Seaweed Fight!

Xanadu Weyr - Beach

The unerring range of subdued white rises and falls in a multitude of sandy dunes, creating an endless amount of tiny valleys constantly demolished and rebuilt by the frequent arrival or departure of a dragon. Smoothing out as it slopes gently to the edge of the deep blue water, the sand darkens and a shell here and there stands out for children to collect. The beach itself is set along a low cliff - the height lessoning as one heads eastwards, blocking a portion of the beach from direct access.
The wide wide stretch of water opens up to the east, the far distant shore way beyond the horizon and the beach curves ever so slowly round to east and west, distant arms of land embracing the wind-ruffled Caspian Lake. East leads up to the mouth of the Rubicon River, where the protecting cliff is merely an arms length higher then the sand, and beyond that, a winding road leading out of Xanadu's territory. Westwards, the beach narrows as the cliff swings out, leaving a path wide enough for dragons in single file before cutting in to the sheltered cove designated the Weyrling Beach. However, cut in the cliff face to the north are a variety of rough, wide staircases, providing access to the clearing and to the meadow.

The tide is low this morning, falling back off the shore. Soriana wanders the wet sands off to one side of the beach, following Inkfoot as he sniffs at crevices and tunnels. She's got a bag of netting in one hand, partly filled with frondy green stuff, and when she sights some of that caught on a rock she crouches down to pick it up and add it to her bag.

Idrissa has been helping gather the green frondy stuff in question. Her bag isn't anywhere close to having much in it like Soriana's though. Yet Ida's pockets have a good many shells she's collected along the walk through the low tide. Her boots off once more, up on nice dry land and her pants rolled up, yet they still managed to get wet. She continues along, and finds a floating bit of the green frondy items. "How much did you need of this?" Her voice loud enough to carry to her friend as another wave crashes into the sands around her.

More fronds, fewer shells. It averages out like that! Soriana jumps up onto a flattish rock, balancing there on one foot as she looks back to Idrissa. "Uhm. Dunno, really. He just said they were running low, so… I guess whatever we can find is good?" She considers on it for a moment, then shrugs. "If it's not enough, I'll just have to come out again." Tragedy, that! It's so horrible, having to wander along the beach with pets and friends. How will she ever manage to survive?

Idrissa nods at this while she runs along a few feet to catch up with Soriana near the rocks. "Suppose that's a good point." An glance is sent over the rocks and she crouches down to pull out a few clumps tangled around a rock. "What they use this stuff for anyway? Looks like some sorta seaweed." She makes a face as one clump is clinging to her and looking, well like dragon snot! "Ewww.." This from a girl who can clean up after runners without a care in the world.

"I think, uhm… there's some kinda important nutrient? That it's rich in, so they use it for when people are sick and need that. I think." So maybe Soriana wasn't exactly paying attention for that part. She hops back down off her rock, going over to peer at a tuft of something greenish… hmm. She picks it up, looking at it carefully, but… nope, wrong kind of slimy seaweed. Totally different. She looks back to Idrissa with a laugh as the other girl goes 'eww', and waggles the slimy weed at her threateningly.

Idrissa hooks the bit of rope that is on her net bag around her shoulder and uses her chin to keep it put while she works on getting the sticky green sea weed off. "Ah, well I suppose that is possible." Her gaze turns gowards Soriana, a faint eep escapes her before she grins and tosses the bit of stick weed she has a few times as if tempting the other to throw hers.

Oooh, it's seaweed chicken! Soriana grins, and starts to turn away… then spins back and throws the slimy green thing straight at Idrissa before charging off along the shore! Flee! Flee the righteous vengeance!

Indeed, seaweed chicken! The best game around! A sharp squeal escapes Idrissa as she is pelted with the icky, stick, wet green snot wed right upon her chest.. "Oh not you didn!" She calls out and is running after Sori with a laugh escaping her. Her bag is dropped on a rock as she passes it and she swings her arm and sends her ball of green weed flying towards her friend!

Oh yes she did! Soriana flees down the shore, laughing as she goes! Inkfoot scrambles out of the way with indignant dooks, and Sori just keeps on past, ducking when she hears what sounds like something being thrown… only to take it across the back of her head, brushing past her hair and leaving shreds of green plant and slime there. "Heyyy!" she says, and fumbles with the ball to catch it… hah! Built in revenge! She jumps up onto a piece of driftwood and turns back, throwing the seaweed-lump back at Idrissa again!

