Opulent wings blanket a lithe form, cocoa covered wingspars melting into creamy coffee 'sails that echo the rich darkness of the earthy shades that coat his lithe body. Courtly charm and a characteristic nobility distinguish his ebony brushed features, his head finely chiseled with exquisite purity and an intelligent edge enhanced by brightly whirling eyes. Traces of ink sketch ideograms along raptor-sleek lines of neckridges, gentle ciphers hidden but for the closest inspection of his tenebrous throat and shaded spine. Lighter sienna embraces delicately slanted shoulders, soft sepia rippling over a flawless blend of oaky chocolate on well-muscled sides and haunches before deepening to dark bay brown on a slender, lengthy tail. Umber swirls in quiet eddies down his well-built limbs, melding with darker ochre until reaching sooty cinnamon on a warrior's taloned paws.
Egg Name and Description
Thistles and Thorns Egg
Have Xanadu's residents gotten sloppy? It'd take quite a bit of neglect on the Weyr's part if they couldn't even clear a pile of brush off the sands when there's a clutch. Or maybe, just maybe.. Could it be an egg? Yes, it must be; for how else could random sticks and leaves form such a perfect ovoid, and what other reason is there to leave shrubbery to sit in the heat of the hatching grounds? And random they are, scattered haphazardly across a steeply sloping incline. A small overhang juts out, cliff-like, near the smaller point of the egg, casting dark shadows on the underlying rocks and leaves. The rocks are a presence in themselves, miniature boulders forming a path around the shell until it's smothered by an overpowering patch of thistle. Overpowering? Yes, for the domineering herbage stretches skywards in a twisted tangle of vines and branches, towering over the scene and blotting out the sun to give the top of the egg a black crown. The occasional flower peeks out from among the sea of brown and green, autumnal leaves adding a splash of color to the hillside scene.
Hatching Message
Tangled sticks upon the Thistles and Thorns Egg shiver and quake, tiny boulder rocking until they tumble away in a swirl of shards. Vines unknot themselves as cracks force strands apart and the odd scrap of colour vanishes in a fall of tiny shards. Rocking steadily, it continues to shed little chunk after little chunk of shell as the prison loses strength. Dark hide begins to show through in patches before the cliff crumbles and the chains release their strangle hold. Faster now, pieces of rock topple off and onto the sand, the egg vanishing to leave behind a dark brown dragonet with a crown of black shell. Then a moment more and the crown is shaken off as the occupant faces the world courageously.
Impression Message
Tender darkness dims your vision, a cloak of gentle and profound emotion swirling around as his mind gathers up yours. In one instant, all that you were and will be together is encompassed in a love of exquisite innocence and formidable intensity. Deep browns shift and spin before your eyes, subtlely ribboned in shades of gentle blues, carrying a mellifluous harmony too abstract to ever be captured anywhere but the depths of your mind. « Daniella, my beloved Daniella. » is said with achingly pure sincerity. « Oh my Lady, I am yours. I am Ezventh! » With that exultant declaration, he lays claim to as his forever and ever, to defend and protect everlastingly.
Personality
Fiercely loyal, a warrior through and through, Ezventh is also a chivalrouns hero all your own. Intelligent and passionate, he is headstrong at times , inclined to fight, not for himself, but for those
who, in his eyes, need defending. The innocent, the helpless — and you. Ethical to the point where it may drive many people up the wall, Ezventh does not tolerate any straying from the path of Rightness. However, do not fear: right for him is more than empty moralizing. It's about compassion for others, consideration of people's feelings as well as justice. Ezventh won't be able to bear seeing someone hurt. Everything in him says to defend, protect and take away the pain. You in particular, Daniella, will be his concern. Anyone hurts you? Ezventh will take them on. Your champion, your knight protector, he'll *always* be there as a shoulder to cry on, a loveing, confident presense that enfolds you.
Don't think he's always serious, however. Ezventh loves to play. He enjoys jokes where everyone can laugh and he loves a game or any sort. Intelligent, yes — he applies a razor sharp perceptiveness to the world as he sees it and can put together disparate bits of imformations with a speed that may leave you bewildered. He's quick to learn and has a remarkably good memory for a dragon. However, he is inclined to be indendent, preferring to explore his world and learn on his own rather than sit in a class and be lectured to.
Stubborness is his other major trait. He's headstrong at best and capable of teaching mountains at worst. A head-on confrontation is likely to get you no where: subtlety is the best strategy. He will bow
to your will out of love but he never surrenders — and only a Queen can demand absolute obedience.
When Ezventh chases females in Flights, he'll do so with utmost courtesy. Let other dragons snap and snarl at one another — he woos the objects of his passion, sky-dancing in an effort to Impress, to lure her within reach. He throws his heart into the effort and will always be despondant for a day or two after a loss. Yet after a win, his elation isn't extreme. After all, the real Lady of his heart is you and you are his beloved forever.
Ezventh will be an sincere and somewhat solemn young dragon. Gawky in adolescence, it takes until he reaches his full growth for him to move with his inborn grace and confidence and this is reflected in his manner as a youthful dragon. Diffident, almost shy, he'll cling to you until something or someone rouses him, be it an injustice, a hurt to you or just something that sparks his curiosity. When he's rouses, he'll show an incredibly sweet earnestness as well as a sense of fun and games that has to be winkled past the shyness. However, as he gains experience, he'll outgrow the diffidence and begin to display his proper level of confidence.
Physically, he's a lithe and limber dragonet. His limbs will probably seem rather too long for the first turn — a 'leggy' look that goes with his youth. His hide is very dark brown, very creamy chocolaty and he's a bit darker (not a lot!) on his 'points' (head/tail/wingspars/limbs). He suffers quite badly from an itch hide when a baby and it will sometimes seem like you can never keep up. However, once he matures, the itchiness will coalase around his neckridges.
Why Daniella? Ezventh is always seeking to protect. He feels so very strongly! In you he found someone with that perfect blend out outgoing, shy, bossy and needing a champion. You are both the partner he can share everything with but also the Lady he can devote his life to.
Mindvoice
Gentle Waves of Tangled Strength
Everything of Ezventh personality shines through into his mind voice. It's a tenor, wonderfully smooth and harmonious at all times. Shades of chocolate brown tend to dominate but always there is an undercurrent of blues. Sweet peaceful blues when he is happy and content, deep and dark navies and royal blues when his is feeling strongly about something. True upset and hurt tends to tinge it all with red, giving a sense of bluey-purples. There is an undercurrent of music in his voice, a harmony that can never be expressed outloud. It's too subtle and too uniquely Ezventh. But it adds to the sweet and soothing effect he often has on those he speaks to.
Mentally, Ezventh is hopeless at dissembling. He is honest in the truest sense of the word. Never will he hide his feelings or his thoughts, especially not from you. While social, he is not a charmer in the
traditional sense. He respects everyone, treating all with a sincere courtesy and gentle manners that is quite inborn. It is notable that while he will freely talk with other dragons, he will not speak to another human besides you. Rather, when it comes to humans, he's rather shy and in this one thing, he needs you to 'defend' and 'champion' him.
Inspiration
Ezventh is derived from a Czech name, Ezven, which means 'noble'. It should br pronounced with a slight emphasis on the 'ven'. It was chosen because Ezventh is a very noble dragon. :)
