Logfile from Flandynn.
Xanadu Weyr - Garden
An arch woven from the tendrils of a willow tree stretches overhead lightly creeping with ivy as one steps in from the meadow into this sanctuary of green. Cool gray flagstone carefully spaced enables a soft velvety moss to thrive within the cracks, and creates a single wide pathway that fluidly breaks off into two paths of stone once free of the natural arbor. It is a wonder this place, and meticulously tended from the way it seems not a single leaf is out of place. On either side of the main path expansive grassy patches are trimmed short and edged behind with natural tan colored stone selectively chosen to stack just right. Beyond these are a line of fine puffed shrubberies in vibrant green intermingled with flowering bushes of brilliant pinks varying in hue from the very light to the very dark, which causes the occasional snowy white blossoms of other scattered here and there without worry to simply pop out of the scenery.
Directly in the center of the garden is another wall of intricately stacked stone, this of muted grays, creating what from the air would prove to be a perfect circle. It's been set high for safety, but not so much as one would not be able to lean over it to admire what lies beyond, either standing or sitting at the smattering of benches whose backs are set every four feet along it. Flush to the ground inside it's protective stone outcropping, is an enormous twenty foot wide fish pond. Within one can glean the metallic glint of playful goldfish, the unhurried cruise of fat koi, and even a frog or three among pale yellow and white flowering water lilies and their thick green pads.
The trees surrounding the entire garden were planted to give the impression that they had always been here, not only lending to a rustic look, but also eluding to the beauty that can be found among the wilds if only one might just look for it. Species vary from the ordinary Birch and Pine, but the flaming red capsules of the Indian Shot to the robust orange spokes of the Firewheel tree suggest the spice of the exotic. The two paths leading away from the entrance have come full circle, wrapping around to meet each other on the other side, yet still continue on to the far left and right. One path leads off deeper into the surrounding woods, while the other wider; cheerily decorated with brightly colored slabs of painted stones.
People: Fl'ynn
Obvious exits:
Secluded Alcove <SA> Kiddie Playground <KP> Meadow <M>
A rustic setting for a rural-raised boy. Fl'ynn, teenaged phenomenon that he is, is at loose ends (along with some loose threads that show at the hem of his faded trousers). With the sun high in the sky, the best shaded places are right directly under the trees -so that is exactly where Fl'ynn is. The young man is seated at the foot of a tree, back propped up by a wide, grey trunk, stereotypical leaf of some plant or another chewed on lightly so it dangles from his lips. His eyes are shut, hands folded behind his head, no ZZZs to be heard though, just idly chewing on that leaf.
Amidst a clump of some of the brightly-flowered shrubs amongst the gardens of Xanadu a figure kneels with dirt-caked hands. Jeniosa would be that figure, and since she's been stuck with garden duty for a chore, here she is, just quietly weeding the lovely shrubbery. She's quiet, for the most part, moving silently from one weed to another like a feline stalking its prey. It is on one of those circles of shrubbery that brings her in eyeshot of the trees, the nice shady trees along with a bluerider chewing on a leaf. Silver blue eyes do watch the teenager a moment, and that could just be the slightest little hint of a smile on the beastcraft candidate's lips. She doesn't approach the youth, not wnting to disturb his peacefulness, she'll just stand back and watch him..which might be creepy, hmm.
Fl'ynn remains as is, supporting the tree or the tree supporting him. Same thing. It is a long and quiet moment where he enjoys the relative silence, the bucolic weather, the wind, the greenery, the backs of his eyelids… oh yeah, and that twitching feeling that he is being watched. It was too still anyway. His eyes crack open, dark irises just as dark in the shadows under the tree. It is a blink or two before he focuses Over There. "Oh, hey," he manages while still with that leaf.
h, wait, the youth's eyes are open now, and e's looking…at her? The beascraft candidate quickly busies herself with tugging at weeds here and there, eyes lowered now to pay attention to what it was she was supposed to be doing other than watching the cute bluerider over yonder. A brief moment for her to regain some composure and she clears her throat briefly before answering. "Hey Fl'ynn, lovely day today, hmm?" And then, as if an afterthought, a dirt-stained hand raises to snap off a bit of salute, cheeks tinging just a bit. "Sir." She adds to the greeting.
