Visiting the Flower Shop

Xanadu Weyr - Beach

The unerring range of subdued white rises and falls in a multitude of sandy dunes, creating an endless amount of tiny valleys constantly demolished and rebuilt by the frequent arrival or departure of a dragon. Smoothing out as it slopes gently to the edge of the deep blue water, the sand darkens and a shell here and there stands out for children to collect. The beach itself is set along a low cliff - the height lessoning as one heads eastwards, blocking a portion of the beach from direct access.
The wide wide stretch of water opens up to the east, the far distant shore way beyond the horizon and the beach curves ever so slowly round to east and west, distant arms of land embracing the wind-ruffled Caspian Lake. East leads up to the mouth of the Rubicon River, where the protecting cliff is merely an arms length higher then the sand, and beyond that, a winding road leading out of Xanadu's territory. Westwards, the beach narrows as the cliff swings out, leaving a path wide enough for dragons in single file before cutting in to the sheltered cove designated the Weyrling Beach. However, cut in the cliff face to the north are a variety of rough, wide staircases, providing access to the clearing and to the meadow.

Datsun comes out of the Treetop Cafe, humming to himself as he rubs his belly, which looks a bit bigger than usual. Calling over his shoulder through the open door, "Thanks for the good food!" As the door swings closed, the Crafter begins to stroll towards the stairway.

Wakua is laying on the beach on a towel. She has on a bikini and is laying on her belly. She is reading a book on smithing. She hears Datsun's voice and she waves to him, "Hey Datsun!"

Blinking as his name reaches his ears, Datsun turns around, seeing who it is. "Oh, hello, Wakua." The teenager changes his course, heading over to the Smith apprentice, coming closer. "Enjoying a day off, I see, but still focused on work." He nods towards the book.

Wakua nods, "Yep, gotta try to get ahead when I can. What are you up to?" She asks as she puts a bookmark in her book and closes it. She rolls over on her back and sits up.

Datsun nods, "I can understand that. You've still got a couple of Turns to go." he answers, glancing back at the Cafe, "I just got done eating at the Cafe back there." A thumb is pointed back, "I was heading back to try and finish up the trusses for Jethaniel's project but I can spare a bit of time." The Crafter crouches down, not sitting but not standing either.

Wakua smiles, "Oh what are the trusses for? Helping to get the heat back on the sands?" She asks, "Yah I do have couple of turns to go before I can walk the tables. I probably won't do it til I'm like 17 or 18, but I would like to be senior apprentice."

Datsun nods, crouching besides Wakua, "Aye, apparently Jethaniel is building some kind of pump to take water from the river, but he needs a waterway to bring the water to the Sands so he can get the heating system back up. That's pretty much all I understand. He needs the trusses to support the waterway. Afterwards, I'm taking them apart and reusing the wood where it's needed." A little grin shows up, "And if I finish fast, I get a bonus from the Weyr. Well, no better way to get to Senior quicker than putting in the overtime and studying in your time off."

Tsenik makes his way into the beach with his hands tuffed in his pockets, he catches snippets of the conversatioon between Wakua and Datsun, "Is that what that whole thing is about. It's an eyesore as far as I am concerned." Tsenik grins as he looks between the two, "How's it going?"

Wakua nods, "I wish that I could work the forge, but only senior apprentices are allowed to do that and only with supervision, all I can do now is work the bellows and watch." She nods, "All the more reason for me to study hard." She looks over at Tsenik, "I'd rather it be an eyesore and work than to have a clutch of cold eggs."

Datsun smirks at Tsenik's words, looking over at him, "In this case, it's function over form. Besides, it's temporary, as I said. Soon enough, you'll have your beautiful Weyr back, that Gold and Brown will be happy, and so will my marks pouch. Hello, Tsenik." The said pouch is patted, "You will soon enough. Fire is dangerous enough, and I wouldn't want to mess around with melted metal. No thanks, I'll stick to my wood. The most I get are splinters."

Tsenik sighs softly as he flops onto the ground, "Well, I rather see something that looks half-way decent than look at that…thing, but if it's for the eggs?" He gives a shrug, "I can put up with it for a little while." He looks between the two, "Fire? Oh, in the smithary?"
Wakua nods, "I understand that they need to be safe, but I'd also like a chance to show that I can do more than just read about smithing. I used to help my grandfather all the time with smithing things at his forge." She looks over at Tsenik, "I'm sure they'll take it down as soon as they can."

Datsun raises an eyebrow at Tsenik, "I'll go and turn the trusses into topless women supporting a waterway. Would you prefer that? Or perhaps flower, O Lord Holder Tsenik?" A wink to show that he's only teasing, not meaning anything serious. Finally he drops from his crouch into a seating position, facing Wakua, "You'll get your chance. Just keep what you're doing and you'll get it before you know it. After all, Tsenik got his flower shop up and running quicker than I thought he would. I need to drop by and see your shop, by the way." The last is directed to Tsenik.
Tsenik wrinkles his nose, "I don't know if I like the idea of a bunch of naked women about." Tsenik says softly." He chuckles, "Okay, okay, my opinion clearly doesn't matter. You don't need to pick on me." The tean pouts as he gathers up some sand into hand and lets it slowly fall out between his fingertips. "You really should visit my shop, Datsun, I'm really proud of it, it looks so good, too." He pratically beams at the mention of his shop, nodding at Wakua. "Maybe they'll let me plant flowers there when it gets taken down."

