Tiny Terror of Xanadu

Xanadu Weyr - Caverns
A massive cavern in its own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as have walls hung with numerous tapestries that provide brilliant color and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt. The stone is carefully leveled but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.
The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area is the one near the Kitchens, where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. It's plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr, instead feeding people in shifts as they come off duty. On occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are borrowed from all the other areas.
There's also a big fireplace set into the western wall, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good view of all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colors of undyed wool.
Exits lead off in all directions, the largest an archway to the northeast that leads outside. Near it there's an alcove with hooks for coats and shelves for muddy boots. A tunnel to the east goes to the infirmary, and a set of stairs just a little south of that lead up to the offices and administration area. To the south, a long and sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs. The kitchen is off to the southwest, while the residents' quarters are reached by tunnels going west, deeper into the cliff.

Kera is plonked in the middle of the poofiest chair in the cavern. Right near the hearth that is not actually burning right now. Sitting sideways with her legs over the armrest, her eet are loosely crossed. Kera seems to be chewing when she suddenly stops chewing and 'pffhg' can be heard as she spits out a pit. It goes sailing right over the 'X' where her ankles cross, and hits the stone side of the hearth before dropping to the floor. Leave it!" she wars the poufy fur ball everyone knows a Rabbit. Well, most people. There seems to be a little pile of pits forming on the floor from Kera's target practice. Someone should mention that her aim needs a lot of work. To appease her adorable canine, the greenrider takes a small bite from a cherry, making sure she has the pit, and holds out the rest of it to Rabbit. The canine gives it a sniff before wasting no time claiming the treat. Kera chuckles and shifts a bit, obvious sitting so that nothing touches her left shoulder. Her fresh ink can be seen, as well as a thin oily sheen over her skin.

Triven steps in from the infirmary, his hair is pulled back into a runner tail to keep it out of his face. He will move toward the serving tables and get a plate with a little bit of everything, which turns into a lot of everything and he grabs a mug of juice before heading over to sit down near the rider and her animal companion saying "Nice shot there" he is fully aware of the dog and will put the table between him and it.

Kera tosses the stem back in the bowl, fishing out another fruit and biting it at the base of the stem. Smirking as Rabbit licks her muzzle, some of the fur nearest her mouth a deep red, and begs in her cute way for more treats. "Yea, you're starving you little chubby thing you." It just so happens Rabbit has good reason to be chubby again. Kera, who spoils the canine rotten, shares more fruit, and spits the pits one by one. When another hits the floor, her head tilts back, canting a bit til she targets the source of the voice. "It hit the floor didn't it?" An amused wink before the bad angle has her lifting her head again. Rabbit, who's has a good number of pitted cherries, licks her deep red muzzle happily as she grooms.

Triven nods and smiles at the rider saying "how is your arm feeling? any heat or redness?" He is aware she is a healer but still will ask. Eating some of his food he looks over at the dog, and will visibly pale but tries to keep his nerve. He will bring his drink up to his lips to quench his dry throat, "Nice dog there".

Kera grins and glances to the loops and knot imbedded into her skin. "Healing nicely, a little oil and numbweed mixture keeps it from bothering me hardly at all. Did you track down the client you were looking for?" Another cherry plops into her mouth and a few seconds later, the pit drops onto the floor, adding to the pile. A smile for her fierce Rabbit, destroyer of any stuffy she gets her teeth not. "Thanks. She's a sweetie, but spoiled rotten. Even more so now that she's gonna have pups. Again."

Triven nods and will turn just slightly from the dog like he is protecting something, or himself. "I did, finally got my accounts settled. Might be moving on but we will see I guess the Headwoman wants to talk to me about using the infirmary so there is that." He starts to eat a little faster, still glancing at the dog with the red Maw.

