It's Raining, It's Pouring

For two days the fires raged in the mountains while the battle to stop the flames raged. Slowed, but not stopped by the efforts of Riders and Weyrfolk, the Deep Forests in the mountains burned and began their relentless descent towards the Weyr. Finally in the wee hours of the morning of the second day the rains that had been absent all summer came, brought by the same weather front that kicked up those high winds. What began as a gentle, slow rain became a torrent that continues at a steady pace.

Ground hardened and baked all Summer did not absorb the water. Instead the deluge ran off to collect in creeks and rivers, filling them to overflowing. And while the river that runs through Xanadu's meadow is rising, at least the fires are out?