Wakua giggles a little bit, "That would be interesting if you did Datsun, you do have experience with that thing after all." She ohs softly, "Just going to see it because it's opened or do you need flowers for some reason?" She asks curiously and she looks back towards Tsenik, "Maybe they will you should ask if you can it'd be a great way to promote your shop."

"Then I will." Datsun answers Tsenik, glancing at Wakua as she questions him, "Not really. No, I'll visit his shop because I consider him a friend and I know he's been saving up a long time to open that shop. After all, if I ever get my own workshop, I'd hope my friends would come by and see it, even if they didn't need anything done. It's the thought that counts." A smile, glancing over at Tsenik again, "Why not? I agree with Wakua, that would be a great way. Who knows, maybe the Weyrwoman would let you keep a display in the Caverns. That place could do with some color."

Tsenik smiles, "I'll be more than happy to visit your workshop whenever you get one, Datsun. Feel free to stop by, even just to look around, I'm really proud of it." He smiles happily as he turns to Wakua, "Does he need to have a reason to stop by? You could stop by too, I sell lots of stuff, like perfumes and flowers, even some seeds." He grins widely as he looks between the two, shaking his head, "No, I have my dream now, I have my shop, I can't really ask for a whole lot more."

Wakua smiles as she gets up and she puts on a large oversized shirt. She puts her belt on over it and puts her boots on. She puts her googles on her head and she smiles at the pair, "I was just wondering, why don't we all go to Tsenik's shop and he can show us all the things that he sells in his shop." She hmms, "Well you aren't asking for more, you are asking to do something for the Weyr, you would be earning your keep."

"You should talk to the Weyrwoman. Who knows, if she comes by and sees your shop and likes it enough, maybe she'd want you to keep fresh flowers in her office. You never know until you ask." Datsun grins, watching Wakua dress herself, "Sure, I'm up for that." His eyes turn to Tsenik, "C'mon, let's go see your shop."

Tsenik grins at the idea, 'Well, I'm sure my shop will get much more popular now that I actually /have/ a shop." He pushes himself to his feet, dusting himself off. "Alright, we'll go take a look. I just closed up for a break, but you guys can come take a look if you'd like." He nods towards clearing, "It's off the clearing. Well, I'm just trying to do as much as I can, and hopefully I can at least brighten people's lives with a flower."

Wakua shakes out her towel and she rolls it up. She packs away her stuff and puts on her backpack, "All right let's go. Lead the way Tsenik it's your shop."

Datsun rises from the sands, brushing it off his pants and boots. "Yeah, we will. Do you do only flowers or do you do other plants as well?" He queries, standing up and follows Tsenik's lead with Wakua.

Xanadu Weyr - Petals and Pots Garden Shop

Upon entering this rustic shop, the smell of flowers is the first thing that one notices as well as the subtle musty scent of fertilizer. Selling everything for your garden needs from flowers and plants to pots and tools, the whole shop is lined with shelving filled with various things, arranged neatly by type. On the back wall trowels, rakes, shovels and clippers hang from nails, while underneath them clay pots, glass vases and bowls are stacked on the floor. In the middle of the shop is a small table that is filled with tiny glass perfume bottles with glass stoppers, each bearing a label that says 'Handcrafted by Tsenik'. These contain different fragrances, depending on the shape of the bottle. A variety of hanging baskets dangle from the ceiling, tumbles of lush vibrant flowers or vine-type plants trailing from them with price tags on the pots.

A sign can be seen near the entrance that simply states "Woo your significant other, send a hint to your brother or say hello to your mother with a surprise delivery!"

Tsenik leads the way into his shop, flipping the sign that says closed to open and holding open the door for his two friends, "Well, what do you think?" He asks as he waves a hand to the shop, "It's a bit small, but it suits my purposes."

Datsun looks around once he enters the shop, "It's great." He comments, moving over to a royal blue flower, "I like this one. I'm not much for flowers myself, but that's a great color." A grin is offered to Tsenik, "Hey, you have your own shop. Not many people can say that. You have every right to be proud of it."

Wakua follows the other two in and she starts to look around. She hmms as she looks around and she starts to look at the tools on the back of the wall. She hmms, "Those are some nice tools that you have up there Tsenik." She comments.

Tsenik smiles as he looks between the two, looking quite proud of himself, "I'm glad you like it. I'm hoping more people come in and take a look, not many people have been in since Kale came in to take a look. I'm kinda dissapointed, I thought there'd be more demand for this sort of thing." He grins at Wakua, "thanks, I got 'em from a couple of places around here."

Datsun agrees with Wakua, "Tools are always good." A nod to Tsenik, catching sight of a hanging vine-type plant, "Hey, I like that. That would look great in the Woodcrafters' workshop." Speaking of the Woodcraft, an apprentice comes in briefly, calling, "Journeyman, we need you on the trusses." Then he ducks out. Datsun snaps his fingers, "Sorry, Tsenik. I'll be back to get that. Don't let me forget." He points at the vine-plant, "See you later!" is said to both Wakua and Tsenik, heading out.

Wakua nods a little bit, "I thought I recognized the work." She looks to Datsun, "See you later, good luck with them." She looks back towards the tools for another moment and than over towards the flowers, "These are all very nice."

Tsenik looks at the vine plant that Datsun mentions, "Alright, I'll tuck it away for you and if you want it, you just have to come and pick it up." He flashes a grin as Datsun ducks out, turning towards Wakua, "Well, I bought 'em from the crafts around here. So of course they're good. I try to support everyone else in my shop."
