Hot and Bubbly

Xanadu Weyr - Observation Level
Dark blue seats form a semi-circle around the sands below, the lowest row separating from the sands themselves by merely a railing. The seats climb upwards, each row a bit higher then the previous, and they are broken up into sections by 3 sets of staircases. Lights are evenly spaced along the outer wall, lighting the seats and the sands easily, though they tend to be dimmed unless a major event is taking place. A large balcony looms overhead, darkening some of the seats, providing a place for observers of the draconic kind to watch without obstructing the view for others.
When one looks over the railing, the oddly hued sand below can be seen easily, the circle-shaped area of the sands spread out to the far walls, the sand itself a unique mixture of red and white grains.

Idrissa hasn't wandered by to see the eggs, there could be a few reasons for that but none that she would bring up. She glances around once moving up the steps, a box rests in a hand along with a few bottles of some cold looking drink from the looks of it. Her gaze lingers on the sands, plenty of memories coming to her by just that sight alone. So much has changed since she left those sands.. A soft breath escapes her before she moves onwards in search of Soriana. She has on a short sleeved tunic that is white with green leafy embroidered patterns across it, shorts and sandals. Well it gets hot in these places she doesn't need to be all dressed up after all.

Soriana, meanwhile, has been doing very little except seeing the eggs. Eggs, paperwork, the occasional visitor… yeah, that's pretty much her life these days. At the moment, Luraoth's alone on the sands with her brood, and Soriana's sitting near the rail and reading a weather report. Not that it matters. The only weather she gets to experience is hot and dry, but… it showed up in her stack and she hasn't put it down yet.

Idrissa smiles once she catches sight of Soriana and continues on the trip towards where she happens to be. "Hey Soriana.." Her gaze flicks towards the sands a bit more relaxed seeing that a certain bronze isn't out there with Luraoth it seems. "Up for a visitor.. I brought snacks.." Food, the way to everyone's heart of course.

Oh, Kanekith will be back on the sands before long, but for the moment, Ka'el has managed to drag his bronze away for a few drills. Soriana looks up at Idrissa, and waves. "Heya," she says, and smiles as she puts the page aside. She doesn't need a weather report, anyway. She hehs at the mention of snacks, glancing to the box. "Thanks." Of course, she should be receiving regular meals delivered from the caverns, but… …hey, snacks! Soriana waves a hand to the seat next to her. Come! Join her in the hot dry staring at sand.

Idrissa will most likely slink off if Kanekith appears.. Because.. well.. Just because.. She smiles all the while as she wanders on to sit next to Soriana. A bottle of cold cider offered to her. "Figure something cold would be good to drink here.. As for snacks, I was able to steal some fresh bubbles." Yes she got a box with a small amount of the sweets within it and half rattles the box before offering it to Soriana with a grin seen.

"It won't stay cold for long." Soriana grins as she accepts the bottle. First it's held to her forehead - ahhhh. Coooooold - and then she opens it to actually have some to drink. As for the box, well - "Should I be expecting angry cooks chasing you? Are they going to take me in for accepting stolen goods?"

Idrissa chuckles and nods, a smile seen while she twists off the top to take a sip from her drink. At the question she eyes the box pondering. "Naw.. You can blame me for it all." This said with an amused tone. "Anyway the cooks was all busy with a bunch of kids, told me to take a few things as I said I was coming to visit you actually."

Soriana hehs, and nods. "Well, good. Means I can savor 'em instead of trying to eat 'em all before justice catches up with me." She grins, and opens the box to pick one up. It's still hot! Which is sort of good (bubbling!) and sort of… well… she's got a lot of hot, lately. Still. She nibbles on it.

Sure they may be hot, but really a cold bubble is not a good thing to munch on, unless one is /really/ desperate. Idrissa chuckles softly. "Naw, no reason to inhale them." This said with an amused tone while she peers down into the sands looking at all the mounds. "I wanted to come by sooner.. But I didn't want to get in the way." Code word she didn't want to cause a problem being here. "I figure you all have been pretty busy anyway."

Besides, if they get too cold, Soriana can just set the box on the sands for a couple moments. Problem: solved! She pauses in her nibblings as Idrissa speaks, and frowns slightly as she glances out to the sands. Luraoth and the eggs. Soriana glances back to Idrissa, considering her for a moment, then slides a smile back on her face as she shakes her head. "Nah. I really haven't been. Luraoth's doing well. It's just… keeping her company. It's pretty boring."

