she's… slowly floating up off Seryth's back.

Opening his eyes once they pop out of *between*, Mikal gives a gasp of surprise as he looks around. Certainly this wouldn't have been one of his guesses were he pressed to guess where they were going. "Er…" he slowly undoes the straps and lets go with a squeak of surprise as he floats away. Elsie however seems to enjoy the free fall quite a bit as she goes tail over head with happy chittering sounds emitting from her.

Woooah, gold riding! Kale enjoys it all up until that 'Going Between' warning. Wait, what? Too late to think about it! Therey they are. Cold and silent. Beyond dark. Where'd everyone go? Then, it's over, just like that. He checks Alloy, who is still safe and nestled in his jacket, which seemed to be a good place for him. No need to lose him….again. But after that initial check, he notices that something is wrong. What's tugging at him? A feeling of something wanting to pull him out of his strapped seat. "Uh…" And there goes Toral! He follows the browns too quick flight and subsequent richocheting and…laughs. Well, it's funny! And he wants to do it too! Well, not the bouncing into walls part, but the other part. He starts to loosen himself, keeping Alloy contained for now. "Wooah.." Up, up. He's flying! "Look, I'm a dragon," he says, flapping his arms.

Idrissa isn't fully sure what to expect as to where they are all going, which she doesn't really mind as it seems like a rather interesting adventure to her. Willow peeks out from the collar of her jacket, a soft cooo escaping the little green as she seems to be worried about where they are going, and with the huge gold of all things! Rissa lets her gaze drift down over the ground, grinning as she takes everything in, and rather surprized once more at how small everything looks. Oh hey there's the stables! Yes she would noticed that right off the bat. An then there all going higher, a soft ooo escaping her once there in the clouds, the comment of going 'between' is picked up and she blinks. Lucky she has done that before so has an idea of what to expect, though that doesn't help when th cold hits her and she finds herself holding her breath for a moment. Three heartbeats and then they are there.. But where is /there/? Rissa looks around blinks, her gaze flicking over the area and then Willow is scrambling out and floating? The little green trills out and is flapping about trying to right herself but she keeps doing little spins. Rissa works at getting the straps undone and is quick to go after her green whom she snags hold of rather quickly and then picks up that she is…floating? "Um…" Is about all she can get out and she eyes the floor way down there.

Once she's got her charges where they're supposed to go, the Weyrwoman doesn't seem in any sort of hurry to leave. Besides she has to wait for the AWLMs to finish their task so she doesn't have to leave them unsupervised. Seryth has folded her wings and curled herself small enough so as not to take up too much room as she floats idly, but this place is vast enough to contain several large dragons. Her eyes are whirling green, delighted to watch the reaction of the young ones to this unique place. "Welcome to the Yokohama," Thea calls to the Candidates in general as she pushes gently off from Seryth. "You've all studied about this place captained by Admiral Benden in your history lessons. It's time you actually see it." She doesn't herd them anywhere for the time being though. Because it's not everyday (or ever!) that most people get to play in zero gravity. She's making a slow track across the bay, a stately progress rather than zooming as she watches them.

Toral comes to rest clinging to a bit of equipment, and Sori breathes a sigh of relief as he calms. Haruhi spreads her own wings, and launches into the null-G air with slow, graceful (smug) motions. Sure, it's easy (sorta) when you've already seen how not to do it! Soriana watches with concern for a brief moment, then realizes, oh wait, they're fine, and she's also floating. Also, she doesn't have wings. Fortunately, she's not too far away from Seryth yet. So… it's like swimming, right? Okay then… she brings her legs together, plants booted feet on the dragon's tough hide, and kicks off toward the ceiling. Hopefully actually for that handhold she sees. …maybe. She'll find out. Along the way, she laughs to Kale-the-Dragon. "Firebreathing's next!"

Despite his firelizard's apparent at ease here, Mikal takes a bit longer to become accustomed to the weightlessness he's feeling. Spinning around several times as he overcorrects he finally stops spinning and manages to float in one place. His complexion's a bit green. Certainly the trip is already working for his mind is concentrating on not letting his stomach contents empty out into the room. Slowly he looks around and is in simple awe at what he sees. Surely he's read the stories in his studies but to actually /be here/ is something that is a bit breathtaking and mindblowing all in one. "I'll keep that skill to the dragons. Firebreathing would scorch your throat!" he calls out to Sori, taking the complete opposite of her view.

Kale's arm flapping really isn't getting him very far, and Alloy's getting a bit restless. The other firelizards are out there, and he can tell something is a bit … off with the air. And so, while Kale continues his chickendance, Alloy wiggles out from the jacket, spreads his wings and flies! Or, wait. No, flying is suddenly not as easy as he remembers it being! Wings flap and he barrelrolls. Woah! Kale himself laughs, finding all this to be loads of fun. So much so that he's forgotten that queasy feeling he got going between! As Thea talks, he pauses his flapping long enough to look like he's paying attention. This is the Yokohama? "Wow…" He takes a good look around. This is definitely more interesting than reading about it! He glances up at the rocketing Soriana, then snickers at both her and Mikal. "Lucky I've no firestones, or I'd go for it!" he jokes, exhaling a long and heavy breath that's engulfed with flames in his own imagination. "C'mon Idrissa, look. It's easy!" He rolls and floats on his back arms crossing behind his head. "See? Cake."

"If he starts breathing fire we're all in trouble. Though he is a smither.." Idrissa says with a grin while she shifts and paddles about with one arm while she is still holding onto the little green firelizard that is starting to relax at least. It takes a few moments for Willow to get her barings and soon the green is slipping free from her person and is floating off that way and heading on over towards Toral with a chirrup escaping her. With both arms free Rissa is able to move around a bit easier. Her gaze is quickly taking everything in as the history lessons are coming back that they have been going on. "Woah.." Is said softly before actually grinning. "I never thought I'd get to see anything like this..ever.." Hearing Kale she smirks and shakes her head slightly.

Thea is nothing if not an enthusiast in 'learning by doing'. Hence her infamous taking teenagers to scout for renegades. This though, is less serious and the Weyr far, far below. Perhaps it's their enthusiasm, their uninhibited reactions that serve to loosen Thea up a touch for when she reaches the far side of the bay, she does a slow somersault to foot-push off the wall hard enough to send her sailing (not zooming though!) back across the space, passing Soriana with a light laugh at the firebreathing. "With the oxygen-rich air up here, that might prove disastrous, Kale. We'd explode." Well, that's what the techs have said, anyway. She reaches with light fingertips to Mikal's heel and playfully turns him into a slow spin as she passes him, giggles like a little girl before she can stop herself.

If anyone would know how to breathe fire as a human, it'd be a smith. That said… Thea (not Mikal) has a good point. "No exploding!" Strange how it can be a safer trip with nothing but a thin sheet of metal seperating them from void and death than down on a green planet. Humans are their own worst enemies! But that's enough philosophy. Sori manages to catch the handhold she expected, but the leftover inertia carries her in an arc that thumps her against the wall - ceiling. Whatever, doesn't make a difference without gravity. Whoof, she goes, but she's not actually hurt, because she laughs. Her distraction has definitely been successful. After a moment, she turns herself around, crouching against the ceiling as she dangles there, then… pounce! She launches herself right for Idrissa!