Rabbit's nose lifts a bit as Triven's plate starts to get her attention. Licking her muzzle a couple more times, she belly crawls the few feet between Kera's chair and Triven's. Getting to her target, she sits really pretty like a 'good girl' that gets treats. Her tail wags hopefully and a couple of pathetic whines slip out of her cute self. Kera watches her canine, but simply chuckles at the routine. She sees it every few hours, but normally at the cottage. She nods to Triven. "Ah, glad you got your business deal in order. Brow arches at mention of the headwoman "What did she need to speak to you about?" The infirmary being one of the places that is sorta out of the headwoman's area of expertise.

Triven shrugs "No idea, maybe she wants a tattoo?" Because stranger things have happened, like this dog who is begging for food. The young man will look at the dog and move some meat scraps off his plate and push them over the edge of the table quickly retuning his hand to the comfort and safety of his little bubble. His eyes dart at the animal and it is clear he is a little uncomfortable but tries to play it cool.

Kera considers the notion then nods. "From what I know of her, sounds exactly like something she would do." Having lost sight of her furball, she leans over the edge a bit and smirks at the cuteness display that pays off. Rabbit pounces on the offered bits, even if they just 'hit the floor'. After making sure there are no more, Rabbit gives her happy little bark, though it sounds like a tiny cough, and spreads out on the floor by Triven's foot. She may even roll over and try to use his foot as a pillow. Kera says nothing, finding the little poofster adorable, never even thinking about Triven may be afraid of such overly sweet cuteness.

Triven visiably jumps at the bark, but when the dog moves over to lay on him with her cuteness he freezes. He is sweating like a wherry when a queen is about to rise, he will drink more of his juice and say "Really? any Ideas..of what she might like?" his voice cracks a bit as panic may or may not be setting in.

Kera shrugs a little as she thinks "Probably something she thinks is the latest fashion." Hearing the near squeak, she cants her head to Triven "Hmm. You okay? Something stuck in your throat or something?" Stretching a bit, she places the cherry bowl on the table, the scooches forward in the chair and starts scraping the pits into a neater pile with the edge of her sandal.

Triven smiles or at least tries not to grimace and he says "oh just trying to face a fear is all." He looks down at the dog but still wont move his legs or anything from the waist down.

Kera can't comprehend anyone being afraid of Rabbit, so she doesn't even make it to her 'to be feared' list that might concern the tattooist. Glancing about, Kera stretches both legs out, one more slowly than the other since it was tucked under her and a little stiffer than the other. She's shift her weight and lean an elbow on the armrest, inching her a little closer Xanadu's newest resident. "Afraid of so many greenriders in the same cavern?" Kera can't quite pull of a serious expression and ends up smirking a bit.

Triven shakes his head "no though it is always a concern when a person is surrounded with them." He makes a motion to the cute animal down at his feet saying "I had a bad experience with canines, so the healers say I should try to interact with them more." Look he is interacting, nor reacting but still he is giving it a good go.

Kera gives an amused 'knowing' nod about being surrounded. "It happens." Attention flickers about the large cavern, thankfully, everything's nice and calm today, hopefully it'll stay that way. A curious glance about the bad experience and she nods again. "Yea. That does sound like something C'rus would suggest." A gesture towards the sprawled out canine by the young man's feet. "Well, you couldn't pick a better canine to get over your fear with. Only thing she's a danger too are my stuffies. And sticks." Kera chuckles over that.

Triven nods and grins still not fully relaxing but it seems the body has gotten used to the adrenilne in his system. "that is good, I do try but well they say all things heal in time"

Kera nods, gaze drifting mainly between Rabbit and Triven, then cavern every so often. "You're not really used to being around animals huh? Or is it just canines that spook you due to an incedent?"

Triven smiles saying "I am not used to being around alot of things. But yes canines seem to be the worst thing." he will finish eating and then give to dog his left overs. "I got attacked when I was younger"

Kera scrunches her nose at the unfortunate event when he as much young. "Sorry to hear that. Guess I won't be adding your name to the list for a pup then." A little shrug and Kera reaches for a few of the cherries from the bowl she put on the table, then settles back to get comfy again. "Do you have any pets? Hmm, might be difficult if you never know where you'll be for very long huh?"

Triven nods to Kera saying "yeah, the longest pet I had was a little ferret but that was when I was at home in High reaches" he will sip his drink, watching to see of the dog finishes the plate for him so he can pick it up.