Fl'ynn looks bemused, because it is an easy expression to come to his face. "I like this tree. It is a great tree. I wish I had a tree like this at my place. I've got a great lawn though. Really great. No great trees. I wonder if anyone would make a fuss if I were to plant one there." He returns from his musing, eyes tracking back to her, "But yes, lovely day. Perfect from here… not so perfect from where you are at though."
Jeniosa proceeds to try and relieve her hands of dirt on her pants, but it only manages to spread it out over more area and she sighs, giving up. "Oh dunno, the view from here's not too bad." And then she blushes further and turns back to look for another weed to attack. "Hot though." Yes, the heat is what's causing her skin to redden, that's gotta be it. "I bet you could probably get away with planting a tree on your lawn if you really wanted to." Yes, safer topic, this is good.
"You don't much work in the dirt, do you?" Fl'ynn asks, not moving from his spot against the trunk. Honestly, it is also a pretty honest statement, not judgmental or anything. He does cross one bare ankle over the other though while watching her, completely ignoring the trundlebug that makes a pat across his stomach. "I'd have to figure out what kind to plant there… and it'll take turns and turns before it'll be worth it to sit under. But I wouldn't mind watching it grow."
Jeniosa lets her eyes settle on her hands. "I work with felines, not plants. And working with felines doesn't require one to play in the dirt." She eyes her hands, picking some dirt from beneath one of her fingernails. "My felines would have loved this though." And she moves over to peek into the fish pond, leaning over the rim of stone. Gaze trails over the shimmering fish inside, and the beascraft candidate is distracted for a moment. A moment at which time one of the other candidates stuck with garden duty leaps from a clump of nearby bushes and nearly sends the beascrafter into the pond as she starts and lets loose a couple of curses before catching herself. A swat is aimed at the younger candidate with a frown.
"You might try some gardening gloves next time. I'll bet they have some back in the shack or something. It'll save your hands." Fl'ynn's smile broadens slightly, "Sorry, I'm a farm kid. Wore gloves all the time. We had kittens too. Fuzzy, calico ones that lived out in the barn. I-" The teen stops abruptly, startling forward 'til he is coming away from that trunk and to his knees, gathering himself to jump to his feet when all it is… well, is another candidate. He chuckles rather lightly after the startlement, looking after the other candidate. "Mmmmm, candidacy."
Jeniosa shoots a glare at the younger candidate. "Go 'way!" She nearly hisses. But then the young boy is grinning, looking from beastcrafter to bluerider. "Okay, I'll leave ya to yer boyf.." The youngster's comment is cut off by Jeniosa aiming a kick at his rearend. The beastcraft candidate, for her part, just kind of slides onto one of the benches and hides her face in dirty hands. Embarrassing!
Fl'ynn breaks out into laughter at the abrupt cut-off of That word. He drops back to sit on his heels, looking across to Jeniosa. "Ah, don't worry about it. I probably did that to someone once upon a time. Damn boys." He gives her a wink, then glances back to where the kid ran off, "So, you've got yourself one? Boyfriend?"
Damn boys, indeed, Jeniosa finally removes her face from her hands, though her cheeks still glow with the blush upon them. "One what?" Blink! And she shakes her head quickly. "Oh! No..not that I know of anyway." She peeks around, no one else here but her and the bluerider, no boyfriend here, unless he wants to be one*cough*. Even the almost ever-present Iforian is missing today, assigned to a different chore most likely. "I gave up boys, they're too much trouble." She's joking..isn't she? Maybe. Hmm.
Fl'ynn takes a breath and then climbs to his feet, ducking his head under a branch. "Ah, I had a girlfriend once. Back at home." He comes around the bough, tilting his head to the side to clear his vision of his dark hair. His eyebrows go upwards, interest showing quite acutely, "Oh? Girls then?"
Jeniosa watches as bluerider moves, perhaps just allowing herself to enjy the movement a little before turning back to the pond. "Only one?" She's going to avoid looking towards him, concentrating on the water. "I'd figure you'd had plenty of girls.." And then she cuts herself off at the question asked of her, and her freckled button nose wrinkles at the thought. "No, definitely not girls." She's not that kind of girl, apparently.