Feeling inclines to point this out, Mikal comments towards Kale. "I think you'd break a tooth or two on the 'stone." he's managed to both hold in his stomach contents /and/ stop spinning. He's really getting the hang of this. Letting himself contently float with one arm out to steady against a wall he smiles broadly as he watches his fellow candidates. "Isn't it sooo awesome up hereeeee…aiee." unexpecting the touch from the Weyrwomen as she passes him he start spinning slowly. His initial reaction of surprise wears off quickly as he leans forward and attempts to propel himself forward towards Thea. A game of tag up here could totally be fun! Technically Mikal /could/ have made a good point if Soriana would simply listen to him!

Idrissa makes a face at the thought of exploding. "I'd rather not try that.. thanks.. No exploding!" She offers with a shake of her head while she is floating along. Sorta like swimming just wihout the water! She catches sight of a windowish looking thing and is stuck pering out it and soft ooos and ahhhs escaping her. Becasue of this she has no idea that someone is coming right for her. "Hey Sori, look at this!" Little does she know how close her dear friend is too her at the moment. She looks back and is about to say something before a half squeal esacpes her as she is pounced or.. floated into, ya something along them lines.

Hah! If only it were easy enough to 'swim' and go faster. Thea's tiny push on Mikal's heel was enough thrust to send him one way and her another, both going only slightly faster than they were, but he'll have to either encounter someone or something to push off of before he can chase her. The Weyrwoman wears a smirky-smile as her course takes her closer to the lift and the series of handles studding the wall there. She latches onto one of them, braking her momentum neatly, but then, she's been here several times before. Steadying herself, she clings to her handhold. In a way it already feels like mission accomplished, though the worry still lurks in her eyes and Xanadu never leaves her mind, her smile is genuine and her demeanor relaxed as she watches the rest of the younger folk play.

Admittedly, Mikal is no longer as much bratty kid as he was. He sometimes even has decent points! Like, say, that one. "Definitely awesome!" Sori agrees. See? She listens to him. It's just, well… in the great race for adulthood and wisdom, he is and will always be behind her. Two turns is huge, y'know. Huge and… looming! Like Soriana would be if Idrissa was just paying attention. Dun dun. Dun dun. Dun- crash. All that inertia has to go somewhere, and the two girls tumble around and around in a spin.

Mikal gives a manly squeak as his attempt to lunge forward isn't as successful as he thought. Finding himself floating away from rather than towards he twists in an attempt to correct this and isn't very successful. Clearly any idea of tag is gone from his mind now as he ends up floating up and bumping his head. Stopping completely seems to be a minor chore for him so he settles on just doing that for now. A wince escapes him a bit as he spies the two girls tangled and tumbling.

Idrissa squeaks!… Yes she totally just squeaked as Soriana tumbled into her and around an around they go! A laugh escapes Rissa while she struggles about trying to right herself and untangle herself at the same time, which is so not working. She floats there now upside down and blinks a few times as she peers up at Soriana. Willow chirrups from her perch upon a rafter, seems the little green is getting over being in this place, fear, what fear? She be a might firelizard!

An object in motion tends to stay in motion. Two objects in motion… are more complicated, but! Soriana laughs and tumbles around with Idrissa, going head over heels and not actually seeming to care which way is 'up'. This turns out to be rather useful, as when she finally disentangles and kicks off and sends the two of them in opposite directions, the landing spot she ends up at is, to the perspective of someone like Mikal who's maintained rough starting orientation, doing a handstand on the floor. No, not a handstand, she's holding on to something. Dangling upwards.

Mikal is just hanging around, so to speak. More at ease with the whole weightlessness. Pushing off ( lightly) he sails slowly towards Soriana. "Didja see the knot? Didja?" he has to gloat a bit since he's not seen her since he got handed the candidates knot. Meanwhile Elsie soars between them distracting him. "Elsie!" he reaches for her.

Idrissa giggles osftly and shakes her head while she stretches and floats along before snagging hold of a hand grip. "Woah.. I never thought we would get to come here.. This is great!" She offers with a grin. Willow chirrups out from her place and then *jumps* off and floats along, her wings flapping a few times which makes the green twirl about a few times.

Haruhi surveys the cargo bay, perched in midair. She stretches her neck to chirp sideways to Toral, who clings like a strange sort of bat to a piece of equipment. Firelizards… in… Space! Sori grins to Mikal. "Yeah, I saw," she says. Being on a Candidate trip… also kinda a giveaway! She lets herself keep dangling as she looks over to Idrissa, and nods. "Yeah, it's really neat. It's weird, though. Like… it doesn't look old. Not like a hold does, with dust and crumbly rocks. Y'know?"

Idrissa grins and nods while she pushes herself off from the wall she is next too. "So.. We're gona be here for three days? That's wild." This said softly. "Do all the candidates from all the weyr's come here?"

Mikal watches his green spin and show off before he hmphs and goes sailing slowly across the room. "Best trip ever." he announces. "I can't wait to explore the rest of the rooms."

"Three days!" agrees Sori. "Unless they've got another surprise lined up…" But, really, what could you possibly do to try and top this? The smile fades for a moment as she adds, "Hope everything's okay while we're gone…" Worry's visit is pretty brief, though, for Elsie's spinning makes her smile again. "I dunno if it's everyone. I guess it might be." She looks dubious, considering on hordes of candidates tromping - floating - through, and while she's still thinking about it, one of the AWLMs calls to summon this horde of candidates to the lift. Oho! She hehs to Mikal. "Think you're gonna get your wish," she says, then pushes off in that direction.

Mikal shakes his head slowly to Sori. "You're not supposed to think about stuff while we're gone. Nothing's going to change in the three days we're gone. Hey…I wonder where we're going to sleep!" he says suddenly, spinning too quickly and bumping into the wall with a thud. "Oomf. Oh!" excitedly he pushes off in that direction and nearly passes by the group of AWLM and has to be grabbed by one to halt his momentum.

Idrissa peers at the two and takes in a slight breath as she nods to Soriana. "Ya I hope so too." Is offered with a soft murmur and she is clambering down from her spot closer to the floor perhaps. "Oh.. well.. Let's go!" Willow is floatflying and once close enough latches onto Rissa's jacket and hangs on. "Well, yer gona sleep in here Mikal. We're let you hang upside down and everything."

Soriana sticks out her tongue at Mikal's retreating back, but… wait for it… he's right. Not that she says it aloud, but she does work on putting the worry out of her mind as she hop-push-drifts her way along to the lift. Fortunately, the prospect of exploring this ship is plenty interesting enough to expand to fill her mind, and as she joins the main group, she's smiling again. Toral lands down on her shoulder, while Haruhi keeps floating. The AWLMs are giving a general sort of lecture - don't touch the machinery, don't get in the way of the starcrafters, don't break anything or else, blah, blah, blah - which Sori pretty much tunes out, instead saying to Idrissa sotto voce, "Aww, but we forgot the rope. No tetherball!"

