An Early Morning

Xanadu Weyr - Caverns

A massive cavern in it's own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as are the walls where numerous tapestries hang to provide brilliant color and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt, leveled carefully but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.
The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area, however, is the one near the Kitchens where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. Its plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr and equally plain that on such occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are appropriated from all the other areas.
A big fireplace is set into the wall near the Kitchens as well, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good view of all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colors of undyed wool.

Exits lead off in all directions, a big archway the largest and that leading outside. Shallow stairs to the west lead to the offices and administration area while tunnels to the east lead to the infirmary, kitchen and resident's quarters. Southwards, a sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs and southwest is a wide tunnel, carefully roped off to avoid accidents.

It's not quite morning, pre-dawn most would call it, when T'vis makes his way from the Hot Springs into the Caverns. The Rider glances around and not spotting another soul about (if you ignore the usual scattering of firelizards) he makes his way to the nearest hearth to get a bowl of stew, not minding in the least that the fresh breads and klah won't be ready for another few hours.

Kitty pauses a moment just inside the entry and then turns to look out into the darkness before heading inside. Too many chilly mornin's have left her well.. chilly. So she heads on in to get something warm to drink as well as some stew. Especially since Mio's wanting a bit of a nap.

T'vis pauses in the middle of filling his stew bowl and lets out a weary sign as he spots the new arrival. It must be true that you can't shake some people. Sure, he's barely spotted her a handful of times since the incident on the Beach, but in his present state of mind T'vis would swear he can't turn around without bumping into her. Nevertheless, he quickly laddles more stew into the bowl and retreats into the far corner of the Caverns. He's too hungry to retreat just yet if the way he digs into his meal, quickly but not sloppily, is any indication.

Kitty gets her klah and then makes her way to the stew. She blinks as she watches T'vis just suddenly retreat and frowns a little. She lets out a little sigh, certainly can't be Mio this time he's running from. Yup. Definantly has to be her. Quietly she laddles in some stew and looks around for a place to sit. SO many choices.

T'vis pauses suddenly, his spoon nearly to his mouth. He shakes his head and brings the spoon closer. Finally he sets it back in the bowl, his gaze taking on that distinctly distant expression of a Rider bespeaking his Dragon. When he does resume his meal it's with a mild air of stuborness.

Kitty finally finds a place to sit down. No she doesn't sit down right across from T'vis. After all, he's been making it clear he can't stand to be around her. Least that's what it seems like. She sets her mug and bowl down onto the table and the then settles down into the chair. Least the food and drink is warm.

T'vis drops his spoon into the bowl with a clatter that's thankfully dulled by the stew which still half-fills its heart and pushes the thing away. His gaze is distant again, his expression one of deep irritation even as he begins to climb to his feet.

Kitty startles at the clatter and then looks around. Stopping when she see's who it is, and then the look on the mans face. Her eyes widen and she quickly looks away. She's a right to be here and all… She quickly starts to work on her food and drink. Hissing a little at the heat of it.

T'vis glances over as Kitty hisses and frowns. "No, I didn't…" He sighs and shakes he head— "I'm _comming_!" he hisses under his breath —"I… Never mind." He shakes his head again and begins to make his way out, glancing almost wistfully at the half-filled bowl of stew and the miniature fair of firelizards that has settled around it. He's certainly not acting like a man nearing his thirty-fourth Turn.

Kitty watches him make his way and then looks over towards his bowl, then her own and sighs a little. A soft rumble from outside makes her look up and then she shakes her head in silent reply. She toys with the stew a little, seeming to have lost her appetite. Course thinkin' someone's leaving on account of you can do that to some people.

T'vis pauses at the rumble and glances from its source to Kitty and then at the other exits. Lovely. He begins to cross the room toward the Kitchen. There's a backway there, right?

