Xanadu Weyr – Clearing
A wide clearing stretches from east to west, the ground packed hard although grass grows across most of it. Trees are strictly forbidden in this space, their danger to the constant draconic traffic reason enough to banish them to the forest that creates a this and sharp border to the north. Where the ground is less trampled, tiny flowers poke their delicate heads out from their shaded hiding places with upturned petals to wave to whoever may be looking.
The cliff looms imposingly on three sides, stretching upwards all the way up the side of the mountain where, high above, Xanadu's Star Stones and the ever present watchdragon sit on a lonely peak. Directly south is a massive tunnel, fully wide enough for even the largest dragon to fly down. Southeast are wide steps leading up to the Caverns and eastwards is the large entrance to the Infirmary. Somewhat north of the Infirmary is a human sized archway that has a frequent quantity of traffic — it leads to the Tavern. Southwest lies the low ledges currently belonging to Xanadu's queens while north and west a broad path cut by the side of the cliff leads to the Feeding Grounds and due north is the spacious trail that leads to the rest of the Weyr.
T'maz helps one of the older drudges get on Dementh."Yep Dementh elevator duty… You ready to hop up next Missa?" She grins and clambers up behind the older man."I'll be up next after I tie the buckets on." He turns getting the buckets, and waves toward some other tardy drudges."Hay T'mater" one drawls."We needsta get up t' L'aor's Weyr… C'n someone get usn' a lift?"
Sabriel walks in with Maith waddling behind her. "Hi, T'maz, Dementh! How'r ya'll?" she says brightly. "Your on elevator duty, too?" She strolls over to the brownrider and smiles up at the drudge, before looking around. "Ya'll need any help?"
T'maz smiles and gets ready to get on Dementh."Those two were late getting up to L'aor's weyr. I took up Minra already to there so they can help her once they're up." The two drudges look shyly at Sabriel and just smile."Should we help out with the cleaning when we're up there?"
Sabriel grins back at the two drudges and waves them toward toward her green, walking behind them. "Climb aboard, she doesn't bite." The bubbly young woman waits patiently for them to mount and strap themselves on, before hopping up behind them. "Now, which one is L'aor?"
T'maz points over at one of the weyrs three caves up to the right side of the weyr."He's over that way." A blue spot stands on a green's ledge with both them, and a red clad woman waving. Then the blue clothed man and his green take off.
Sabriel looks up at the spot and nods. "I see it." Her eyes go slightly unfocused as she tells Maith to fly up there. She braces as the green suddenly leaps up, causing the drudges to lean back and curse, before righting themselves. The pair wheel slowly over the the weyr and settle down. Sabe slides down and helps them to dismount before getting back up and fly down to the clearing.
T'maz gets on Dementh and flies his drudges to the rider's weyr he to take them to, and then flies back down as well. "Did you like the class on roasts Master Denna did the other day?" More drudges line up between the two of them and a couple other weyrlings of similar ages and all four dragons. T'maz looks at Sabriel,"Denna's told me I am to be in charge of the Graduation feast… I'll have to work up something…" He looks a little nervous."Never thought she'd have me do it."
Sabriel nods. "Yes, I did. And congrats on thst, looks like I'm assigned to help you." She waves some more drudges over to her. "Were are you going this fine day?" she asks, cheerfully. "Kysli," one of the females say to her as she climbs aboard with the assistance of the Weyrling. Both brace as Maith leaps and downstrokes. After setting her down, the pair glide back down to the others. "You know what your going to cook?"
T'maz took off simultaneously when told J'ymi and returns about the same time."I have a few ideas and I'll need your help, as well as the other true apprentices, that aren't riders. If you see them, get with me…" He adds."I also sent some messages out to each of you to get with me…
Sabriel nods. "I will," she says as she gets the last drudge up on Maith, well the last one for awhile anyway. "I got it. Very good ideas, T'maz." She braces when Maith gathers herslef to leap after being told T'eo. She slides off as they land back on the ground again. "So, you decided on a wing and where you want your weyr, yet?"
T'maz grins and heads off to another weyr and brings back a drudge or two."I think I'd like to be Crafter, and Comet too…" He tilts his head."Forest Weyr appeals to me… after all look at how Dementh loves striped shadows.
Sabriel laughs. "I'm there too!" She smiles at Dementh, and chuckles. "Maith was so disappointed that we couldn't get one on the beach." The green nods. «I still think I could talk Niva into letting us have one.»
T'maz grins,"I have yet to check on red furniture for Dementh's likes… I know he wants a huge red blanket though."
Sabriel smiles. "I have no idea what to put in mine, yet. Got any idea, Mai?" «Yes, sand.» Sabe blinks and gives the green a look. "No."
T'maz grins a little."You can put some pots with some beach edge growing flowers in your weyr to decorate it with sand in the pots…" He pauses a moment."Dementh not only wants red but orange and other bright colors… I think his wallow may have a desert sunset painted around it… I'd just have to have someone from Igen come in and paint it for me… once we get our weyr."
Sabriel nods and smiles. "Sounds fun, T'maz." She gets a thoughtful look on her face as she considers what he suggests. "Maybe." She's thinks a bit more on it, not noticing the crafty look of Maith's, which indicates that she's done something Sabe won't like.
T'maz gets on Dementh's back when the brown sees drudges coming out of a couple weyrs onto ledges. They fly up, get the drudges and fly back down. He tells her his ideas for the Graduation dinner menu."Can you think of any thing that would make the meal more special?"
Sabriel hmmms and shakes her head. "No, I can't think of anything else to add." She climbs back onto Maith's back, so she doesn't have to when more drudges want a ride. She jumps as Maith lets out a bungle. «We're on Costal Road!» The green dances around, causing Sabe to cling to her. "What!?" she says. «I asked Kilaueth for one on the Costal Road and she said yes! Water!!!»
T'maz grins."Coastal road… I'll bring some sand for you." He teases Maith.
Sabriel quickly slides from the exuberant green while she's stop for a moment. "Well, let's go check it out. My shifts over anyway." She waves to T'maz and Dementh. "I'll see ya'll later. And I doubt we'll need any sand, because Maith likly to drag alot in." She walks away headed for the place where her weyr's to be.