Fl'ynn nods his head, "Just the one. After that, I've had one night stands, two night stands, friends with benefits and various other acquaintances." He shrugs his shoulders, then nods back over to her, lips thinning just the slightest. "And boys. But no, no boyfriends either." He approaches, working out the kinks in his back from leaning against that tree for so long. He deliberately trys to hold her glance, ducking his head somewhat to be sure she doesn't duck her own to avoid the look, "If you want a boyfriend, Jeniosa, don't blush so prettily at me. I'm not boyfriend material. Trust me on that. Those pretty blushes should be meant for someone else, I'm not sure I deserve them." And then he breaks out into a huge grin, "Well, unless you strictly mean a boy that is a friend, otherwise I'm good with that. But not all of those… uhmm, connotations. I think that is the word for it."
Jeniosa isn't good with eye contact, and silver-blues slip back towards the water as soon as they have the chance. "Can't help it. I..don't talk to guys very often and you're so.." Mmm. "..so cute." It's not fair, really! Oh, the agony, why won't the redness just go away? "Guess it doesn't matter anyway." She gives in. "I'm a candidate, you're a rider..the eggs will hatch soon and I'll be on my way back to Eastern. Guess I just miss having…Nevermind." Aren't there some weeds somewhere that need tending? She pushes to her feet to look around for something, anything to distract her.
Fl'ynn breaks into a wider grin, and this time he has the good grace to blush are her mentioning him being 'cute'. He exhales slowly, then approaches again, listening intently. "Sure. You're absolutely right. You are a candidate, and those eggs will be hatching soon and… you miss having what? who?" he prods a bit further.
See, that grin, and those dimples he shows so often, what girl stands a chance really? Jeniosa could just die, really. "It's silly, really." She dares a peek at that grin and blush. "I had a friend at Eastern named Tarrin.." She ponders a moment. "..I guess maybe he was like..*swallow*..like one of those friends with benefits things." Ohdear, she's really admitting to this. "Guess maybe I miss the…late night visits. I've been awefully lonely since I came here, y'know?" But, alas, she really can't do anything, darn candidate rules anyway.
Fl'ynn's gaze slides up from her for the moment, glancing about the garden and in particular looking after where that kid ran off to. Maybe he is being sure, maybe he is simply musing, maybe he is making a decision, but Fl'ynn remains quiet for a moment, not looking at her. Tongue wets at his lips, then he looks back across to Jeniosa, "Okay, then maybe you might just get yourself a friend down in Xanadu." His grin hitches on one cheek, "And I'd hate to see you being lonely."
Jeniosa picks at another bit of dirt under her fingernail, mostly just because it's good for keeping her attention on something that's not the bluerider. "Don't suppose you..might know someone who might be interested?" She nibbles on her lip a bit, swallowing briefly. Then she's actually turning towards the youth, eyes trailing over his frame. A shuffle of feet, nervous. "I had some trouble last time I was left standing on the sands. I was wondering, maybe.." Hmm, she tugs at her braid briefly. "..maybe you could be the one to take me back to eastern after the hatching. Cause I'll want to get really drunk, and I don't wanna end up with some stranger like last time." Squeak!
Fl'ynn approaches once more, moving as if to stand at her side, even going so far as to try to slide his arm about her shoulders. He ducks his head towards her, "I suppose I could do that. Doesn't sound like much fun though. Much rather have fun now. Soo…. lets make sure I'm not a stranger and maybe we can take this elsewhere?"
Jeniosa wouldn't deny him an arm about her shoulders, rather, she actually slides over against him. It's so very tempting, mmm. And as his head is ducked, she can't help it, she'll move to try and place a kiss on him. "Won't we get in trouble?" She's trying to care, really, but right now she's growing more towards not caring. "Where do you have in mind?" Weeding the garden? Yeah, she's so over that right now.
Fl'ynn's grin grows ever wider. "Perfect. Oh, I've got this great place. It has an amazing lawn… empty of any trees, a spring out back that you can just walk right outside the back, this huge wrap-around porch, and it even has a bard for a /dragon/. A dragon, would you imagine that?" He laughs, giving her a bit of a squeeze, purposely directing her to the exit. "But the bed, the bed is the best. It has a quilt and it is not too bad at all. Nope. Not at all. Might have to show you my spring first though… gardening is dirty. I can help with that."
Jeniosa closes her eyes briefly, leaning into the squeeze. "Sounds perfect." She breathes quietly. And the beastcrafter is being directed to the exit, and she heads towards it, leaving the garden behind, she'll finish later..maybe. Right now, she's gonna concentrate on trying to follow bluerider to his place. "The spring sounds wonderful, and I'm ever so dirty." From weeding, honest!