Idrissa grins and looks amazed that she hit the other. "Gotcha!" She calls out before she errs as the other is throwing it back at her? HEY that isn't fair! She turns about to run the other way with a laugh escaping her in the process. As she runs the waves come in and she scrambles a moment before feeling the wet *smack* of seaweed against her back and even leans forward a bit to much and crumbles to the wet sand with another laugh escaping her. "Darn you!" Is soon heard.

Fair? Since when are seaweed fights supposed to be _fair_? Soriana laughs, hopping back down off the driftwood to engage in pursuit! Yes, sure, she's unarmed now, but what difference should that make? Hot pursuit! And… victory! "Gotcha!" she says as the seaweed collides with Idrissa, and scampers toward her as the other girl falls down to the sand and gets splashed. Sori grins, slowing down and coming up behind Idrissa just as Toral appears overhead with a perplexed chirp!

Idrissa giggles faintly while she pushes herself up to her knees, her hands resting on the sand for a moment while she peers back at Sori. She waits a moment longer before turning and swings a handfull of more sticky green seaweed towards her friend. Looks like she fell right onto a bunch of the stuff. "HA!" Ah.. to be young and running around playing, such a hard life!

Soriana eeps! She ducks, which means she only takes the seaweed across the top of her head and a stray tendril of it to her cheek. Squelch. Her hair is going to require such washing! For that matter, so's her face! "Hey!" she says, scrambling back and looking for more ammo. Bound to be something, right? But this spot of the shore seems to have been picked mostly clean… except for where Idrissa is! Nooooo!

Idrissa giggles now, and another handfull is snagged and she goes about flinging it at Soriana as she stands up. They will for sure get some strange looks, one covered in green seaweed and the other dripping went after the waves went about attacking her a few times when she fell on the sand. "So.. Give up?" Is questioned as Ida eyes Soriana playful like.

Soriana meeps as another slimy chunk of seaweed smacks against her shoulder, leaving a wet and greenish splotch there. She hmmms, looking at the well-armed Idrissa, but then… her gaze flits past, to where a brown firelizard hovers in the air, making little swoops. Sori grins wide. "Welll…." she says, as Toral dives down along the shoreline… only to pick up a big piece of slick kelp and drag it into the air with vigorous wingbeats. He flies laboriously to a position above Idrissa's head as Sori delays… and then she says, "Nope!" just as her brown releases the kelp!

Idrissa is not use to looking up for the little Toral to join in on playtime it seems. She grins while her green gaze sparkles with amusement. The new bit of seaweed is bounced a few times in her hand. A faint oh soon escapes her and she is about to throw the bit she has until a slight squeal escapes her from the wet brown kelp that has attacked her! "EEEEE! Its alive!" She half yellsand squirms about trying to 'escape' until she figures out that Sori had help! She blinks a few times and peers up at Toral before laughing. "Hey!"

Soriana stands her ground at the threatened seaweed, right until… Splut! She laughs aloud, and Toral trills above as he loops in the air! Sori steps in after a moment or three, and helps tug the big piece of kelp off her friend. "That… was awesome," she says, still grinning wide as Toral veers in and hops up onto her shoulder from behind.

Idrissa chuckles and grins while nodding as she works on pulling the bit of kelp off. She makes a face at the sticky cold weed and once it is off she wipes her hand across damp pants in some attempt to get the feeling off. "Yes.. I'll agree that was awesome indeed." She looks to Toral and leans up to gives his chest a soft scrtiching. "Little trickester!"

Toral trills at the scritches, spreading his wings and fluttering them with every evidence of pride. Soriana's beaming grin probably contributes to that. She takes a look over Idrissa, and hehs. "Wow. You're a /mess/…" Her tone is halfway impressed by it, still not so adult that getting dirty is necessarily a bad thing…

Idrissa grins at Toral and then ehs while glancing at herself. "Yes.. well.." She pauses while working on trying to squeeze some water from her tunic. "Not a good day unless your dirty from head to toe right?" Amusement clearly seen as she says this. She gives in and soon pulls he tunic off but has a long sleeved shirt under it! The sleeves just rolled up past her elbows. "Could be worse.. Could be covered in runners mess instead." Not like /that/ hasn't happeend before, no not at all.