Kitty sighs a little as she's glanced at and then watches as he looks around. She gets up and pushes her food away. Appetite is certainly gone now. "Not worry." she murmurs quietly "We will leave." she adds and makes her way towards the entry way where Mio is trying to peer inside with concern, his eyes whirling quickly.

T'vis gives a soft snort as he sees Kitty rises and prepares to leave. "I don't see the point in giving the flying stomachs a second free meal." He offers after releasing his breath in a long sigh. He's reached the safe-haven of the Kitchen doorway, but he doesn't bolt through it yet. He can't quite get himself to meet her gaze as he continues to speak, "I've already said I was sorry…" He frowns, a flicker of irritation crossing his mind and he shakes his head in an attempt to clear it, "I'm trying my best." He offers finally, turning to step through the doorway.

Kitty pauses a moment as she turns to look around at T'vis, frowning a little "You not doing' things wrong." she murmurs softly "I thought you not like being around me." she murmurs quietly. "I be the one who's sorry." she murmurs quietly.

T'vis pauses and turns back, a distinctly confused expression on his face. "_You're_ sorry now?" He frowns and shakes his head, actually continuing to look at her in his shock. "You're Dragon didn't nearly drown anyone out of stupidity."

Kitty blinks a little and ohs softly. See. She'd forgotten about the incident. She giggles a little and shakes her head "Sarcon okay, Mio okay." she smiles softly "No one hurt. Mio's forgotten. Not like stars, never forget stars."

T'vis frowns. "_I_ have not forgotten. The moment those Eggs are Clutched Itineranth and I will leave, unless Mellonath insists on his being present as they harden, which seems doubtful."

Kitty tilts her head a little as she walks towards T'vis, looking almost curious "Why?" she asks softly "You not want to see who they take too?" she also asks. "You not forgive?"

T'vis snorts softly. "Oh, don't worry. My lecherous little Bronze has yet to miss a single Hatching since Graduation. We'll be on the ledge as always." He shakes his head. "Now I understand why I always had the feeling that I shouldn't stick to one place too long."

Kitty blinks again and then takes a step back and ducks her head somewhat "Not mean to be forward." she murmurs softly and then turns to walk away "I shouldn't've asked."

T'vis sighs and runs a hand through his hair. "I've done it again… I'm sorry." He frowns. "I'm not good with people. No practice, I suppose short of bartering."

Kitty looks back over at T'vis and watches him a moment and then smiles "S'okay" she murmurs softly "Not be so hard." she states quietly "People be people. Barter no barter." she shrugs a little "No'pologies. You learn, your dragon learns."

T'vis frowns. "No. He doesn't. We're not staying at the Weyr now. I bathe him further down the shore and hunt him in the wild." He shakes his head, "Itineranth is safer alone unless we stumbles upon a Flight. And if we do we'll leave, not stay afterward. That was the problem."

Kitty ohs a little and then shakes her head as she frowns "He learn." she states "You make him learn. You gotta want it." she adds "He be yours."

T'vis smirks. "Yeah, and I'm stuck with him too." He frowns. "I said I was comming…" He shakes his head, "I should get going. Summoned and all that… You might want to look in on your meal if there's anything left."

Kitty shakes her head a little "I be good." she murmurs softly. She looks towards the entryway. "Mio not bother you." she adds quietly "He not be upset. Worried, not upset."

T'vis shakes his head, his gaze slipping to the ground once more, his burst of confidence (even if it was about how irritating his Lifemate can be) run out. "I shouldn't. There's a backway, I think. Don't worry. I'm used to short meals with my life… Sky's always calling."

Kitty hmms a little and nods "We don't mind you." she murmurs quietly. After all, she can get along with Sarcon and all. "Nor Iti" yes, she'll shorten near any name. "You not leave each time you see us no more?"

T'vis shrugs. "Depends on Itineranth." He's not quite up to useing that nickname just yet. "Enjoy your meal…" He slips out of the Caverns and into the Kitchens, confident that he'll find the backway he's seeking.
