Xanadu Weyr - Training Grounds
A wide, grassy expanse, nestled into the gentle bowl shape where something's taken a bite out of the mountain. It's high above the level of the beach, and there's a good eastern view of the lake and a long path leading down to that sandy shore. Granite cliffs surround it on the other sides.
While much of the grounds are left in their natural state, one area has been trampled and trodden by enough feet that the grass struggles to grow. A running track circles a set of equipment - straw dummies with wooden frames, obstacles of various sizes and shapes, and targets for flaming, archery, and whatever else.
There's a dragon-sized opening to the south that leads to the cavernous weyrling barracks, and a smaller tunnel to the northeast - large enough for dragons newly emerged from the sands, but quickly outgrown by hatchlings who are then forced to take the long way around - at least, until they learn to spread their wings and fly. Between them in both position and size, a jagged crack in the stone leads to a dim cave with the sound of water.

Another day; another adventure with Kivshiralth as he seems determined to have adventure. This morning though Is'ac has him somewhat corralled outside in the training area. Not caring in the least of the mud the bronze weyrling is sitting crossed legged in a grassy area albeit very flattened down. Kivshiralth is several yards away sprawled straight on his stomach with wings spread out wide.

Kera strolls towards the training rounds, a large picnic basket clutched in her hands. From the off-kilter stance as she walks, it must be quite heavy. Spotting the weyrling pair, the greenrider alters her course to veer there way. "Well G'morning Is'ac. And you as well Kivshiralth." Kera voices the dragon's name a bit stiltedly, but with use, it'll come out more smoothly. Head canting to Is'ac, she gestures to the basket. "Broke fast yet? I stopped by the kitchen and grabbed a couple thermos of klah and most of a trail of egg sausage rolls for the Weyrlings." After a moment she adds "Ya know, there's nice softs beds and couches in there?" Head tilt to the barracks before she chuckles "Or as the smell gotten that bad?" There is a lot of mucking happening in there after all.

It's not one that really rolls off the tongue though Is'ac certainly makes it look east to pronounce. "Kivshiralth!" he calls out with a goofy grin. "I thought you were going to be stretching your wings…" his train of thought of broken with the arrival of Kera. He starts to scramble to his feet. "Mornin' ma'am. Not yet no." he says of the food question. "I wasn't hungry before." mainly cause it is not so appealing to eat right after feeding ones young dragon. "Oh um well Kiv wanted to be outside." though from his nose wrinkle he adds the smell isn't all roses inside the barracks. "Klah would be awesome." he'll ask for that first.

Kivshiralth rolls over before getting up and crouching low to watch Kera and Is'ac. « Trainer?» his thoughts swirl to wrap around his life-mate, not quite fully private yet.

Kera crouches down when hearing that Is'ac hasn't eaten yet, already waving of the 'ma'am' business "Oh, don't be doin all that. Just Kera please. Unless some bigwig is around, then well use your best judgment. It wasn't that many turns ago I was on your place." Shrugging with an easy going grin, she flips over the baskets and hands over a thermos. Nodding in understanding "The first few months /are/ rather fragrant. But once they start betweening, the barracks will be fresher." An amused wink flashes "Now eat your fill." Kera turns her attention to the young bronze, a gentle headshake as she walks a half circle around him "I'll never get over just how quickly they seem to grow."

Is'ac settles back down into his previous position, cross legged on the ground. "Thanks." is said with honest gratitude right after he opens the thermos of klah first. "All the days are really starting to blur together a bit to be honest. The smell is the thing I really notice least." bobbing his head at something he watches Kera circle the bronze and takes a moment to fill his mouth a couple times. "More to oil daily!" he'll comment once his mouth is emptied once more. Kivshiralth preens under the admiring gaze. He may not be as vain as Qhynn but when someone is admiring you it would be run if once didn't put full attention forward on them! « She will teach us today? » his bronze head turns to peer towards his rider. « You were not hungry earlier when I ate food. » he points out loudly.

Kera admires the young dragon's coloring, wings and limbs a moment, giving Is'ac a moment to get a few sips of klah in him before replying with an amused snort. "It tended to be the more part of weyrlinghood for me. And that's growing up with a beastcrafter for a dad." She doesn't even go into the odors that can be found in an infirmary. "I would say that at least you won't have to muck anymore after they start betweening, but then one day your weyrmate may bring home a stubborn canine pup." Grinning at her little joke, her gaze slips back to the young bronze, who regards Is'ac. "Soon you'll be needing to use the pole scrubbers to reach his back and wings. Then you'll been to take it a step further and climb up his back to reach it even with the pole scrubbers." Kera chuckles softly at that and reaches to gran one of the breakfast rolls to nibble on. Instinctively, her eyes scan the skies as if expecting little blurs to show up to beg for her food.

Is'ac gives an amused snort of laughter. "Being a sr. apprentice to the beast craft I would say chances are good I'd be the one bringing home a stubborn canine pup." the klah seems to be helping perk him up a bit more now. That and the food. mostly ignoring the whole mucking part of the conversation he turns his gaze back to the bronze. "Yup, it seems he grows visibly daily. I think Qhynn's a bit bigger than him though." one shoulder lifts in a slight shrug of indifference to that.

Kera gets a bite or two from her roll, eyeing Kivshiralth with a slightly critical eye and shrugging as well after a few seconds "Hard to tell right now, maybe if they were both here to gauge differences. Either way, he's still gonna be a big ole dragon in a couple of turns." A little grin as she pushes back to her feet. "I've a few things to get done before lessons." She gestures to the basket "Would ya mind taking this in for the others?"

Is'ac bobs his head in agreement as he pushes himself to his feet as well on the heels of her movement. "Yup. I'll even leave them a few things too." he teases. "Thanks for the fresh, hot food!" and klah too. Kiv follows along behind Is'ac with obvious questions as Is'ac attempts to walk and talk to the bronze at the same time.
