Xanadu Weyr - Shore of Lake Caspian
The cliffs that run along the shore come and go, various weyrs nestled along the tops of them or dug into the walls, but eventually they recede enough to expose a beach. The white sand echoes the rise and fall of the cliffs with a multitude of sandy dunes, endlessly creating tiny valleys that are constantly demolished and rebuilt by the frequent arrival or departure of dragons. The dunes smooth out as the gentle slope approaches the edge of the deep blue water. The sand darkens, and a shell here and there stands out for children to collect.
The beach narrows to the southwest, leaving a path barely wide enough for dragons in single file before cutting in to a smaller, more sheltered cove. The sands are the same white, the waters the same blue, but they're calmer and more tranquil, more protected from the winds that ruffle Lake Caspian and the currents that tug beneath the surface.
Rough, wide stairs lead up to the meadow above and the road that runs along the top of the cliffs, passing through the fields and heading for the river mouth that can be just barely seen from here. The largest of the staircases up the cliff is located near the docks that jut out onto the peaceful blue waters.
Alosynth is currently sprawled out on the beach, with Keziah tucked up in the crook of a dragon arm. The two seem to be enjoying watching the gentle waves that wash onto the shore. "It's good to have a bit of a break, isn't it dearheart?" she asks and then grins as there's a croon from the green. "Yeah, I suppose we really should take a break again. Been getting a bit restless myself." She notes.
Kera kicks little bits of sands up with each step across the beach. A hide-wrapped package braced under her arm and held firm with that hand. Moncerath, minus her straps, lumbers awkwardly over the ground. Every so often she bounds a few dragon paces off and digs her claws in the sands happily. Minimur and Polgara are winging around, working dizzying little aerial maneuvers over the water but not get wet as they zoom back upwards, chittering excitedly in their game. Kera spot Alosynth lounging a little further ahead and hurries her steps. Not seeing her target quite yet, her gaze slips towards the water, perhaps Keziah is taking a swim? No sight waterwards, so back towards the sprawled dragon her attention goes. More distance covered across the beach and she does catch sight of Keziah after all, silly shadows hiding riders in plain sight. Lifting her free hand "Afternoon Awlm Keziah, Alosynth." She offers a polite tip of her head to each as Moncerath warbles a chirpy greeting of her own. But that water is just calling to the younger green and so tromp, and splashes that way, tail tapping the water with little *splat* sounds with each step.
Alosynth chuffs softly at the younger green and Kezi peeks up "Well hello Kera, and an afternoon to you as well." Alosynth stretches out her neck towards Kera a moment, blowing out warm air. "And how are you doing? No duties at the moment?" she asks with a grin as she pats the ground "Have a seat, Alosynths got plenty of space." she notes. Alosynth huffs a little and Kezi grins "You do not have a fat butt dear. Honestly."
Kera slows her steps, feet dragging to a stop near the relaxing green pair as the muzzle stretches forward in a warm breath washes past her. Once she has received the older dragon's 'approval' Kera grins and takes the last couple of steps to where Keziah is reclining against her dragonmate. "I'm good, out for a bit of fresh, maybe a swim later if the water's warmed up enough yet." She glances towards the water, smiling as Moncerath seems to keep surging forward and trying to pounce fish under the water. The greenhealer seems very amused as she shakes her head and looks back to the Awlm. " No duties til later this evening. Til then it's play time for them." A tip of her head towards the water and back before she gently pats the bundle under her arm "And I just happen to have something for /You/". Taking a knee next to the pair on the sand, she carefully works herself to a seated position before handing over the hide wrapped bundle, over one foot by one foot in size.
Keziah grins "Play time is always useful. Something I need to do more often myself. We were just talking about it actually. Thinking about taking some time off for a little bit." she notes and then she blinks. "Something for me?" she asks and purses her lips thoughtfully and then she ohs! "It's done? It's ready?" she asks as she takes the bundle and carefully begins to unwrap it to take a look see at it. "Oh… oh my." she begins to grin brightly.
With the package safely delivered Kera breaths a bit easier and settles back to enjoy the warming day. Propping up on her hands and stretching her feet out after kicking her sandals off, she watches with a nearly giddy grin of her own as she waits for Keziah's reaction. Letting out a nervous breath when the reaction seems favorable. "Already? Not sure I would have put it like that since it took nearly half a turn. But I didn't wanna rush the work." Nodding at her explanation, she cants her head a bit to look at the framed scene. "I was having trouble with my sketches of them sleeping. But one day I came across them on the beach." She flicks her fingers towards the thready image. "I changed a couple things around and came up with this."
Keziah grins and shrugs "I've no idea how long it would take. I've seen some weavings take quite some time. And that's by those working on it day in and out. So, eh. Half a turn?" She looks down at the image again "I like it. I will certainly cherish this." she murmurs softly. "And they are growing so quickly. Before I know it they'll be wedded or riders or doing something of their own."
Kera smiles and wiggles first her toes, then her feet in the sand, half burying them. Pleased when Keziah assures that she does like the image, she nods gently, her gaze drifting towards the water where her dragonmate has given up trying to catch a fingerfish, the little things darting between her claws easily. "So many candlemarks spent tending to duties and such, and when ya do manage to stop a moment and catch a breath, ya look up and wonder…when did that happen?" Gaze flips to Keziah a moment, gauging of she was on the same page as the older rider or not.
Keziah smiles and gives a little nod "Pretty much. Though over a greater period of time. I still remember when they were just babes. But, that's been the way of all of them. I still remember when Alosynth hatched." She looks up at her green and leans back a little. "And that was some time ago."
Kera nods thoughtfully to Keziah's words, going back to watching her winged family cavorting with the waves, chuckling at their antics "I don't have little ones, obviously,.." A quick grin is flashed to the older greenrider as she tosses in a shoulder lift and drop. "..but it does seem like just a couple months ago, I was making sure she wasn't tripping herself up over her wings. Poor little muzzle had a few scraps and bumps the first couple of sevenday." Shaking her head fondly at the memory, Kera pushes to her feet, leaving her sandals. "And right now, they are having too much fun that I'm missing out on, gotta remedy that." The greenhealer shrugs out of her t-shirt and short to reveal a bathing suit and tosses her clothes by her shoes. "I'm gonna go get a swim in before I get to scrubbing those three hides." Then she girl is jogging, then wading into the waves to join her winged family.