This could be fun. Sleeping upside down. The youngster is actually pondering how much fun that can be for a minute. Elsie comes sailing over gracefully to land on his shoulder. "Hey, this is the longest she's gone without food." Mikal remarks. "Don't worry, she'll be hungry soon enough." assures one of the AWLM. He listens obdiently to the lectures.

Idrissa grins at Soriana. "I bet we could make a tetherball rope." She murmurs out before looking to the AWLM and listens closely, a slight nod seen now and then as the lecture goes on. "Listen well Mikal." She says with a soft teasing tone to the boy. Willow trills out softly from her spot upon her person's shoulder.

Yokohama - Main Lift
Manufactured from a lightweight composite of Terran materials this lift supports a "microfoamed" cylindrical cab to house personnel as they travel from one part of the Yokohama to another. Three linear induction motors, mounted longitudinally on the cab's exterior, provide the force to move the cab. Electromagnetic conduits lining the shaft power the motors. The lift reaches an approximate maximum speed of ten meters per second under this system. Inertial dampeners mounted on the cab's base counteracts the acceleration effects. The interior display shows the ship's directory to assist in achieving the correct destination.
The lift is lined with brilliant tubes shining brighter than a hundred glows each, at least. The floor is thinly carpeted in a depressing industrial gray, and the walls are painted an unassuming tan. The doors are quite thick, and bear a small silver plate with the title 'Emergency procedures in case of Hull Breach…' but the rest makes little sense.

Mikal sails easily to the lift..until he bops his head at the top of it. "Shardit!" he says quite unhappily.

Did someone say food? Haruhi chirps, and Soriana looks up at her consideringly. Actually hungry? Well, not so much that she's begun to insist. She is a firelizard baby, she totally could eat something. Maybe several somethings. But, she can also wait, so… she will! Because now… the doors open! The lift is go, and they are going into the lift! Soriana learns from Mikal's mistake and does not hit her head! She moves more slowly and less bonkedly, Haruhi drifting in after, then does a slow spin as she looks around. "Ooooh."

Idrissa follows after and blinks at Mikal, she smirks faintly while she is also careful not to smack her head in the process. "Thanks for doing that so we didn't have to Mikal." She grins faintly. "You alright though?" She questions while hanging onto a rung and leans against the wall. Willow peers over at Haruhi and chirrrups out, food?!.. "Don't start Willow.."

Mikal is the shining star and example of the group. Sticking his tongue out at not just Soriana but Idrissa too he stands still on the lift. Elsie chimes in with a hungry creel.

"Faranth," mutters Soriana as the firelizards start all going at it together. Now Haruhi's sure she must be hungry, because it's not like the greens should get food when she doesn't. So she creels herself, and flutters her wings down at Soriana as her eyes fleck with orange. Sori sighs, and peers at the directory. "Okay, okay, we'll get food. That'd be, uh…" Shardit, how come 'food' isn't listed? Basics, people!

Idrissa oys out softly and shakes her head while she eyes WIllow and then peers over at Sori and Mikal. A soft sigh escaping her. "We best find them some food.." Her gaze looks over the diferent floors pondering. "Well.. What about residentail.. or..recreation?.." She isn't sure!
"If we don't they've all revolt at once." Mikal agrees. It's a miracle! Which button?" he crowds the two girls to see the console.

Which is it? Soriana hesitates for another moment, and then… she pushes the button! With confidence and elan, if no idea if it's actually correct. Do eet!

Soriana presses the button for Floor: 9. There is a momentary pause as the lights flash at the entryway.

The doors to the lift come closed and after a momentary pause, waiting for everyone to take hold of the hand rails, the capsule bobs and then rockets to its next destination.

The lift comes to a halt at Floor: 9 and the doors open.

Flashy lights! The sign to hold on, except you kind of have to know it's coming to know that's what they mean. So! Whoosh it goes up, and Haruhi is flung down against Soriana's head with indignant squawks and flailing of her claws- "Owowow," goes Soriana, trying to simultaneously untangle her and not get flung to the ground herself. She lurches like a drunkard, and manages it just as the lift arrives and the doors open. "Ow." That one is more a commentary than anything.

"Owowow." Mikal chants as he works on the whole not getting flung to the ground thing and calm his frantic and still creeling firelizard who has no idea why he's not fed her RIGHT NOW!

Idrissa blinks and peers over the doors as they close and then squeals out at the rocking lift.. She lurches one way herself and Willow flaps about and smacks right into Rissa's head with a *thug*.. Rissa ows and goes about rubbing her head a few times. "Good grief.."

Yokohama - Resident Level 9
Originally four full decks were reserved strictly for residential use, but now three of those have been sealed off, leaving but this remaining floor open for people staying for extended periods of time. This would be likely to include members of the techcraft, healers using the medical facilities for studies, or members of the computer craft. Level nine is a continuous circular corridor contained by restful cream walls and industrial carpeting in a dull gray attempting to achieve a somewhat hospitable atmosphere. This monotony is broken only by a smattering of locking electronic doorways that lead off into individual living quarters.
Beside each door is a small display that can be set to read a variety of things, most importantly if the room is occupied and if whomever happens to dwell there wishes not to be disturbed. A call button can be pressed to alert occupants of a visitor, and an intercom for added security.

Well. They're here. Yay? Soriana tumbles out of the lift to find a set of unremarkable hallways with no labels except for nameplates. "Uhm," she goes, as Haruhi complains, loudly, that it THREW her, and she's probably SCARRED for LIFE (never mind the bit of blood on Sori's forehead from one of those clawings, that's totally not important), oh and also she's STILL HUNGRY. Soriana looks one way, then the other, then back to Idrissa and Mikal. "Do you see a kitchen?" 'Cause… she doesn't!

Idrissa ehs while she follows after Soriana slowly, her head is spinning and Willow latched on rather tightly, against her /neck/ again. "I think we need to cut firelizard claws..soon.." She blinks a few times and looks around curiously. "Ah..no.."

"No…" Mikal's spinning slowly from the lift to peer around curiously as he tries to take in everything at once.

That's what she thought. Also what she was afraid of. Soriana nods to the both of them, and makes her way back into the lift. "Okay. Let's… try again." Haruhi creels demandingly. Seriously, what is wrong with her human? Is providing food on the schedule of her whims so difficult?

Idrissa eh softly while following slowly back onto the life. Her head is stil tumbling about. "I dono.. Do we have to?" Willow creels out to voice Haruhi, the young green shifts about on her paws and even nips out at Rissa's ear. "OW.. Shards, Willow, stop!!"

Creeeeeeel. Elsie is smaller but she's just as hungry or so it would sound. Mikal's all for trying a different level. This time though there's no bonking of the head.

This time, Soriana not only holds on, she holds on to Haruhi. Firmly. Toral's already hunched down against her shoulder, behaving himself. Good firelizard. Okay. "Ready?" Sori asks the other two, as Willow and Elsie declare that, ready or not, it's definitely time to go. Then, once they've had a chance to grab on… Buttontime!

Soriana presses the button for Floor: 13. There is a momentary pause as the lights flash at the entryway.

The doors to the lift come closed and after a momentary pause, waiting for everyone to take hold of the hand rails, the capsule bobs and then rockets to its next destination.

The lift comes to a halt at Floor: 13 and the doors open.