Kera darts her eyes to Triven, eyeing him a moment before chuckling at his wording. Shaking her head, still obviously amused "So, how long was the ferret?" She holds her hands out close together then wide apart. "Or did you mean how long did you have it? A sevenday, Turn or two?" Seems his sentence could have had a couple of proper interpretations. While Kera is amused by trying to figure out what Triven meant, Rabbit is snuffling her muzzle around the plate, eating most everything there is, unless it's finger roots. Plate will look licked clean except for any finger root bits there are.

Triven grins and chuckles saying "about two feet long, and I had him for two turns." he will shake his head and bend down hear the dogs face to pick up the plate not really watching where his hand is going now. "Why how big a menagerie do you have?" he will inquire seemingly at ease finally.

Rabbit gives one last snuffle across the plate, then across a couple of fingers when Triven goes to pick the plate up. 'no food', oh well' His hand gets a couple of licks 'thanks' before she begins investigating and looking for any other treats riders dropped nearby. Kera gives a bit of an eye roll and reaches for a few more of the dark fruits. "This may take a little while. Let's see." she'll munch on some cherries while listing off some of the zoo around Mon's weyr. "Moncerath and Jaicourath. My green and C'rus's blue dragonmates. Rabbit. Rabbit's pups when they arrive, til we find homes for them. C'rus big brown lazy canine. I have four..C'rus five? No four, so Eight flitters between us at the moment." Kera murmurs a bit as she mentally calculates and chomps away on a couple of cherries while she's at it. "And three cats…" She murmurs on and then spits out.. a pit. Then spits out an answer. "Fifteen. Not counting any eggs I happen to find in the strangest places."

Triven listens to the talking and gets to about the number when the dog licks his hand and he just reacts like a tightly wound up spring he shoots back and falls over from his chair with a loud crash and thump against the hard floor. He will lay there for a time blinking at what just happened and trying to get his eyes to refocus.

Kera is doing a mental calculation, double-checking her animal math, not really paying attention to what Rabbit is doing at the moment. So the sudden ruckus and crashing makes her jump, gaze immediately seeking out her tiny canine. The fur ball is darting towards her chair, eyes wide and looking back as she trots to Kera and hops onto her lap. Pup safe, her next concern is for the bowl of cherries. Pregnant woman's priorities. Grabbing the bowl so it doesn't go crashing and ruining the fruit, she leans to eye a prone Triven, brow arching after a moment. He doesn't 'look' or sound injured. "Would you count that as a gravity shift, balance issue, or are you dizzy?" Yea, now ya see why it's hard to take this healer seriously.

Triven blinks a bit and will turn his head to look at her saying "sorry what the ringing is back in my right ear" he says loudly. Even where she sits his pupils are dilated wrong and he seems to be unable to right himself at the moment with out being wobbly.

Kera gives up talking to the man right now when he starts yelling about his ears ringing, shuffling Rabbit onto one side of the cushion and shifting forward again. A nearby resident pauses on the way to his seat and offers Triven a hand on one side while Kera offers a hand on the other side, trying to help the young man sit up. She scrutinizes him and gestures for him to lean forward some so she can reach his head. She'll gently feel for a rising bump, then pass a single finger back and forth in front of his eyes a couple of times. She doesn't yell, but mouths the words so that they can be understood. "Does..your..head..hurt?"

Triven will fallow the finger, with his head not his eyes, and when she mouths the words he starts to nod but will stop himself as he gets dizzy again. "Not as bad as the explosion but still pretty bad" he says quieter which is to mean he doesnt yell just talks loudly.

Kera frowns a little but nods. Not feeling a lump she gestures for Triven to stay where he is for a couple of moments. Rabbit whines as she watches the treat giving man, Kera reaching to scratch the canine's ears. "He's alright Rabbit. Just bumped his melon a bit." A ruffle to the back of the poofball's neck and she peers back to Triven curiously "What happen? One moment, you were eating, then the next.." She gestures how he was suddenly on the floor.