Indeed the hot sands would make them all nice and toasty once more! Idrissa pulls out one of the bubbles while she leans back in the seat, picking at the treat. "I'm glad she's doing good. I figured you wouldn't get far from her side." A soft smile seen while she glances towards Soriana. "Can I get you anything.. Books, cards.. something..?"

"I'm doing okay," Soriana says, with a vague tilt of her head back to where a cot's been set up in the corner with a few assorted things near it. Soriana's Survival Camp. "I manage to escape sometimes, when Kanekith's here, but…" she trails off, and shrugs. "Mostly I'm stuck here. So." She smiles. "How've you been?"

Idrissa catches sight of the cot, and well the gear. "So.. mushroom soup then?" This questioned with an amused tone, slight grin seen. She chews on a bite of pastry, a slight nod seen at the bit on Kanekith being here now and then. "I've been good. Got to get back to work as Tahryth isn't a grumpy lumbering dragon anymore." Indeed her green is back to her normal friendly self.

"Not so much." Soriana smirks. "Maybe if it was a cold soup?" But she can't imagine how you'd get cold mushroom soup without being slimy, so… maybe she'll just stick with hot bubblies and cold sandwiches. She has another bite of the pie before tilting her head to Idrissa, smirk gone. "Yeah? So… how was the flight?"

Idrissa ponders that one. "Maybe if you just add in ice cubes instead of rocks? Though I wouldn't suggest adding to much water into it then." At the question there is a pause, a faint blush works across her cheeks, maybe it is from the hot sands? "It.. Was good. No problems from it.." In other words she didn't get hurt. "Mur'dah even came over the next day making sure everything was alright."

The revised mushroom soup recipe doesn't sound very appetizing, but Soriana just makes a brief face at it before letting that part of the conversation drop. She doesn't believe in the slightest that the blush is from the sands, but she does watch it before nodding slightly. "Good." She's glad Idrissa didn't get hurt. Mur'dah's visit gets another nod, and then Soriana looks away. She… was busy. But at least Mur'dah checked.

Idrissa could think of a few things that would perhaps make the mushroom soup taste better, but no she isn't crazy about it herself either. She hasn't actually ate any mushrooms's since that night when everything got a little.. smokey. Everything was fine, no problems came from it in the least. Her gaze lingers on the sands. "Are you and Ka'el doing alright after everything..?" She's curious, but she wants them to work it out if possible.

Soriana lifts her gaze from the sand to look back at Idrissa, and shrugs. "We're working it out." Which has been her answer for a while, hasn't it? Still, she puts on a smile as she says it, before changing the subject. "Did you take that trip you were planning on?"

Idrissa is now the one watching Soriana, checking perhaps though she won't push the matter. A slight nod is seen while she glances to the side. Oh subject change! "Yeah.." There is a slight pause, a faint frown seen while she lifts her head. "Samuel is in the seacraft, he wasn't there.. My uncle and aunt was happy to see me." There is a slight amused look seen. "He tried to give me a runner."

Subject change! Because vagueness and smiles are all Soriana's going to give on that other one. She nods about the trip. "I suppose if you got a mare you could start yourself a little business?" she says with a laugh, then shakes her head. "So where's Samuel sailing? What ports?"

Idrissa chuckles softly while rubbing her hands off across her pants. "Yeah.. He wants to give me a mare that I helped with before I left. She's cute I won't lie." Don't give her ideas, she is thinking about it! "His all over, went to Landings and goes to Eastern, sometime to Western as well. My uncle wasn't sure if he would ever come to Xanadu." Possible.

Soriana isn't giving ideas. (Or mares.) The idea is already there in Idrissa's head! She's just… not trying to talk Idrissa out of it. (Because the last time she tried that, it went so well.) "Well, maybe you and Tahryth can go meet him somewhere. You do deliveries, he does deliveries…" Depending on the exact nature of the Seacrafting, of course, but… Soriana shrugs. "If you want to, anyhow."

Indeed the ideas is there, planted and let's face it she'll most likely be getting that mare at some point. Idrissa nods slightly. "Yeah.. That's what I sort of figure. That we would perhaps run into one another at some point.. Have a talk." Yes a talktalk sort of talk.