Mikal zooms out. He's being urged on by Elsie.

Yokohama - Recreation Deck
Tables line the walls of this place, each holding a variety of games for the leisure of the personnel and staff that resides within this station. Computers are set up upon the center in rows, offering a variety of games as well to those willing to tap away at the keys or handle the mice and joysticks attached for education and amusement not required for work. Books are also available here, too, both in the form of stories and reference materials for those wishing to take up a hobby or merely escape to somewhere else for a time while it's allowed between their long days and colder nights of duties here in the Yokohama. No matter where one would like to go, plenty of cushioned seating is here for rest and conversation.
Meanwhile, dominating the room is a large window that overlooks Pern, showing much of the planet as the station orbits overhead.

Not here either?! Without waiting to look around, Mikal darts up to the lift and zooms without the girls!

Mikal gets to the lift first, which means Sori and Idrissa have to wait around for it, their firelizards complaining the whole time. This gets the attention of a starcrafter sitting at one of the computers, who comes over - not to lecture - but to give them directions to the nearest kitchen. Wonder of wonders! Food of feeding firelizards! The poor starving creatures get to stuff their faces, and everyone - candidates and shipfolk both - get to breathe a sigh of relief at the wondrous quiet that follows.

That goodnes for the firelizard's getting fed! If not they may be kicked out! Idrissa ehs softly before shaking her head. "Well that was fun.." She murmurs out to Sori as they find there way back to the recreation deck. Rissa settles down upon a comfy chair and leans back, her head still hurting, and the cuts on her neck are stinging somewhat.

Now that she's been fed, Haruhi radiates serene comfort. She chirps to Toral sweetly. He doesn't answer, maybe because his belly's also nicely full. So she chirps again, and then time he makes a little grumble in reply. Apparently that's enough to satisfy her, for now, because she lowers her head to a resting position as she watches the goings-on. Sori laughs as Idrissa flops down, but she goes to poke around at one of the computers instead. It's not set up quite the same as the ones around the Weyr she's used, but it's very happy to provide its list of programs 'For your education and entertainment!'

Idrissa ponders while peering over to Soriana, she stands up and wanders over to snag a chair next to her friend and peers at the computer screen. A soft oh escaping her while she taptaps a few times. "Wonder.. What all they have on 'em."

"Bunch'f stuff, looks like," says Soriana as she scrolls down a list, then abruptly stands up again. "C'mon, though, there are computers down at the Weyr. We're up here, in space! On a starship!" She spreads her arms wide, provoking a sleepy chirp of complaint from Haruhi. "We should explore or something."

Idrissa chuckles and hums before nodding as she lifts a hand to ruffle across Willow's head and neck now that the green is quiet and happy. "Well.. Let's go wandering around see what we can see." She ohs. "Hey! Do you think we can see the bridge..?" Well it's a thought!

Soriana grins. That's more like it! "Well, the lift says it goes there," she says. "We can find out!" She bounces her way back to the lift. Haruhi gives the lights a dubious look - the go fast crashy place - but now that she's no longer hungry, she can be persuaded to give it another chance. Sori waits for Idrissa, and then… there's the button. Bridge of operations. All the way up. Go!

Soriana presses the button for Floor: 17. There is a momentary pause as the lights flash at the entryway.

The doors to the lift come closed and after a momentary pause, waiting for everyone to take hold of the hand rails, the capsule bobs and then rockets to its next destination.

The lift comes to a halt at Floor: 17 and the doors open.

Idrissa grins and follows after Soriana! Once there on the lift it is zooooming off and she oys softly once there. "We.. can't do that to many more times." Her stomach almost feels like it is in her throat this time. Willow eyes the lift wideeyed for a few moments before shaking her head, wings fluttering.

Yokohama - Bridge of Operations
From the lift, the main viewscreen dominates the wall seen directly across the way from it. Set above is an enormous observation window, which affords an amazing view of space and the planet below. There are many control consoles and chairs on the deck set before them, as well as a large open area just in front of the viewscreen. Centrally located in this expansive area is the Commanding Officer's chair. Three sets of steps ascend to the platform, which is set several meters above the deck. Other important stations line the upper platform, which extends both the port and starboard, each side ending a few meters short of the viewscreen.

"Aww, it's not so terrible," says Soriana. "No worse than a diving dragon." Which really isn't saying much, other than that Sori is crazy. Haruhi's decided to pretend she was fine with this all along, apparently; she takes the ride serenely. This trip is a bit longer than the rest, but the lift is speedy, and so soon enough the doors open to reveal… the bridge! Soriana steps out, her mouth open in an 'oh' as she takes in the sight of Pern from space, the outlines of continents taken off the maps, blurred by clouds and weather patterns, and set against the backdrop of the stars. "Wow."

Idrissa chuckls and shrugs slightly. "Well.. ya but I don't often ride dragons that go diving down and swoopdos an all." She grins and then peers around. "Woah.." This said with a soft tone as she makes her way on over to a window and looks out over the stars and clouds. "This is great.. Look at all the stars!" Willow tilts her head and chirps before half nosing and pecking against the window a few times.

Soriana steps closer, still looking over the world as displayed on the viewscreen. "So… there's Nerat, with the hook," she says, pointing. Geography has, after all, been a major part of lessons lately! This is the practical version. Well, sorta practical. Kinda. Maybe. "Which means… that must be the Sea of Azov…"

Idrissa looks about at the items in question that Soriana is pointing too, a soft oh escaping her and she nods. She looks to one thing then another. "To bad we can't get a picture of this to take back with us."

"Wouldn't be the same, anyhow," says Soriana, though she doesn't take her gaze away from that screen. She takes a few steps closer, and considers. "I guess Xanadu'd be right about… there." She points, and stares hard as if she can somehow see through the distance and the clouds to know if she's right. Turns out, she can't, and after a few moments she laughs and spreads her hands in a version of a shrug that doesn't disturb the firelizards.

Idrissa waves a hand slightly while she looks to where the other points. "Would still be nice to show off the memory. Be all LOOK.. I suppose I understand how that it woudn't be the same." She pauses to look where Xanadu should be and smiles faintly. It is sorta nice to get away for a few days! Willow slowly lifts her head this way and that with a soft chirrups softly. "You liking the trip Willow?" This questioned softly and the green trills out.

Soriana steps to one of the stations. An AWLM reminds her not to touch anything, and she nods, just looking down at the controls and all the little lights. "A picture's not a real thing," she says softly, considering. "It's not… a memory, either. It's just a picture. It's…" She trails off, and shakes her head. "Anyway. I'm glad we got to come here." A smile, and she drifts to look at another of the stations.

Idrissa follows after Soriana and glances to the AWLM and nods with a smile. She looks back to the screens and the like. "Well.. Ya that's true." A glance is sent to Sriana and she smiles while leaning over to give her friend a hug. "I'm glad we got to come along as well."

Soriana puts her arm around Idrissa and hugs back, smiling. After a moment, she looks out over the bridge again. "I guess this is supposed to be teaching us important lessons, huh? About history or something, our ancestors, the world…" She hehs. "Hope there isn't gonna be a test."