Soriana laughs. "Yeah. At least it doesn't smell." Pause. "Well, not like /that/, anyway." There is a distinctive sea-muck and slime smell, but it's far from the worst of scents to have clinging around. She grins, and scoops up her bag again before peering to see if any of Idrissa's seaweed ammunition store was the right kind of seaweed. Hmmm…. nope. Good only for flinging, not healing.

Idrissa grins and nods while she works on squeezing more water from her tunic and then just drapes is over her shoulder while she goes to get the bag she left on a rock. "True.. But.. I'll take this smell over the other." An who wouldn't?
Soriana grins widely, and nods. "Def'nitely." She takes a look along the shore, and hmms, hefting her bag. "Y'think we've got enough, or should we keep looking for a bit? And when d'y'have to be back at the stables for chores, anyhow? Or is it an actual lesson, today?"

Idrissa eyes her bag and then glances towards Soriana's, yup she got beat in the gahtering bit! She doesn't look too upset over the fact though. "Well.. If there isn't enough I'll help you get more later how's that?" A slight nod seen. "Got a few lessons this afternoon. Suppose it might be a good idea to find some dry clothes before then." She can just imagen the strange looks she would get going looking like something a feline dragged out of a pond.

Soriana considers on the bags a moment longer, then nods. "Yeah, okay. Or maybe I'll see if Sola knows someplace else to find 'em… the beach here is seeming pretty picked over." At the mention of the lessons - and clean clothes - she laughs. "Yeah, that miiight be a good idea. Unless it's stable-mucking lessons. In that case, I wouldn't worry about it much."

Idrissa nods at this and glances over the beach, it was well picked over to say the least. She blinks and soon laughs. "Naw.. I've already got past stable-mucking!" She can muck with the best of them and then some! "This was sorta fun tho.. If you go to find more let me know. I have to get you back somehow anyway." This said while she grins.

Soriana laughs. "Well, good. I don't figure that's one of the more exciting bits," she says. Also, it makes for really terrible impromptu fights. Really, really terrible. But! "This was fun, yeah. It's nice to hang out with you again, when I can pry you away from those runners!" She reaches over to nudge Idrissa's shoulder, grinning. "And I'll be keepin' an eye out for that vengeance of yours."

Idrissa grins and nods while batting a few wet curls of hair out of her face. "Naw, but its an important part of it." She offers with an amused like tone before she smiles to Soriana. "I have agree with you. An for once I don't actually miss the runners." She pauses. "Though that will pass!" This said with a laugh and she half pokes back at Soriana's arm. "It'll come when you /least/ expect it. Not tomorrow or maybe not even this week. Then blam! seaweed attack!"

Soriana laughs. "Years later. Miles down the road. Suddenly, out of nowhere… seaweed. I'll just stare at it, and be like… what?" She grins. "And then, you'll laugh at me. So. Hard."

Idrissa grins and nods at this while holding her head high a moment. "Yup.. Sneak attack. Just have to wait for you to forgot and then it'll be much sweeter revenge for me of course."

Soriana giggles, and nods. "Of course. That's how it works!" she says, then shakes her head, still grinning. "C'mon, let's head on back for now. I can take this stuff by the healers if you wanna get yourself a change of clothes before lunch." Imagine, Ida actually present for lunch on time!

Idrissa giggles softly and nods while she starts to move away from the crashing waves. She pauses to pick up her boots that are the only dry thing with her at the moment! "Wait.. I'll be on time for lunch then?" She gives Sori a look. "What will everyone think?!" A soft laugh escapes her. "Right.. lets go!"

"They'll just be like 'Who is that strange girl, and why has she taken the cheesebuns? What is this madness?'" Sori grins wide, and goes over to scoop up Inkfoot from his seashore investigations before snagging Idrissa's gathering-net from the other girl. "And they'll just be stunned like that. It'll be great."

Idrissa grins and nods while she hands the net over to Sori. "Well when you put it like that. How could I not show up?" This said with an amused tone. "I'll see you at lunch!" With boots and her still very wet tunic held in hand she goes about running up the steps heading back to find dry clothing so she can make her surprized trip to lunch on time!

Soriana follows up the stairs at an only somewhat more sedate pace, her bags of seaweed in hand, then veers off to deliver them to their proper destination. A successful morning!