Soriana nods a little, and then… pries further! "So… what about your mom?" Who seems to have been conveniently left off the list of people.

Idrissa pauses at the talk of her mother and she looks off, a slight bit of unsureness seen as that is questioned. "She was there.." Needless to say it didn't end well from how she is acting, a sip is taken from the bottle. "A lot of things was said.. Nothing nice."
Soriana watches Idrissa, silent to let (or was that make?) her fill it with her answer. Once it's given, she nods. "Well." A pause. "At least you've got your aunt and uncle. Maybe next time you can bring them to visit here."

Idrissa frowns for a few moments while she watches the sands. "I don't know what I expected. I was hoping for something I guess." She doesn't glance back to Soriana now, going over that conversation again. "She still blames me for so much. I just don't understand.." Maybe she shouldn't try to understand? A slight nod is seen. "Yeah, they want to come visit. I figure at some point they can."

"If she's going to keep living in the past…" Soriana frowns, and shakes her head. "It can be hard, sometimes. Moving past what happened. Thinking about the present, but… people have to try, and if they're not trying, there's… well, there's really not much you can do." She half-smiles, rueful. "And if they are trying, you should be patient. Even if it's hard."

Idrissa nods slightly at this, her head lowering a touch while her fingers slide across the bottle. "Yeah.. I know.." The more she tries the harder it seems to be though, with certain people at least. A glance is offered to Soriana. "Well.. I'm trying to be patient, but I don't know if it's helping with her or making it worse." Could go either way with her mother really.

Soriana tilts her head to Idrissa. "I'm not saying you're not. I'm…" she gives her head a shake, and smiles. "The heat's cooking my brains and making me spout philosophy. It's just… I guess what I'm trying to say it, it's not your fault. If she's going to be stuck on what happened - what, ten turns ago? - it's not your job to fix it."

Idrissa pauses at that and blinks, well hey that's an idea. "Then.. Why do I feel like I have to try and fix it?" She questions after a moment. Though this goes the same with her problems with Ka'el, not that it matters now. "I get what your saying though. It's just hard I guess.." She just wants everything fixed, but life does not work that way.

"Just because you feel something doesn't mean it's true." Soriana's smile is a rueful one, and she takes a long, slow sip of her cider. "Sometimes two people feel the exact opposite way about something. Or one person feels two ways that don't fit together at all." She shrugs. "And, yeah. It's hard." She half-smiles. "Sorry?"

Idrissa glancs to Soriana, a slight nod seen. "Yeah.. That's true.." She's quiet now looking to the sands and watching them for a few moments. "Nothing to be sorry for." The box of buddles is pushed on over to Soriana, a soft smile seen. "You can have the rest. I'll try and steal something else next time so I don't keep bring you the same stuff." This said with an amused tone.

Soriana keeps that half-smile, and shrugs. Maybe she doesn't have anything to be sorry for. Maybe she does. Maybe she feels it. Maybe she doesn't. The world is a complicated place, sometimes. She accepts the box of treats, though. "Thanks. Sure you don't want another?" Not that she can't have a meal of bubblies, but… well. It's good to share.

Idrissa shakes her head at that. "Naw.. I actually have a date tonight.." There is a slight pause as she finshes her drink. "So I figure I most likely shouldn't eat to many sweets."

"Oh," Soriana says, and glances down to the box again. Well then, she and these pastries will just keep each other company. They'll have their own private party. "Things're going well with that, then?"

Idrissa glances to Soriana and nods, a soft smile seen. "Yeah.. It is going well. No problems in the least." She shifts slowly standing while capping the bottle once more. "I have a few things to finsh before going to it actually. Can I get you anything before I go?"

Soriana nods, and asks no further on that. She glances around at the question, then shakes her head. "Nah. I think I'm good. Thanks for coming by, though!" It gets so dull up here. "Come by anytime…" No. Really. …down on the sands, Kanekith arrives with a fresh kill to share with Luraoth.

Idrissa smiles and nods as she glances towards the sands, her gaze lingering on Kanekith a few moments before she turns to leave. "I will, promise. Bring you some more snacks next time.. Maybe some cards or something." Have to help pass the time, right? With a wave she is off heading on out.