Idrissa nods while pondering this. "Though.. Ya no test I'd be happy without tests.." She offers with a soft tone at the idea and shakes her head. "I can learn plenty without a test!" An she is rather sure this is gona help.

Are you listening, AWLMs? No tests! So it has been declared. …yeah, they probably (definitely) won't listen, but it was worth a try. Soriana grins, and her attention is once more drawn to Pern below. Funny how it seems to attract the eye, slowly turning against the stars. It's just so… big. What with being a whole world. She stares a moment, then drags her gaze away with a little shake of her head. "Datsun'd probably love seeing that."

Idrissa isn't even looking at the AWLMs on this matter! Just don't think about it all, right?! Cause that /always/ works! She clears her throat and lets her elbows rest on the edge of a window as she peers out at the stars. "Ya… I bet he would really enjoy it too.."

It works as well as anything else, which is to say, it doesn't really but that doesn't stop the trying. Sori mms, nodding, then shrugs. "Well, he's not, so he'll probably pretend he doesn't care if you try to tell him." She grins, and looks around again, then pauses. "Hey, where'd Kale end up, anyhow? He was part of the first group in the lift, right?"

Idrissa chuckles and ndos. "Ya really.. Maybe.. we could see about him coming up at some point for a quick look." Well it's an idea! She ponders that. "Heck if I know.. Mikal most likely tied him down someplace to talk about boy stuffs with."

Soriana hehs to Idrissa. "Might be… I hope Mikal found something for Elsie, though, otherwise… she was gonna start eating his ear soon." Another look to Pern above in the viewscreen, a glance to the control panel in front of her, and then Sori turns back toward the lift again to go… she doesn't know where, but if she stays here, she's going to spend all three days staring!

Idrissa chuckles and nods with an amused tone escaping her. "Hey.. Want to go by the recreational place gain and play a game? Mabe Kale is there dodging Mikal." She smirks and waves a hand while she moves towards the lift. "I bet he found her something or we would still be hearing it."

This is so amazingly, freakishly, awesomely, ridiculously /cool!/ Kale, in space! Who would believe it? What would anyone at home /ever/ think if he told them that he left their world for the vast emptiness of the stars! Would they even believe him? Kale doesn't know nor does he care, too busy looking at things, asking questions, ignoring annoyed looks from second or third (or maybe even fourth!) time Candidates who don't find going Between and ending up OFF THE PLANET as anything too extraordinary! He has to explore some more! And thus, as his gruop split off into smaller pods, he finds himself going to one of the (if the the) topmost floors, and when the lift opens, he and three other nondescript candidates exit and disperse. "Aaah…no way." Look at that view! It's outer space!

A game? Shoosh, Idrissa, the AWLMs will hear you and think there's not enough education happening! They might have brought worksheets for just this contingency. Sori's eyes dart there quickly, but fortunately, there's no mimeographed papers being waved in their direction… yet. "C'mon then," she says, and starts for the lift. Quickly now! Before they notice! It's off to games and… "Kale!" Full stop, all stations. Open hailing frequencies!

Idrissa blinks at Soriana and smirks. "Really?.." Is offered back at the look she is given and she grumbles a moment. Though she is peering over at the AWLM that is there fearing a worksheet to be shoved into her hands and a ink pen for that much. She takes in a soft breath and is about to steps on the lift and thus nearly runs right into Kale for her trumble. Willow trills out and Rissa peers at Kale, basicly inches from him. "Hey!"

Who what? Blink! Kale's eyes are peeled away from the view, which he was taking steps closer towards to get an even /better/ look at, and swivels around to see. Oh! Friends! "Hey Sori, Idrissa. Where've you been?" he says with a wide grin, approaching the two of them, stopping when close. And Alloy, let's not forget him! He's just riding along on his shoulder, where he's been this whole time after playing around with zero gravity flight, and it doesn't look as if he has any intention of letting go, nope! Staying put! Kale grins brightly at the two of them, reaching to rub beneath Willow's chin in greeting and playfully flick the very near Idrissa's shoulder. "You guys, this is /awesome/. Have y'been to the gravity control room yet? An' look at all those stars! Look at Pern!" If he could press his face against the above window, he totally would.

Ahhh, it's like seeing it through new eyes! Not that her own are more than barely experienced with this sight. Soriana grins as she watches Kale… okay, and the viewscreen. She's also watching that, because… the stars! Pern! "Isn't it just?" she agrees, nodding. "Gravity control room? We haven't!" Apparently they got the boring parts of the tour. Don't blame her, blame it all on, "The firelizards got hungry instead."

Idrissa ponders that. "Gravity control room?.." She peers at Willow whom chirrrups and leans into the rubbing attention. Rissa chuckle and pokes out at Kale's side. "Ya.. A certain gold firelizard started thinking about food and the rest of the lot when into 'FEED ME' mode." It was not fun, and she has new scratches across her neck thanks to a certain green. She grins and shakes her had while following after. "An't it great? Look how close them stars look now." She points out towards some stars over thar.

Kale can't help himself. He has to get a closer look! So he heads closer to that viewing window, both hands moving out to grasp and tug at both girls' sleeves in indication to 'come on with me and marvel even though you've obviously already been up here for a time and have seen it!' before letting go. "Haruhi?" he assumes, smirking before pausing when as near as he can possibly get. "Gah, look how /high/ we are. An' it doesn't even feel like we're… up anywhere, y'know? Not like when we were on Seryth an' it felt like we were above everything. Now, we really … /are/ above everything." Somewhere down there is his family! Tiiiiiny itty bitty specks. He shakes his head in amazement. "Wait til you get to gravity control. S'a lot of listening to talk an' stuff," he says, lowering his voice a bit. "Not the most excitin'. But after /that/ part's over, they mess with the gravity an' you start feelin' all sorts of ways! Flyin' up, and then next thing y'know, you feel like you weigh like a thousand iron bars."

"Nuh-uh," goes Soriana to Idrissa. "Mikal was the one who mentioned it, Haruhi was fine up until then." Sothere! The little gold in question looks perfectly serene, or maybe just half-asleep. What, her? She's perfect. Sori grins, perfectly happy to be dragged along for the view. "Look there," she says, pointing. "There's the Sea of Azov, and so Xanadu's about there… and I guess Black Rock's right about… there?" She's rather less certain about that one. It's not like she's ever been there! Anyway, that gravity stuff sounds neat, and she nods. "Huh. I'll hafta go there! But… later, I'm not gonna make you listen to the lecture again."

Idrissa rolls her eyes and soon erks as she is pulled over to the window again. "Well she got the rest of them going cause WIllow was fine until she went about creeling for a meal." She says this with a grin. Her gaze flicks over the area again down on pern and she hums sotly before chuckling. "Isn't strange to see if from up here? I mean we learn about it and then *bam* here we are!"

