Just Another Awkward Dinner

Xanadu Weyr - Caverns
A massive cavern in it's own right, this one has been skillfully adapted for human habitation. The high ceilings have been painted a light, soft ivory, as are the walls where numerous tapestries hang to provide brilliant color and insulation from the stone. The floor has been left in its natural state, pale pink granite speckled through with glittering mica and dark flecks of basalt, leveled carefully but kept sufficiently rough to avoid slips.
The cavern itself is loosely divided into areas, each one set up to be suitable for some segment of the Weyr's population. The most frequently occupied area, however, is the one near the Kitchens where tables of varying sizes provide a place to sit down and eat or chat and a buffet of consumables is almost always kept stocked. Its plain that on most days, this area wouldn't accommodate anywhere near the full population of the Weyr and equally plain that on such occasions when a formal meal is laid out, tables are appropriated from all the other areas.
A big fireplace is set into the wall near the Kitchens as well, several comfortable chairs nearby providing haunts for elderly residents or riders who like a good view of all that happens. Rugs cover the floor in strategic spots, all of them abstract or geometric in design and most in the softly neutral colors of undyed wool.
Exits lead off in all directions, a big archway the largest and that leading outside. Shallow stairs to the west lead to the offices and administration area while tunnels to the east lead to the infirmary, kitchen and resident's quarters. Southwards, a sloping tunnel leads down to the hot springs.

Idrissa smiles and nods. "I grew up on a beach and then a colthold near Irene Weyr. So I know a good amount about the beach at least, fish an all. But nothing with the dolphins. What are they like?" The two girls are sitting at a table talking while they munch on some dinner it would seem.

n-talya smiles and says, "They are playful and friendly, and alot smarter then people think."

Zahleizjah wanders in to the caverns for dinner time, her two firelizards as usual company but no large canine this time. Her long raven locks trailing behind with wispy bounce, though she looks less vibrant expression wise and more like that shyness she knew for so long. The young Starcrafter slips through a few mingling groups and heads towards the serving tables to pile some tasty grub on her plate. Shifty glances look across the tables, mostly full of people laughing and enjoying their night. Zahl is.. on the reserved side tonight.

Idrissa nods and smiles still. "Well that is neat. Now I'm really curious I have to say." The little green firelizard on her shoulder trills out at the approach of new lizards into the cavern. Willow tilts her head and soon hops up onto her person's head, her wings fluttering and tail flicking around. "Oy, Willow what are you doing?"

Natalya smiles and says, "I don't think it will be a problem at all." she looks up at the trilling firelizard and says softly, "It must be interesting to have one of those little guys.."

Garait walks into the Cavern, smiling to himself. It is mealtime, so he fixes himself a plate, adding ttle tidbits for the little green firelizard on his shoulder and makes his way around the Cavern, looking for a place to sit.

Even if Zahl isn't very talkative, Braczek and Ztyrian are quick to take notices of that familiar trilling green. They flutter gently and Zahl looks to them as she takes a seat at the nearest table to Idrissa and Natalya, not wanting to interrupt their conversation. The pair on her shoulders want nothing to do with this returned reclusiveness and the actions by the green provoke more chittering and fluttering to the head perched Willow. Zahl nods to the ladies taking a few bites off her plate as she notices Garait enter.

Idrissa hehs softly while glancing to Natalya. "Well I have two actually. Willow and Ripley. My other is a blue and well his a bit different. I like having them, cute and helpful with some things. Though really good company when I'm feeling on my own." Speaking of Ripley, Rissa glances around pondering where he has gotten to. Willow hops off her perch and goes right over to where those two new lizards are. The litte green lands on the table near Zahl, her wings tucking close and she chirrups and croons out trying to act all cute. "Willow…" Rissa sighs while looking over and a smile is seen while she waves to Zahl. "Hey, you want to come sit with us?" This questioned as she points towards a free seat.

Natalya glaces to the firelizard and nods slowly, "I have heard that about them… being good company that is.." he gaze travels over to Zahleizjah and smiles shyly, "Yes join us please.."

Garait slowly makes his way around with a near full plate and a mug, sitting near the girls he recognizes, but nodding to a few others. He feeds his littl green some wherry before thinking about food himself

Zahleizjah looks up from her plate, despite the fact that she was doing rather well ignoring her rambunctious duo who seem quite interested in the green who has just landed on her table. This does provoke a good smile from the girl, and both of her firelizards jump off her shoulders to meet the greenie with croons and chitters in return. Eyes swirl, interested indeed. It seems as though Natalya and Idrissa are departing rather soon, but Zahl joins them at their table upon the offer for a few brief words. As the girls departs she looks towards Garait, her duo also eyeing his green "Join me?" she asks.. even loners don't like eating alone some times.

Garait blinks and nods at Zahl, the table emptying now. He moves his plate and drink to the table as his little green chirps at the other firelizards. "Thank you. Eating by yourself all the time isn't fun." He glances to Zahl and nods, absently feeding Forest a bite of wherry.

Zahleizjah blushes, looking down at her plate as she pushes some food around in to tiny piles. She looks up towards Garait, both of her firelizards crooning and chittering to the greenie. "Of course.. and yeah.. sometimes it can be nice though.. only sometimes.." not all the time like she was so formerly used to. A small nibble is taken and washed down with a sip "So.. how are things?"

The little green croons and chitters to the other firelizards as Garait takes a bite of redfruit and sips his drink. A blush touches his cheeks ever so slightly as he responds, "Things are…..good for now. How are you? Settling in okay?"

Zahleizjah takes a few more meager bites off her plate, not feeling very hungry at the moment. Her firelizards love this game and will gladly help with leftovers.. once they're not distracted by that lil green over there. Zahl smiles and responds "Glad t'hear.. hopefully for a long time to come as well.. and yeah. M'settling in alright.. change is.. weird sometimes ya know.."

Garait nods in understanding, "I can only imagine moving somewhere where you barely know people." His green chirps bit as he absently eats more fruit off his plate. "Did you move here to be with you father?"

Zahleizjah shrugs slightly as her head bobbles from side to side in a more or less kinda way "I'unno… I barely know anyone anywhere so s'not much different than life at Western in that way.." The male firelizard pair haven't let up, bugling and crooning softly since they seem to have recently taken an interest in those little greenies. The Starcrafter looks towards the gent and in reference to his question she nods "Yes.. it seemed only right y'know?"

Garait nibbles on his fruit as his firelizard chirps at the other two. "Well, if you ever want anyone to talk to, or just eat with, feel free to find me.” He is being serious about this and truly means it. Nothing else said at the moment as he smiles at the Starcraft girl.

Zahleizjah finishes enough to satiate what little hunger she brought with her, the scraps used to entice her winged friends back from the green. Zahl blushes and smiles witha bit of a nod as she brings a napkin to her lips with a few crumb releasing pats "That is.. nice of you Garait.. I'll remember to do so and likewise.. I've got to head back for chores before bed but I'll see ya around ok?" Her duo is scooped up, plate bussed and she heads out.

Garait nods as he gives another bite of meat to his green, bringing her focus there. He nods at her, "Thank you as well. I have to look over lessons before bed, so I won't be much longer myself." With that, he stands as she leaves and grabs some fruit off his plate and heads in the other direction.
