Wings

When Weyrs and dragons fought Thread, Wings were an essential unit in battle techniques. Today, Wings are used to simplify organisation and their size matters much less. Xanadu has a total of eight Wings at the present time.

Quasar

The Quasar wing is the Weyrleader's Wing, with the Weyrleader leading the Wing and his Weyrseconds in the positions of Wingseconds. It is primarily an administrative wing, tending to be fairly small. Quasar also houses visitors from other Weyrs and any rider who, for whatever reason, is not suited to one of the other wings.

Nova

Nova is the Gold wing and the primary duties here are what is responsibilities of the Weyrwoman: co-ordination between riders and weyrfolk, communication, Pernese air traffic control and the IC management of Search. The Senior Weyrwoman leads the gold wing and the Juniors act as Wingseconds.

Galaxy

Galaxy is Search and Rescue and this is the wing who is expected to handle most emergencies and to extend help to those who look to Xanadu for protection. They are the first to respond in most situations, and generally have other skills which make them well prepared for whatever challenges they may encounter. The wingleader is currently D'had, and an NPC is his wingsecond.

Comet

Comet is the Transport and Messenger wing, responsible for the delivery of both packets/letters and passengers. Because of their interactions with widespread areas, many riders possess large amounts of tact and diplomacy, though not all which at times may lead to conflicts. The wingleader is currently Senkyou, and Eiriana is her wingsecond.

Nebula

Nebula is the technical wing, responsible for the addition, integration, and maintenance of technology in the Weyr. Nebula wing members are generally expected to undergo further training in various technological fields. The wingleader is currently M'iri.

Asteroid

Asteroid wing is the Craft wing, for both riders and nonriders practicing a craft at the weyr. Any rider is allowed to join the craft wing, to do their weyr duties through crafter activity rather then another form.

Meteor

Meteor belongs primarily to the elderly riders and has very few official duties. Occasionally, riders who are permanently unable to carry out normal duties will be assigned to this wing as well.

Pulsar

Pulsar is the Weyrling wing, where all new riders are assigned until they graduate from weyrlinghood. The Weyrlingmaster and his/her assistants are a permanent part of this wing as well. Older Weyrlings are usually assigned to 'elevator' duty, ferrying people, goods and messages up and down from ledges in the cliff.