The Sea of.. "Oh, that /is/ it, isn't it?" remarks Kale, grin widening as he follows her point. From their amazing vantage point the seas and clouds and land masses look like artwork, at least through his eyes. And the fact that the mapmakers have everything so .. precisely right is impressive! It looks just like the maps in textbooks, though far, /far/ less boring. As her hand shifts, he pauses, gathering bearings, before shaking his head. "Yes but, a little further east," he says as he lifts his hand to grasp her wrist lightly, shifting her arm to the right a little. "There. Can't you see the detail of the fields? An' that angry little dot right there? Can't you hear her? 'Kale! Get your arse back down to Pern right this minute!!'" He pitches his voice high, sounding more like a chiding mouse than an angry mother. He grins, hand sliding away as his eyes drift to Idrissa. "Lucky Alloy wasn' around to hear then, but he's been fed. And now, Idrissa, you can tell everyone you've been higher than what a dragon flies!"

Now, that part, Sori can't really argue with, so she just sort of waves a vague hand of acknowledgement instead. To Kale, she nods. "Yep, 'cause there's Nerat above it," she says, then lets him direct her arm over to point to Black Rock. She leans forward, and… "Oh, yeah, I can totally hear her. She says it's downright shameful, your feet so far from good honest soil!"

Idrissa nods and smiles while her elbows rest on the edge of the window once more while she peers down there at the ground, the world turning and so forth and that sorta thing. She blinks and chuckles. "Ya really!" At the part on his mother she pauses and peers over at him. "Ya.. I don't think that is a problem Kale." A soft laugh escaping her at the thought.

Kale laughs at Soriana's quip and nods in agreement. "Yeah, that's her. If she /ever/ had a reason to mount a dragon, it'd be to drag me down from here. If only she knew." It might just give her a heart attack! He snickers at Idrissa now and leans over to nudge his shoulder with hers, causing Alloy to shuffle a bit, but nope, he is not dismounting. He is staying. Right. Here! "Wonder how it'd look if we took a piss out there," he wonders aloud, grinning at the thought. "/We/ were floatin' around when we got here. Imagine..floatin' piss." Uecause every girl wishes to imagine what their urine would look like in zero gravity, right? Hey… it popped up in his mindQ Why wouldn't it pop up in theirs??

Idrissa shakes her head slightly. "I think that would be the only time my mother would get close to a dragon too.. I can just imagen her yelling at me so badly at this moment in time.." There is a pause at that, her mind wandeirng and she sighs. Willow trills out softly as she shifts on her person's shoulder, head tilting to the side and the little green nips at her person's cheek. "Ow.. Willow.." An then Kale comes up with that /lovely/ statement of floating piss.. You heard it right fokes, floating piss. Rissa just looks at Kale watching him a few moments. "Your such a boy.."

Jessi steps out of the lift as it opens, a soft smile on her face as she looks around. It's been awhile since the greenling was seen out in public, but it appears she's back and ready to go. "Cool place, huh?" She asks as she approaches the group of candidates.

Such a boy? Kale smirks at that, finally tearing his eyes away from space and stars and Pern to look over at Idrissa. "Yeah, an' aren't /you/ glad?" he says with a smirk, leeeeaning towards her. "If I was such a girl, I don' think you'd fancy me as much. Ha, I don't think /I'd/ fancy me as much. Plus," he adds lavishly, "y'can't tell me you hadn't thought of it. I wonder if anyone does. Jus' stick their…" Wait, pause! There's a new voice around, and it's speaking to them! Catching his words, he glances behind him, spotting the familiar face of Jessi. "Good d-…ev-…" Pause and blink. "Wow. Can't even tell if it's evenin' or day or what up here, can ya?" Another thing to marvel over!

Soriana laughs to Kale. "Yeah, there was part of your party when…" she shakes her head, and shudders! Suffice it to say she has reasons for her accurate rendition of Kale's mother. And then there's Rissa's… yeah, Sori totally won when it comes to parents. Most definitely. Kale's idea of liquids in space makes her smirk. "Well, you could go back down to the gravity room and ask…" she says, then the grin only widens as he retorts to Idrissa. Ahhh, rhetoric. Oh, and what's this? She looks over to see Jessi, and waves. "Heya!"

Idrissa peers over at Kale watching him a few moments, blushing and soon clears her throat. "Brat.." She grumbles out softly while she lifts a hand to scratch at her neck nervous like a few moments. "I didn't think about it!.. I don't go around thinking about what is gona be floating anywhere!" For the parent awards Soriana totally won out! Rissa's mother would drag her away from the Weyr if she could. Even more so if she fould out her daughter was in /space/. She slowly peers over at Soriana and eyes her friend at her idea. "Really?.. No.. NonoNO… an NO.." She doesn't want to see anything yellow floating ANYWHERE near her thanks! "How are you Jessi?" Time to change the subject!

Jessi smiles, at least it's just Jess and not some, like, mature adult person, right? "Hey guys." Arching a brow at the talk of floating urine. "Ew, tha's gross. Floating, well, when we were here someone lost their lunch in the cargo bay, it was rather nasty." Wonderful thought, isn't it? "So what all've you guys been doing?" She's just gonna butt her way in, isn't that sweet of her. "Did anyone get sick when you arrived?"

The gravity room! Now why didn't he think of that? One can almost see the lightbulb of inspiration flashing on in Kale's mind at that, and he just grins at Sori. Ooooh yeah. Totally gonna ask…to try. And yes you will be in attendance! Such a once in a lifetime experience must be shared. "Not gross," he says to Jessi. "Could be..an experiment. Could vary the amount've gravity an' see … uh, like.. which liquids float how high. Could use water…an' maybe milk…klah…an' pee." Yes. Definitely a good thing Jessi is not some mature stuffy adult person! He grins after. "I was down in the gravity control room for a while. Was fun, after all the lecturin' was done. I don'…/think/ anyone got sick," he says, glancing to the other girls for confirmation. "Mikal looked sort've green though."

Closest mature adult is… the AWLM halfway across the bridge, and he'd definitely out of earshot because he hasn't given them any weird looks for Kale's chosen topic of conversation. Sori gives a glance to Idrissa, and another one to Jessi, before back to Kale. Really? "They'd probably make you write a report on it," she notes. Once he's on to /other/ topics, like the gravity room's approved uses, she nods. Whoops, back to bodily emissions, this time of the puke sort! "Yeah, Mikal looked like he might. Didn't, though." And he's not here to defend his name, either!

Idrissa sighs as she hears kale, her hand lifts to cover her eyes. "Kale.." This said with a soft tone at the thought. "Please don't do this.. Cause I'll have to hurt you if I'm on here and you test this out anywhere /near/ me.." A glance is offered over to Jessi. "Naw, none of us did anyway. An ya just Mikal looking sorta green." She pauses. "An the lift knocking him around. I think the firelizard he has is keeping him busy now though so maybe he isn't looking green anymore." An why can't tehy talk about this and not floating pee?

Poor Mikal, not here to even say he was faking it or anything. Jessi shakes her head at Kale's topic of choice, "I think me, Rissa, and Sori will be, umm, busy learning other things while you have your experiment, Kale." Yes, well, it was worth a shot, right? She grins, leaning closer to the trio. "I know how to turn the gravity off in here, might get a few moments of zero g until they kick me off the bridge. Of course, bet I wouldn't get in as much trouble as Denil did when he accidentally shut off the life support when we were up here."

A report huh? Kale lifts his hand to stroke his chin, thoughtful style. "A report…may be woth the experience," he finally says, nodding solemnly. "I mean, come on! Space pee!" Erp…time to check the volume of his voice! "I mean.. /space pee/" he says in a harsh whisper. "When will I ever get the chance in no gravity? There's gravity everywhere on Pern!" Damn you, Pern and your gravity! Denying them the joy of seeing (and dodging) yellow floating particles. But not even Jessi is game for his plan! Ah, these girls are no fun. … Well, they are, but deinitely no fun when it comes to gross experiments. Mikal definitely would've been on board! "You wouldn't dare hurt me," he retorts to Idrissa. "Plus, I'd be careful not to get any on you." Becaue he has so much control of floating space particles, you see! Jessi's more hushed tone gains his attention and puts a halt on talk of urinating for now, and his brows lift with obvious interest. More floating! And…er wait. "Life support?" Pause. "Did they kill'm after? cuz I think I might've…"

"He's lookin' after green, instead!" says Soriana on the further matter of Mikal. See? She can talk about that perfectly well. Or at least make bad jokes about it, that's like talking about it. Close enough. She's basically pretending she doesn't hear Kale's discussion at this point, but she leans in closer to hear what Jessi has to say, and huhs about the gravity - then widens eyes about Denil and the life support! "Ouch. I bet that's why he's keeping such a close eye on the panels," she says, pointing to one of the AWLMs. "Anytime anyone gets near, he's been all 'no touchie' at them."

Idrissa blinks and looks to Jessi curiously. "Really?" She questions while pondering and makes a faint face. "Just… don't touchie the life support one." Cause sudden death is bad! She eyes Kale a few moments and lifts a finger. "Remember Chief?" This questioned with a soft amused tone. Rissa doesn't have to touch him, she has her ways! At the joke from Soriana a soft chuckle escapes her and she nods slightly.

Jessi giggles quietly. "Well, if life support goes down, supposedly there's a limited amount of time before, you know.." She brings a finger across her neck and makes a sort of strange sound effect that's likely supposed to be, erm, someone croaking? "They weren't happy with him, but I don't think they made him leave or anything. I'm not sure, I got a little distracted after that cause Fl'ynny showed up." She giggles. "Shh, don't tell anyone." Not that it's really a secret that the greenling has a little crush on the bluerider. See, even adults get all giggly when they talk about someone they like. And, well, the greenrider is nonchalantly heading towards one of the chairs with a console in it, settling in to 'watch the viewscreen'. Innocent greenie, see? Yeah, wait, why is the AWLM looking at her? She flashes what she hopes is a charming smile at the AWLM.

Kale blink … blinks at Soriana. "An' I thought the /clock/ joke was bad," he says, fighting a losing battle with a grin. And..er, yeah. Chief. Hrmph. Kale just gives Idrissa a look. A glared sort of look. Squinty eyed, tensed lip, glare! Fiiiine. No more peetalk. But that's alright, because he really wants to hear about this near death situation! It's…almost comforting to know that there's a few moments' delay before death and destruction. "Fl'ynny?" Blink. He watches her watch off to distract that oh so watchful assistant over there. Go Jessi, go! "Is that really someone's name?" he asks, glancing between Idrissa and Soriana curiously.

Soriana smirks to Kale. "Well, then, I guess we're even for that one," she tells him, then nods to Jessi and watches as the greenie goes off… okay, so maybe it's a little suspicious to the AWLM that there are candidates watching with interest the actions of this oh-so-innocent rider who just happens to be up here. Hmmmm. He nods to Jessi, and takes a step back, but he's still keeping an eye on her… for now. Wait until something else happens to distract him - with all the candidates around, it probably won't be long. Even if Sori's not providing one, just telling Kale, "Fl'ynn, actually. He's a bluerider." A shrug. For all the fellow seems to charm half the available ladyfolk… Sori's in the other half!

Idrissa peers after Jessi, pondering it seems. "Ya it is a real name. His nice, I like his dragon. Very cute blue." This said with a soft murmur as she smiles. Though she wonders if Jessi is going to be able to do what she is planning. Willow chirrups out softly as she cuddles against her person's shoulder, tail curling upon her neck. "Ah.. Oh dear.." She isn't sure what to expect now!

Jessi could flirt with the AWLm to distract him, if she actually was capeable of doing such a thing. But, well, she's never been good with that, aside from when Aisu was glowing. She starts to chat the rider up, talking about dragons and the eggs at Xanadu. She's trying to get him to let his guard down so she can have a little fun with the grav. She even tries flipping her hair flirtatiously.. and fails. Likely that just makes the AWLM more suspicious.

"Ooh, Fl'ynn. Sounds better. If my parents named me somethin' like Fl'ynny, I'd shut off the life support on myself," Kale snickers, eyes drifting back to Jessi. Oh, she's doing a grand job! If he were turns older, he'd totally be taken. He glances off to a computer screen inconspicuosly as he leans over to Soriana, chin just hovering just over her shoulder. "Is she havin' a seizure?" Erractic neck movements must be a sign! Oh wait…that was a hair flip. Totally knew that. He pokes a finger to her side. "I want floatin an' she needs help. Go help."

Innocent conversation might have worked. The AWLM might have relaxed, started to take it easy. Unfortunately, Jessi's attempts at flirting come down on the side of 'trying too hard', and the role of AWLM does sort of select for suspicion as a character trait. That step away is reversed with a step toward, and he coughs. Here it comes - a polite question of if there's anything she was looking for. Soriana watches the attempt, then… is poked. "Ow," she says in an unconcerned sort of tone, and looks to Kale. Help? Bah! "Why don't you help her yourself? Go and… uh… shoot a spitball at him."

Idrissa shakes her head slightly as she hears Kale and blinks while peering over at Jessi watching her a few moments. "No.. I don't think it's a seizure.. She isn't drooling.." She murmurs back to her friends in a knowing tone for some reason. "What would you suggest Kale, we start dancing or something?" Willow chirrups.. and her wings slowly unfold and then she shifts to her paws and is eyeing something over thar.. Is that a plate with a few meatrolls left on it? An it happens to be at the other side of Jessi an the AWLM on a table. The little green trills and then hops off her persons shoulder and flutters on over to the table 'attacking' the meatroll with a squeal! Rissa blinks and her eyes widen. "Hey!".. Oh dear..

Jessi watches the AWLm as he starts to question her, and she just stretches a bit. All innocentlike! She at least had a chance to look over the console and locate the button she had been looking for. "Aaaah, nothing, I'm just enjoying the view." She murmurs to the AWLM, then..*streeeeetch* Her arm just so happens to stretch out over the console and, well, her finger just so happens to land on the button that dectivates the grav system. Hey, they might not have zero-g for long, but it was a thought, right?

"Spitballs? That's the best y'can come up with?" says Kale with a full brow arch towards Soriana. "/First've/ all, I don't have the proper materials. Where's the paper? Where's a proper projectile launch cylinder? Secondly…" Eh, he never gets to "secondly", as now he glances to Idrissa and snaps his fingers. "Yes. You two dance. That's a grand idea. Two dancin' candidates with no music at all? He'll think you're ill in the head an' will come over here, an' /that/ will give Jessi her chance!" Genius. "Nice goin', Idrissa. Now…" he makes a little gesture with his hand. Get to dancing! Willow's sudden take of is glanced at, and he starts to look over to where hsh'es headed, and at that precise moment.. his feet lift of the ground. "An' we have liftoff!" He wiggles his feet like a swimmer.

"Not my fault you're not prepared," retorts Soriana to Kale, then just shakes her head at the prospect of dancing, still watching Jessi's attempts. The AWLM may be suspicious, but evidently, he's not suspicious enough. He's just taking another step when… poik. The button is pushed, and that step turns into a mighty stride indeed, launching him up into the air. He makes an utterly undignified squeak, and he's halfway to the ceiling before he manages anything more than it. "Everyone, remain calm!" he bellows. Yeah, because being calm is totally what the candidates are going to do. Soriana, for her part, is laughing and giving Kale a shove up, one that pushes him into the air and herself back toward the ground. Definitely calm.

Jessi is a greenling who doesn't let folks down? Or at least not her friends when she promises something fun. She had gripped onto the arm of the chair she was settled in, but once she succeeds in cancelling gravity and sending the AWLM floating away, she giggles, letting loose of the arm so she can float upwards as well. And, well, she seems just as delighted as the candidates as she 'swims' through the air(And away from the likely unhappy AWLM) and towards her friends. "I'm gonna be so grounded when Thea finds out." She giggles gleefully.

Idrissa rolls her eyes slightly as she hears Kale. "You start dancing first an I'll follow." She offers with a soft grumble. She is eyeing WIllow whom is snacking on the meatroll up until the button is hit and then the little green is floating away.. Leeelaaaaatrilllll.. Willow blinks a few times while she twists around a few times. Idrissa ums softly and then she is floating as well. Her arms reaches out and snag onto Kale for a few moments as they float upwards into the air. Calm? She is totally calm! Can't you tell? "It's just likebeing back in the cargo hold." A soft giggle escapes her and as thus she lets go of Kale and grins at Jessi.

Kale is rocketed up thanks to Soriana, and he juts his arms out like a superhero taking off into the sky! Talk about childish, but hey…zero gravity!! 'Nuff said. Alloy, much like Willow, is left to floooat. Oy, not this again! Kale slows now far from the ceiling, feeling someone grasp upon his clothing. Idrissa. "Yeah, an' this is /never/ gonna get old," he declares before she lets go. He pushes a foot out, pushing against the sole o her shoe to propel her a bit before he glides on his back, then does a mid-air somersault. He tumbles over and over and over, rolling right past Jessi in the process. "Niice," he compliments her, giving her a thumbs up as his rolling slows down. He glances up, which is really glancing down as his rolling stopped with him in an upside down position, at Sori. "C'mon up. The air is fine!"

"Find out what?" asks Soriana with an innocent face. "It's just a malfunction, right?" She grins wide, as she goes down to the floor and sinks into a crouch - then jumps up! Hah, she'll get - yeep. What's that coming toward them? The AWLM has found himself a way to turn around, and he's drifting across the room like a looming stormcloud of displeasure. Fortunately for Jessi, he's actually aimed directly into the path of Kale. Unfortunately for Kale, there's an AWLM coming directly for him.

Idrissa shakes her head slightly while she lets go of Kale and watches him float up, up an away! "Right.. Sure.." She chuckles while giving hersef a slight push and is thus floating along somewhar near Kale with a soft giggle escaping her. Though she pauses and blinks peering at the AWLM that is floating rather quickly towards them and a soft uhoh escapes her.. Oh dear.. This doesn't look good! Willow chirrups from her spot, hanging onto some box and watching all the people from her upside down state.

"Yeah, a majorly awesome malfunction," says Kale, too busy being gleefully upsidedown to notice that he has the attention of someone he probably /doesn't/ want attention from! He flaps his arms a bit to right himself, reaching to try to push at the nearby Idrissa, aiming to spin her. "S'crazy. The blood doesn't even go rushin' to your head when you're upsi-.." Uh oh. Is that an assistant weyrling master heading towards…him? Flee! his mind tells him. Run away! But really, where's he gonna go? And running totally makes you look guilty! And so he plasters on a smile and a hugely innocent look. Yes officer? "..Can I help in some way, sir?" Helping has been on his mind the whole time! Not floating around and playing. Nope. Not him.

Jessi has taken the opportunity to escape into the lift as the AWLM is headed for Kale. She's gone, ayup, fled the scene of the crime so to speak.

Scowl, goes the AWLM, though really he's not looking for Kale. He's looking for… now where did she go? Running is most certainly a sign of guilt, and that petite rider is most certainly gone. Well, he'll deal with that later. For now, there are far too many candidates bouncing around in the air, Soriana flanked by her two firelizards included. "Return to the ground, Candidate," he says as he tries to also do that spinny thing - y'know, the one Kale's doing with Idrissa. Wheels within wheels! "The gravity will be back… shortly." It's on that last word that there's a tug from below. The bridge isn't the only place with overrides, as it turns out - and there's a rider down in the gravity control room who got a dragon-relayed message. Up comes the gravity slowly, a tiny bit, a little more, even more, quite a lot actually, thwump. How about that ground, huh?

Idrissa ahs softly and swallows as she is spun round and round a few times. "Um.. yes sir.." Is said with a quiet whispering like tone, sorta like a mouse squeak! She is inches down a bit during the times she is sent wheeling about. Willow on the other hands flutterfloats on over to Toral and Sori and trills to them in her floaty path. An then there it is, the lovely gravity is back, slowly at first and then full on! To bad Rissa wasn't closer to the ground an as soon as it comes on she erps, eyes wide and goes *thudthump* to the ground upon her elbow and shoulder, at least it wasn't her head. "Ow…"

Aw man. Back down to the ground? Well, it could've been worse, and Kale takes his own sweet time in going southward, feigning having trouble doing so. Unfortunately, the return of gravity speeds up the process more than he'd like …and a bit faster than he'd like, at that! Now he scrambles to get down before the inevitable, and luckily for him, it's only about a three foot fall. But still…ow! Right on the rear. He stands, giving his rump a quick rub. Alloy is back on his shoulder quickly, not liking this no gravity business one bit! Kale moves to Idrissa, offering a hand to her while looking for Sori to offer the same if needed. "C'mon. Let's find out the mos' important thing about this place: Where the food is. I'm starvin'." And with gravity back in place and space thoroughly marveled at, there's obviously nothing left to do here!

Soriana bounded up, now she ricochets down at a pace that… increases rather remarkably near the floor. It gives new meaning to 'hit the ground running', it really does. But, she doesn't crash into anything, and nothing's broken - and while there are some yelps around the room, nobody else seems badly hurt either. The AWLM, having made his own way down, stalks to stand beside the control panel with an extremely disgruntled expression. Pity the next person who tries to do anything. "Yeahhh, let's get out of here," Sori agrees, and off she drags the other two!

Idrissa grumbles softly and eyes Kale before she reaches up to take hold of his hand and slowly gets up. "Ya.. Food sound good actually. An cider.." Willow flutters down to settle upon her persons's shoulder and curls up there.. "Alright.. let's go before something else happens and we get glared at.." Kitchen here they come, watch out world.. or.. space!
